Very dark - virtually no lights. Only light seemed to be by candles..which I liked a lot! Food was great too.

Ribeye steak is VERY well priced. 2.50/ounce. Minimum is 16oz. Truffle pasta is to die for, rich in truffle oil and very savory. Perhaps a slightly portion would be more attractive. Cocktails are great, however one was too bitter but the server quickly replaced it with another we enjoyed. Palomas are not disappointing.

Corner seating is the best!

We had stumbled upon the gilt bar this past summer and it immediately became my favorite restaurant in Chicago. I celebrated my 50th birthday at the library on Friday night and it was perfect. We were in a corner booth and the staff made it a very special evening.

I think seasonal menu changes diminished the menu options. Truffle pasta was not impressive - tasted more oily vs. truffle. Pear salad was stand out of our meal.

I made a special reservation for our 5th year anniversary at Gilt after spending some time researching romantic places in Chicago and wife and I both had a fabulous time in the library section (located in the basement). The food/drinks, decor, service, and ambience were all top-notch. Thank you Gilt!

The special occasion was Valentine's Day. We we're seated downstairs in a very cozy booth. Food and drinks were amazing. The whole experience was perfect.

The ambiance is perfect for a romantic evening. Went here for Valentine’s Day and we could not have chosen a better spot. The food is amazing! We shared the bone marrow & bread, the truffle pasta, ribeye, and garlic mashed potatoes (amazingggg) and it was the perfect amount for two people. After we went to the lower saloon for drinks and they were just playing soft jazz music. The lower bar is a much more quiet, intimate area. It was a romantic ending to the most amazing evening

My husband and I were celebrating Valentine's Day. The service was excellent, atmosphere is cozy.
Unfortunately the food was very disappointing. We started with the truffle pasta which was incredibly salty to the point that we did not finish it... The broccoli was over grilled with lots of burns on them, therefore you can only taste the burn. The fries were mediocre and nothing special. The mussels were excellent and shorts ribs stroganoff was ok. The drinks were good. The highlight of the evening was carrot cake, that cake was amazing.

- We waited for a bit before the table was ready
- Server was ‘ok’. I had to flag her a few times for things we needed

The two bartenders were completely rude. I was waiting for my friend and tried to strike up a convo, they basically looked at me and ignored me. Seemed they were too busy complaining about something to each other and shooting dirty looks to the couple next to me using their phone so they could read the menu. Wish they knew how to make people feel welcomed. Food was excellent but very garlic! With all that said, I will try it one more time.
