Another totally delicious and enjoyable dining experience,
wonderful service by Ruben and, no other place prepares veal dishes like Giorgio.
that's why we dine here often.

We've eaten at Giorgio's before and really enjoyed our earlier experiences, but this time, not so much. We received a call a few days prior to our reservation date to inform us that we would be seated "upstairs" and to make sure that no one in in our party had a handicap that would make them unable to traverse the steps. We said we could do so and it didn't occur to ask me why we needed to be seated upstairs; I thought it was quite considerate of them to call about this. I should add that in the past, I've been seated in the lowest level of the restaurant as well as on a level that was a few steps above it, but I never knew there was a loft with a full flight of stairs and that the loft are was open to the lowest level. What I wasn't told when I was called was that a large group had rented out the entire restaurant except for the loft and that we should expect it to be a very, very noisy dining experience. Upon arrival when we were brought up to the loft and heard what was going on below, we asked to be seated outside and were accommodated. However, the wait staff was assigned almost exclusively for the indoor party and service outside was extremely slow and inconsistent; our waiter was trying his best but he had his hands full and didn't have enough help to do his job well. Also, as the night became chilly, we asked for the outdoor heater to be turned on only to find that they didn't fill it with gas and it was not operational. Add to this that we were there to celebrate our parents' 60th anniversary and there was no acknowledgment for them despite our indicating we were celebrating an anniversary when the reservation was made. So, our meals were spotty, our environment chilly, and our evening disappointing. We will go back, but I will have to ask a lot of questions before I make a reservation to avoid a similar experience.

We have been coming for years to this South Orange gem - and we traveled from (very) northern Jersey. Steady and reliable with an easy going atmosphere, this BYOB restaurant is great for couples as well as groups. Thanks to Janet for her usual warm greeting! Well done and keep up the good work!

My dish’s sauce taste like the sauce u get on pizza, heavy on the oregano . The mushroom salad needs a lighter dressing than balsamic vinegarette. After a lengthy wait, the server brought the wrong dish to my girlfriend. She didn’t offer to keep my dish warm until the correct was brought out so I had to eat my lunch before my girlfriend could.

Came here for the first time for a meal where some family members from both mine and my fiancee met for the first time. Giorgio's was absolutely perfect. Delicious food and was able to easily accommodate our large group. I can't wait to go back.

We were a group of 8 on a Saturday night. We started by ordering several appetizers and sharing with the table family style. Everyone enjoyed the appetizers. Some of the dinners ordered were long lead time items so we had no issue that other tables were served before us even though they ordered after us. The veal chop Milanese was incredible (as always). We are somewhat regulars here but have not been in awhile. After last night we will probably be going more often.
Desserts and coffees were also excellent as well as the friendly atmosphere.

Overall, the experience was pleasant. However, I do advise they make it a point next new years eve to advise their customers of two things prior to reservation: there's a specialized menu, as well as set price for the evening.

Hope this helps.

Traditional fine-eating, white table-cloth small restaurant with excellent service and extensive menu. Too extensive? Salmon superb, carbonara good but heavy, lamb and steak good but not special. It’s a comfy place and will satisfy a wide variety of appetites. Had hoped for something a bit more interesting but all left in a better mood than before dinner.

Exceptional "traditional" Italian items as well as excellent rack of lamb, steaks and other items assure that you will have a totally satisfying dinner every time. And-very reasonably priced.
Often there are groups of six or more in the main restaurant, as well as large private groups in the private dining area-this shows how really popular Giorgio's is.
As for us, THE BEST VEAL DISHES ANY WHERE!!.
Plus, the classic decor is what you would only expect to find in a "high end", very expensive place.
The service is always exceptional, no matter how many folks are dining here
This is why we dine here regularly .

Great food, ambiance, and service at VERY reasonable prices.

It was a nice restaurant. Good for dates. But I was not too impressed with the food. The pasta was too salty and the steak was okay. For the price I feel like the food was not that great.

My wife and I had dinner at Giorgio's for the first time Saturday night before a concert at nearby SOPAC.

Our meal was wonderful in every respect. We split s salad that was quite ample for both of us. My wife had the Shrimp Pesto; I had the Shrimp Fra Diavlo.

Both main courses were creatively and deliciously prepared, and the portions were substantial.

The service was very attentive, gracious and professional. Our food arrived promptly, enabling us to make our show with plenty of time to spare. The owner --sensing that we were new customers--even came over a couple of times to see if everything was OK. We told her, very truthfully, that everything was superb.

We recommend Giorgio's whole-heartedly with the highest accolades and can't wait to return.

Staff always helpful and the food is excellent. We had a special angle hair pasta with chunks of salmon and broccoli rabe. They split our salad order which was more then enough for two.
Great biscotti and coffee for desert.
Great place for dinner before a SOPAC show.

Excellent food AND service EVERY TIME!!!
This time, there was a large birthday party in the private room and in spite of this, the service was terrific, thanks to Ruben, and our dinners were promptly served.
Everything on the menu is a total delight.

We were seated at a quiet table where we were able to talk. The server was very attentive and knew we were discussing business so she only came by when absolutely necessary.

We all had salads for lunch. Everything was well prepared and looked very appetizing. It tasted even better. Topped it off with an excellent cappuccino.

Will be back.

Mediocre food at ridiculously high prices. Asked for a plate of pasta with butter for kids to share - charged $10/plate for 2 small bowls of penne with butter. Absurd. Adult entree was barely palatable. Will never return.

This restaurant is beautiful, magnificent, delicious and outstanding. This restaurant is actually my favorite restaurant in New Jersey. South Orange is also my favorite town in New Jersey as well. The atmosphere is beautiful both inside and outside, with a beautiful gas lamp right across the street. The table cloths, napkins, antique chairs, antique wall portraits, and the outdoor decorations are magnificent. The servers are polite, observant and caring. Whenever I was running out of water or bread the servers gave me more right away. The food is delicious. I had a penne alla russa and cannoli and it was the best that I ever tasted. I even had to take some penne alla russa home with me. If you dine outside the restaurant, you can see the beautiful sunset and moon. The parking right behind the restaurant was fine as well. They even played beautiful calm jazz and classical music in the loudspeaker. The customers around me seemed very happy and friendly. I would definitely dine in this restaurant again for as long as I can. I recommend this restaurant for anyone who admires upper class dining and calm music.

It is Friday, 7:55 PM and we (four) were the only patrons in the place besides a woman, who was dining alone. We thought to leave and go elsewhere but I suggested we stay. BIG MISTAKE. Our waiter was inept, forgetful and condescending. He was a grumpy old man who looked as if he wanted to go home because the place was empty. We ordered fried calamari with 2 sauces, hot and sweet, he only brought 1 sauce, we had to ask again for the hot sauce. The calamari was "perfectly rubbery"almost inedible. We ordered sausage and broccoli rabe which never arrived. The waiter argued that we never ordered this appetizer, as he rolled his eyes. When it finally came, the broccoli rabe was helplessly over done, floating in some kind of tasteless water and had the color of seaweed. The two, Caesar and tricolor salads which we split were warm, wilted and tasteless, so we had to ask for additional dressing. The veal chop entrees, were not inexpensive but the quality of the meat was. The chop had a lot of gristle and the presentation was lack luster. The other two entrees were even less noteworthy. What a disaster of an evening. Our waiter should retire because he was not a good face for the restaurant. Now I know why the place was empty. We will never return.
