Uhhh. No. Just no. This felt like a dinner out of the Twilight Zone. Has no identity or vibe. Please trust me when I say don’t waste your time or money here.
Nice atmosphere with a father-daughter singing duo. Spacious between tables which allows for table conversations. Food was great albeit little more pricey for what I got...but still good.
Mel - our waitress - was the best. Very friendly, engaging, patient, and willing to try and satisfy any request or need at her reach.
Tables and seats are coming due in some repair/replacement, but overall it was a very pleasant dinner and evening.
The restaurant appears very clean and nice as it seems to be a fairly new construction. The atmosphere is brightly lit, great for my family but I wouldn’t recommend for a romantic evening. Tonight, live music from a single musician was nice and his voice was pleasant. The sound level was comfortable and allowed for easy table conversation.
The food left something to be desired. As in we had to order pizza when we returned to our condo. My spouse and I both ordered the seafood steamer platter. The peel and eat shrimp were soggy at best, and more of a thick separated slime inside the shell. I can’t decide if they were just left in water forever instead of being cooked to order, or if they were several days old.
The sausage too was undercooked and concerning. The potatoes and corn were decently edible, though not well seasoned. The crab legs were ok, but I’ve had much better for less. The portion of crab in this platter was also small compared to cost. 3 legs on my plate, not even a full claw.
The kids had a burger which was cooked well and my very picky son ate it up quickly so it must have tasted good.
My daughter had the kids shrimp basket with fries. Very edible, but the freezer section at the grocery and a microwave will get you the same quality.
Our server was moderately accommodating and attentive. By far not the worst, but coupled with food quality left me wanting for more.
I was HIGHLY disappointed in this meal and experience. I will not return nor recommend this restaurant to any friends.
I was highly disappointed
The food and service are usually above par but not this latest trip. The menu prices are a little high so we save Gilbey's for special occasions or nights when we want to treat ourselves. This trip the food was not hot, took a long time to get to us and several mistakes were made. The waitress admitted she was new and that the restaurant was understaffed that day. She was sorry for each issue but never offered any recompense for our issues.
The Parmesan oysters were amazing! My husband got the crab pot he said it was on point and I got the filet it was awesome. The kids were starving when we got there and they brought crackers bread oranges and cherries for them. They had live music as well. Overall my favorite place. Very kid friendly
It was our first time but we will be back again. It was a nice experience.
The waiter was very attentive and the grouper was delicious. If I'm ever back in town, I'll be sure to come back!!
This place has changed. The quality has gone down since the new ownership. We have been there 3 times since the change and it has gotten worse each time.
Our food was cold once we got it, service was VERY slow and not what it use to be.
We will not be back
Quite disappointed with Gilbey's. I ordered the seafood pasta which was supposed to have shrimp and crab, and it came out with only shrimp, and the sauce had no flavor. Another diner at our table ordered filet medium well and it came out red in the middle. The "crispy potato hash" that came with the filet was more like home fries from a breakfast place. There was no crisp to them. Two diners had crab cakes and they were not crisp at all. They were soggy as if they had been microwaved. I'm not usually a complainer, but I think I would have had better food at an Applebee's. I recommend spending your money elsewhere.
We arrived on time for our reservation. Hostess was not too friendly. We then waited about 20-25 minutes before we received our drinks. Our sweet (but obviously greatly overworked) waitress informed us after we told her our selections for dinner that the kitchen was taking about 1 1/2 hours to get orders out. We started looking around at other tables and then noticed most other customers appeared frustrated, tired and very few actually had food on their table. Since we had 2 children with us, we paid for our drinks and left. By the time we left there we were unable to get into any other “nice” restaurant. We ended up grabbing baskets of fried food at a very casual place. Disappointing night after getting dressed up for a nice meal.
We arrived 15 minutes early for our anniversary dinner. We were told they did not have our reservation even when I showed them my email confirmation. The hostess did seat us, blaming the system for the missed reservation. When we ordered there were multiple things they were out of, even the fish special for the night wasn't available. We waited for an hour for our food and when it arrived, it was cold. Our Steak Oscar sauce was congealed, it had been sitting for so long. Cold potatoes and cold green beans. This was not what we expected for a $100 + dinner for our anniversary. We won't be back.
Just got into town to visit snowbird parents. The food was awesome! Definitely recommend!
The filet mignon was very tender but could have used some salt and pepper PRIOR to cooking. There was some good warm bread but the honey butter was a bit oily and separated--not an overall great item.
Service was on point although it bordered a tad toward overattentive. They use a "runner" system so there were numerous people coming to the table so it got to be a bit much. Let me eat!
