Gilt Bar Ratings and Reviews
Our server was incredible and the food was excellent! It was super dark inside, creating a certain ambience, but it was a bit too dark for those not on a date... It was pretty loud, and it is a bit tight. Overall, our server and the food made this a high rating!
I had a good experience at Gilt Bar. I knew it was pretty difficult to get seated in the Library downstairs, but after being put on the wait list, my party was able to get seated down there after we sat and had some drinks. The service was great even though they were very busy that night.
Great table on the raised dias on the left at the back for a family meal with visitors from the UK.
Love the cocktails. The food was great and there was something for everyone from the burger to the mussels and the pasta. But the best bit was the beetroot salad.
Loved it! Had to flag server down for the check but it was really busy by the time we were done so I do not blame him at all. I had the truffle pasta and charred broccoli which was rich and indulgent. went for a birthday and they certainly didn't forget. The host wished my date a happy birthday and there was a sparkler in our brownies. worth every penny
Great ambiance, drinks, and menu. I had the muscles to start which were amazing...and the salmon and broccoli (broccoli was very good). Would definitely recommend Gilt. Also, our server Keri (sp?) was awesome and gave great recommendations! Will definitely be back.
We were in Chicago for both work and the theater and met up with friends for dinner at Gilt. The restaurant was highly recommended to us from another friend, and it met our expectations! The food was delicious, our server (Guy) was awesome and made wonderful drink and meal selections (never lost a beat when asked for virgin drink cocktail options).
We'll definitely be back!
We had a great meal. The Tartar and meatball were excellent starters. The table split the ribeye, fettuccine Alfredo and the mussels. My mom loved the meatball appetizer so much, she ordered another one for her main course. The chocolate cake was very rich, and very chocolaty. The cocktails were great. No frills, just great food. Guy was an excellent server and he had great knowledge of the menu.
They sat us at a part of the restaurant near the entrance that inevitably makes you have a different, lesser experience (my rating could have been different otherwise (5 stars instead of 4)). Food was good, but had better food at some of the other places from the same hospitality company (3 Arts Club Café, Au Cheval, Bavette's).
Athough in general must say: hostess was very nice to us and accommodated a special request.
And the Hogsalt hospitality company from which this restaurant stems, is doing an amazing job. I've been to 4 of their places. This was my least favorite of the 4 but was still pretty good.
We started the evening with cocktails. My husband had the Bee's Knees - he liked it so much he had a second one. I had a delicious Bar Germain. It went down easy. Then we had the roasted bone marrow as a starter. That was a real treat! So incredibly tasty with a great juxtaposition of textures. You spread the warm creamy marrow on the crunchy toast with a dollop of red onion jam and it's to die for! Then we had the short rib pot roast and we were floored! We were skeptical when it arrived because the plate was covered in an opaque almost black sauce but then after one bite you were in heaven. We couldn't believe it. And if you order it you must get the mashed potatoes with it. Oh, and with a glass of cabernet sauvignon we hit the trifecta. We were completely blissed out. Gilt Bar is dark, delicious and dangerous!! We staggered out of the restaurant blowing kisses at the kitchen. We'll be back.
The steak tartare toast, green leaves salad and the truffle pasta make for a copious and delectable meal. We also tried the thickcut maple bacon side - a must try.
Very "see and be seen" kind of place but the food holds its own against trendy, bright, young things scene.
This was my 1 year anniversary dinner and our server was perfect. She surprised us with dessert and was very sweet through the night. The food was delicious (except for my pasta only because it wasn’t what I was expecting). I would recommend. Thank you Gilt Bar!!
We went to the Gilt Bar with friends from out of town because we wanted them to have a great meal at a place with a great ambiance. The restaurant did not disappoint! The service was excellent and everyone enjoyed their meals and cocktails. We brought a bottle of merlot and shared a glass with a neighboring table (a feature I love about Gilt Bar and Bavette's). If you want an elegant evening out with special friends; you can't go wrong with Gilt Bar.
