Gina's Bistro - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I were in Vegas for a conference and wanted to get off the Strip. The reviews were spot on. When you arrive, your inclination will be, "Seriously? A strip center?" However, once through the door, you will notice that it is somewhat quaint and similar to restaurants in Boston's North End. The food was incredible. The pasta is handmade and cooked to perfection. The bruschetta was the best I have ever eaten! The breads are like my grandmother used to make from scratch. If you like wine, they had a nice reasonable priced selection and I would highly recommend the Primivito. For desert you cannot go wrong with the Chocolate Salami! Save some wine to savor with it! If that wasn't enough, the prices were very reasonable.
I would highly recommend Gina's to anyone. I will definitely return on my next trip to Las Vegas!
My wife and I wanted to try something off the strip as a neighborhood gem. We do this from time to time, and anyone looking at my review history would show a nice mix of popular and off the beaten track type of cuisine choices. This restaurant has numerous positive reviews, and the menu looked delicious. I honestly don't understand how this restaurant could get so many positive reviews, unless they were being made by insiders. We arrived on time for our reservation, yet still had to wait 20 minutes to be seated. It was not because the restaurant was crowded, it was because they didn't have the staff to clear tables and seat us. There was one server for the whole restaurant. She seemed overwhelmed, and all we heard was her apologies to every table all night long. The manager did a decent job trying to help, but then he and the server were bickering all night long as well. The pasta de fagioli soup was world-class in my opinion. Everything else was a freefall from there. The pasta was overcooked and falling apart, and the chicken tasted rubbery. The sauces seemed uninspired, as if they were made from a can instead of from scratch. When we received the bill, we noticed an overcharge and pointed it out to the manager. He quickly resolved it. We spent $100 for a table of two. Yet we would have been far more satisfied with the value, food, and service had we gone to Olive Garden for half the price. I overheard several regulars at other tables mention someone on staff was missing due injury or illness, perhaps the owner or the chef. That would explain a lot. In its current state, I could not see how this restaurant would be able to survive with the food and service we received last night. I would be embarrassed to bring anyone here ever again, let alone my understanding wife.
My first time there. The food was fine. The service was pretty bad. I ordered wine before our dinner order and it didn't come until after I had started eating. We ordered more bread before dinner - that never came.
I had the salted cod but didn't care for that much. I like salty but the fish was not so good. I'll give it another try but I'll order something different. The restaurant was authentic and cozy. I'm sure next time my experience will be better!
While visiting Vegas to celebrate my hubbies birthday, we decided to venture off the strip and explore the local cuisine. We decided in Ginas purely based on the outstanding reviews. We got above and beyond our already high expectations. The food was authentic and full of flavor. The portions were enough to share, but why would you want to with food cooked to perfection. Full to the brim we ordered desert to-go and I was humbled by the mouthwatering Tiramisu...YUM! We will definitely be heading back next chance we land in Vegas!
We dine her often especially for our celebrations. The owner Ricky is passionate about offering the best food and dining experience for his clients. His Mom is a great chef and is amazing. How creative the menu specials are and he is willing to modify if you want to. Our server Sarah was
great. The food is the best Italian food I have ever eaten and I am Italian. What ever we have eaten has always been spectacular. Give it a try. We can hardly wait to go back.
I started coming to Gina's many years ago when it first opened. Gina has since sold the restaurant. The new owners off the same authentic Italian cuisine and more. This was the second time I have been back to Gina's in less than a month. The meals are exceptional. The ingredients are tasty. The service is great. I would easily recommend the gnocchi, priest choker pasta, or any of the veal dishes.
The food and wait staff are wonderful. Everyone has a wonderful sense of humor and are extremely helpful. They come to your table when necessary and leave you alone to have conversation otherwise. We have been enjoying this restaurant for many years, and will continue to do so.
Literally the worst marinara sauce we've ever had - we will not return. I really liked my first meal at Gina's two weeks earlier (cheese gnocchi). This second experience was terrible. The red sauce on the ravioli looked and tasted like crushed tomatoes straight from the can: no cooking, no garlic, no seasonings...no additions whatsoever. The Caesar salad had no pungency or flavor (I'm pretty sure there were no anchovies in the dressing, which oddly tasted like ricotta cheese). My wine had something large in the bottom of the glass. I have no idea what it was and did not see it until I was virtually done. I pulled it out with a fork, and no one at the table could identify it. Gross.
This is our go to for really authentic Italian food. We keep returning for the owner Ricky, the chef his mom and server Rali, they go out of their way to make your dining experience great. The food is spectacular. The menu has many options but they also have specials so there are always many meals to choose from. I always try one or 2 of the specials and they are always terrific. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. We had a table of 4 and had a fantastic meatball appetizer , each of us had the house salad, we each had a different entree and desserts. Everything was amazing. The fresh bread with rosemary is the best I have ever had. The dishes are a nice size. I am looking forward to our next visit. It always feels like home.