Overall, a nice experience although its not exactly a "clubby" steakhouse. Just a nice place for a nice dinner that is not TOO expensive.
The food at Gilbey’s is always good.
We enjoyed the evening very much. We were seated next to a large group and there was no problem when we asked to move to a booth. We all enjoyed the food and even took some home. Would definitely go again.
My wife and I went here to celebrate a birthday and we were disappointed. The service was extremely slow and we were overcharged. I also ordered a bottle of wine which I was told they did not have in stock. I ordered a glass of wine and would have liked another but they didn’t check back. And when we got the bill I noticed they overcharged for the glass of wine I ordered. They corrected it but I don’t plan to return.
Food was delicious, I had the grouper and my husband had the NY strip. Both done to perfection. Cocktails were fabulous and the service was excellent. We sat at the bar.
Excellent choice for Sunday Brunch, Very good food choices and reasonable prices.
Great food. Great atmosphere!
Our waitress was given 29 people all at the same time. She worked her butt off. But the food was just fair. They ran out of. the dessert option and refused to give another choice. Very disappointed and will not go back.
We had terrible service, ordered dirty martinis that were not dirty and came with no olives. The goat cheese salad came with no goat cheese. Our waitress was invisible and not in a good way. Food was decent but it was the worst service ever. We won’t return.
We enjoyed an excellent dinner on Valentine's Day. Highly recommended!
Excellent service and high quality food make this a must-try restaurant. The chef was very accommodating to help my wife with a vegetarian pasta dish. Naturally, the menu is mostly seafood, great for me, not for her. Try the grouper! Good pacing on the meal, server allowed us to enjoy cocktails first without making us feel rush. One of our favorite places.
The crab cakes were exceptional!! I love the lump crabmeat & they were perfect in the Crab Cake Benedict!
Food was terrible. Cheap second rate food. I will not go back. I thought being listed on Open Table it was a top notch restaurant.... wrong.
The menu offered many good choices for both seafood and meat dishes. I went with the 12 oz strip steak and it was excellent! Everyone took add vantage of their one cent cocktails, picking cosmos for a penny.
I had the Salmon which was excellent. My husband had the ribeye and was not that impressed.
Overall we had a good experience and will go back.
Had the seafood pot. It had generous portions of crab legs and shrimp. My date had strip steak. Overall the food was good. The service was average. Prices were reasonable.
The food was good. The crab tomato bisque soup had kale and white beans in it, no crab or tomato. When I questioned him, he said it was correct, I am pretty sure it was the gumbo.
Great food and usually good service. They were very busy over the weekend and it took a long time for our order. They also featured live music which was great!
This was my 4 time visiting this restaurant, and I cannot get enough of the seafood pasta! It was amazing! When you visit, you must try it!
Absolutely freaking amazing. Everything about this place was awesome. The food was great, the drinks were tasty, and the server was amazing. Great honeymoon dinner.
Decent food. Not Great but good. Ordered the Arugula Salad - It was a good salad of mixed greens but not a single leaf of Arugula to be found in it. I would try the restaurant again - It might have been an off night.
Took forever to get asked about drink order and then forever to get drinks. Then forever again to ask us what we would like to order. Never came back to ask us if we would like another drink or even to refill our water. First time here will never go back and would not recommend.
Very good food, fine service. The atmosphere was just a bit off. It was kind of like fine dining in the booths along the left hand wall, and the tables in the middle, and a sports bar down the whole right side. Since the space is largely open, the multiple large screen football games were a bit intrusive into what would otherwise haven been a very nice quiet even romantic feel. We had the blackened Cobia and bone-in Ribeye. Both were excellent. Our sever Steven was great, and the price was rather reasonable. We'll be back!
Food and service were outsrsnding. We are in vacation for a few days but hope to return soon and would definitely plan to have dinner at Gilbey's again!!
We waited for an hour with a toddler. Never got our meal. Told server if wasn't going to be ready in a few minutes we needed to leave. She did offer to pay for our meal, but couldn't give us an estimate of when we would get our meal. We had ordered an appetizer of calamari, but they were out. We left without getting any food other than the kid's macaroni. Very dissatisfied.
No refills were offered, our waiter was training a new waiter and seemed to disappear for long periods of time. The food was very good not great for thr price. I would dine there again but it wouldn't be my first choice.
Wonderful dinner. Maria was excellent server. Had great steak and grouper.
Looking for steak and seafood on recent trip. Gilbeys did not disappoint!! Excellent ribeyes and seafood dishes.
