We love Gioco. We visit every time we come to Chicago. The food is always delicious and the service outstanding. Can't wait for our next trip.
Price for lunch was outrageous !
2 people 2 fish dishes 1 salad 1 soft drink was 76.00
It was ok. Cool to know the information of how Al Pacino used to run the place but i would of expected way more out of the food. Not that great. I thought the margarita would not have red sauce. It had red sauce and no tomatoes.
Our group of three arrived at 6:15 for a 6:30 reservation and were seated promptly. We ordered two apps and a mushroom pizza, one cocktail and a bottle of nice Italian red wine. The bill was $135 including tax. We were there for 2 1/2 hours and never rushed as we caught up with friends. It is a nice place with good food, drinks, and wine with an open kitchen. The service was attentive but not obtrusive. It is recommended.
I would definitely recommend Gioco. The meals are well prepared, tasty & make you feel at home. The staff is wonderful & offer great suggestions should you need them. It has old world charm & a comfy inviting atmosphere.
We have dined here numerous times since it opened and we understand that the restaurant may close in the near future. We cannot understand why. Every single food that we tried on this visit was exquisite, perfect and oh so tasty! The flavors were subtle and complex. We absolutely loved our dinner; all of it! Service was quiet, warm and completely available.
We will hate to lose this restaurant. Go if you have not already done so. You will be so happy you did!
Amazing attentive service from the entire staff. Also the best margarite pizza I've ever had in my 30 yes in Chicago. Perfect flavor and thin crust. Yum!
Fantastic service! We were dining as a family of 5 - with younger children and they were wonderfully accommodating. The food was excellent. Overall a great dining experience.
I took a friend for his birthday and I was disappointed that they didn’t make the occasion special even when I stated it was a birthday reservation.
Excellent service. Delicious pasta , veggies and steak. Very accommodating.
Always have great meals and experience at Gioco’s.
This has become one of our favorite restaurants Great food and service and the wine list is a good Italian mix that you will find to your liking The waiters are always knowledgeable and on target
This may seem south....but don't miss it. It is only a 5 min cab ride from Michigan Ave and Grant Park
No valet service is a problem in this neighborhood
Gioco was such a great place for my friends and I to have dinner and catch up after a couple years of not seeing each other. We were all in town for a local convention at the McCormick Place, so we needed a place to eat which was close by the Convention Center. We were seated quickly and our server was phenomenal. I only wish I would have gotten his name properly, so I could give him a shout out here on the review!
He was very knowledgeable about all aspects of the menu, and was able to recommend options for us which were vegetarian. They were able to accommodate our requests without any problems (we all had different dietary restrictions...) and they did so without making it seem like it would be a "problem".
The ambiance of the restaurant was great and it was absolutely perfect. Just looking at some of the other diners, at least in our section, we could see that everyone was enjoying their time.
The wait staff team was great and they were all very welcoming.
I WILL DEFINITELY be coming back!
This restaurant had a great ambience, the wait staff were very friendly, and the food was priced right and ccoked to perfection.
Absolutely superb in every way. The food was delissimo, our server Sam was attentive, helpful but not intrusive, and we found the ambience unpretentiously pleasing, authentic, and conducive to conversation. Our group of family members loved it.
We had walked past this restaurant a hundred times and finally decided to try it. We were very surprised. Our food was great - our service was great. We will definitely go back.
The exposed brick walls makes it feel like an original Chicago dining experience. The service is attentive and knowledgeable. The wine list offers many affordable options. The food was served quickly and was delicious. The favorites from our evening were the lamb chops and ravioli. Be sure to ask for a tour to see the “old time” connection to Chicago’s mob days.
Nice restaurant. Scallops special were excellent. I’ll be back!
This is my FAVORITE place in South Loop! I LOVE IT! Excellent service, delicious food and it has a great feel that's classy but not pretentious!
Our table was ready before we arrived, and beautifully set. Our 4 year old toddler was joining us, and they promptly brought a kids-friendly cup for his water. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable about the wines, menu, and attentive to our table. We ordered salads, main courses (a pasta and fish), as well as dessert. They even brought our son a single scoop of ice-cream (gelato) on the house. It was an amazing dinging experience.
I was very surprised with everything you look for in a great dining experience. I was not expecting the great service and quality of food. Hidden Gem!
Gioco is one of my favorite places in the South Loop. Being Italian, I appreciate the simple menu and seasonal options. It is not too filling. The olive oil, infused with rosemary and garlic is drinkable! I bring many friends, family and customers here when I am in Chicago.
Went late and really enjoyed the good food and service. I usually go late to avoid the dinner rush and noise. Staff extremely helpful and ambiance was very enjoyabkr
Consistent, healthy, flavorful food! A neighborhood gem.
Good Italian spot in the neighborhood. Food was all right. I like the rustic feel of the restaurant.
This team works SO hard to make dining a true pleasure. I highly recommend for any time!
This place continues to impress me. The food is fantastic, the staff is excellent, and the atmosphere is cozy and elegant but not pretentious. The wine is great and the menue is small enoigh that they can focus in quality dished but big enough that tou get good selection. This is by far my new favorite place! Neighborhoid gem!
I absolutely adore Gioco!! A true neighborhood gem with all the charm and ambience I could want. Authentic, delicious food and great wines. Our waiter was very helpful and attentive. Since moving into the neighborhood over a year ago, I have heard rumors that this lovely spot might close down and I pray that it is only a rumor!! Please do not go -- stick around and soon our nabe will be so booming that you will be turning people away. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!
Always great food and very personable staff. I love this place. Great food at a good price.
Gioco is the best kept secret in the South Loop. Excellent variety of delicious menu options and perfectly prepared. Service is outstanding. We eat there every week and it is always a special treat. Give it a try. You won’t be sorry!
Gioco very rarely disappoints but doesn't "wow" either. We love that it is a neighborhood gem but we would like for the menu to be expanded beyond the current offering. We always have to ask for bread and we suggest that a small salad should be included in light of the entree and pasta prices (especially for pasta dishes). My other beef with Gioco is the tiny olives they use for martinis...you need a magnifying glass to see them (and they offer little taste).
This restaurant is consistently very good. The wait staff are very nice and attentive. I go regularly with my daughter a college student and they recognize us and always greet us warmly.
They refer to it as "from the Berkeley" I have no idea what that means, but it's an assortment of meats and cheeses. It is awesome! Parking is just a few doors down for $10, valet on the weekends.
Probably below average in cost for loop restaurants.
I was at this restaurant about a year ago and thought the lamb chops were the best I had ever eaten......Went there again last Saturday, and they still are the best lamb chops I have ever eaten. Although it is a little pricey, well worth it. Delicious
Wonderful little restaurant ... warm, inviting ambiance, attentive staff, delicious food and excellent wines. Great for date night or just friends gathering. We'll definitely be back!
Gioco is my go to neighborhood spot for fine dining, warm and inviting atmosphere, and great service, food and wine. Kudos to Christian who has waited on us several times and is a real professional with a delightful, helpful personality. I bring both friends and business acquaintances here, and it is always a hit!
Very nice atmosphere and excellent service. The chicken piccata sauce was delicious!
Great food, great atmosphere. This is the second time my wife and I dined there and we will definitely go back. Great value for your dollar.
Delicious warm bread & olive oil. Always very fresh & delicious Italian food. Great attentive service. We can’t wait to return.
I go to Gioco with some regularity, although I had not been there in a while. It was not only excellent as it has been in the past, but it is actually getting better. Relaxed, excellent, comfortable yet gracious. I definitely highly recommend.