Some people in my group really liked what they ordered. I thought mine was terrible. I ordered sole which was tasteless and the marinara sauce on the side of pasta was sweet. Other people agreed with me about the pasta. We all agreed that we'd never go back.
No complaints about the service.
Although it's location in a strip mall made us nervous, that feeling was quickly put aside as we felt we were guests in someone's home. All in our party of eight had different entrees and all were superb. No bar but a great selection of Italian wines; the Amarone made me quickly forget about my gin martinis.
Great place run by great people, a nice break away from the Strip.
Very small, white linen table cloths, nicely appointed. My companion and i were first to arrive and enjoyed the ambiance. As the place quickly filled, small, the noise level became toxic.
Food was prepared nicely. The veal parm was lite not bedded un bread crumbs.
Wine was good.
Wish I could give Gina's more then 5 stars it is so deserving. We have dined there before and that is why we return. Always a warm welcome on entering the restaurant by the owner Ricky. He is passionate that you have a wonderful dining experience. We met his mother who is the chef and she is priceless. The fresh baked bread with rosemary was to die for. Everything is fresh and made to order. The salads were beautifully presented and greens fresh with a delightful salad dressing.
Two of the diners had the Cioppino and couldn't stop praising it at every bite. They commented it was the best they ever had. The fish was very fresh and the clams and mussels were delicious in a fantastic broth and came with a side of spaghetti. I enjoyed one of the specials a white lasagna with vegetables which was delicious. The other diner had pasta with Arabiatta sauce was much to his liking. Deserts were Spumoni and Cannoli. The coffee was even delicious .The server was sweet and wonderful throughout. The whole dining experience was like being with family. Food was definitely made from the heart with love. We will be back.
We saw on Yelp that Gina's has 1/2 price bottles on Wednesday as well as good Yelp reviews, so decided to visit after some golf. We made reservations, but when we arrived a bit early, we saw there was plenty of room, so didn't give our names. The owner served us, charming Italian accent, and helpful as we selected a bruschetta, after some very tasty mom-baked bread. We also got a nice pinot grigio, to go with my husband's lasagna (enormous and satisfying) and my chicken involtini with a delicious mushroom sauce. Involtini was a bit small, but good saucing, and it allowed me the room to enjoy sharing the homemade cheesecake with chocolate drizzled over and some whipped cream.
What may be lacking in curb appeal is in no way reflective of what is waiting inside The menu includes all the usual favorites along with delicious specials like sea bass prepared tableside and stuffed peppers that simply melt in your mouth. This quaint local gem is on par with any Italian restaurant on the strip for less than half the cost. The staff is extremely personable and make you feel like you are part of the family. We will definitely be back on our next trip to Vegas.
My friends and I tend to be the foodie type and usually try a new restaurant weekly. Seeing this option on Open Table, we decided to give it a go. I'd like to mention, I tried this restaurant a few years ago. There were so many negative issues then that the result was an embarrassing waste of time which led to a ruined evening and no dinner.
This was not the case this time! Hidden in a not so amazing shopping plaza, we were greeted with smiles and a friendly hellos and welcomes. The smells of parmesan, garlic, and comforts of Italian food hit us as soon as we opened the doors. We were presented with an amazing Italian Wine list that the server/owner happily discussed with us resulting in two perfect bottles of red that complimented our meal.
The food was authentic and delicious. We ordered both of the owners "specials"/recommendations along with some own choices that tempted us from the menu. The meatball special was spot on and absolutely delicious. The marinara was so flavorful, I would have been satisfied with just the sauce and some of the delicious "homemade by the owners mother" bread. We had a little of everything - mussels, chicken, pasta, and dessert. The only area of opportunity I would mention was the potion sizes were a little smaller than expected, however, that didn't stop us from being totally full when we left. Everything was thoroughly enjoyed.
As we spoke to the server and back waiter, they explained that the server bought the restaurant from the original owners as he had worked there since he moved here from Italy. His mother (recently moved her from Italy) helps with the food, adding a noticeable degree of authenticity to the food. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating paired with the great food, needless to say, the night was a success. Don't be fooled by the outside appearance. Give this location a chance, you won't be disappointed.
We were a party of four seated promptly. We were greeted and made to feel welcome. Our server was attentive without being intrusive. The food was well prepared though the menu was limited (not many entree choices but what we ordered was delicious.) Having been in Italy last year this Bistro was reminiscent of the little family gems we enjoyed there. Highly recommend this fine Bistro.
