Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse - Rosemont
Book your next event with us
Tables stacked together. Waiters and guests constantly bumping into us. Steak was pedestrian.
Donald was very friendly and helpful. Our steaks were cooked to perfection. We tried the Elotes and it was wonderful. We probably could have ordered 2 it was that good. We were excited to see that the strawberry shortcake was actual shortcake and not sponge cake. We will definately be coming back!
The dining experience was phenomenal! Oysters were fresh and loved that it came with horseradish and Tabasco without having to ask for them. We LOVE LOVE their WR cut with peppercorn. They are cooked perfectly every time. My husband wants to see how they are cooked 😊. We finished the night with fruit sorbet and creme brûlée. My fiends enjoyed the sorbet very much and my husband and I wanted to lick the creme brûlée bowl. It was super creamy and the carmelized sugar had the right thickness and flavor.
Our highlight of the night was our server Ugo. He was amazing with prompt service, great conversation and making appropriate recommendations. We will definitely return and let all our family and friends know that Gibson’s is the place to go for special occasions.
Wow, what a great experience. Our waiter was fantastic. The moderately priced wine he suggested was great. The steaks were cooked perfectly and were high quality. The waiter voluntarily suggested half portions on the side dishes which was appropriate and saved us some money. All around excellent experience
I understand this is a nice restaurant but no matter how nice if your food is not fixed the way you enjoy it does not matter.
We first started going to Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse - Rosemont by accident... it was close to our hotel. Once we went once we were hooked, and make it a regular part of our annual visit. This year, as every year, we had a great dinner.
They had ran out of almost everything on the menu so o was only able to have mashed potatoes and broccoli. I don’t eat red meat and they they didn’t have any salmon or chicken due to them running out so my first and last experience was horrible due to the lack of food..The server was AWESOME! The ice cream at the end was fantastic the mashed potatoes and broccoli was delicious as well, my bread was cold though.
We were seated an hour and 20 minutes past our reservations. Also, Gibson’s was out of crab cakes and salmon. Will not go back!
Yes I would tell a friend to go there the place was nice
It was Mother’s Day and the place was mobbed. They had too many people and not enough tables. Almost everyone that came after 6 PM had to wait at least an hour to get there table. That was quite disappointing. Nonetheless, once seated, service was very good and the food was top notch as it always is at Gibsons. The people at the front desk should be ashamed of themselves telling people that it will be 10 to 15 minutes when it really will be one hour. Be honest and I think people would be much happier.
We had 6pm reservations & weren't seated until6:40. What's the point of a reservation? Their greed made them accept too many reservations & take too many walk ins
After having been to Gibson’s multiple times and always being satisfied, this unfortunately was a bad experience, had reservations for 5:30 on Mother’s Day , checked in at 5:25 but at that time was never told we would end up waiting until 7:15 to be seated , checked with the host multiple times and not one time were we told they were running that behind, once seated an 1:45 minutes after our reservation time our waiter did his best to make up for the long wait but even after we ordered our food we had exceptionally long wait for our food, so much so our waiter took care of our drinks, as much as I appreciated the gesture I’d rather have paid for my drinks instead of waiting as long as we did , when you don’t get out of dinner until close to 9pm when you had a 5:30 reservation is not acceptable, if the host had been upfront immediately with us about the wait I may have went elsewhere, I believe at best I should have been offered some compensation other than a couple drinks, if you are unable to handle that type of crowd on a holiday maybe cut back on what you take in .
MOTHER’S DAY: Speaking only for this specific visit, we made reservations in advance for 5:30pm and arrived at the restaurant at 5:20pm. You could barely fit in the front door because of the obscene amount of people in the lobby waiting for tables. Once we checked in, we grabbed a drink at the bar while we waited and thankfully we did. We weren’t seated until 6pm and when we entered the dining room, it seemed as though they had added tables to accommodate extra guests on this occasion. While I understand that, it definitely brought the noise level way up, felt so crowded even the staff had trouble navigating between tables, your neighbors were right next to you and the service was slowed because of the heavy volume.
We were greeted and had a chance to refresh our beverages, but were warned ticket times were running 45min at minimum. After about 10min, we managed to put an order in, but unfortunately they were out of four or five main dishes and a few sides already. We had to switch two items on our original order because of this. We skipped appetizers and salads because we were concerned about the timing as we had an 8pm reservation afterwards for an activity that we wanted to make sure we were on time for.
Our food came out around 45 minutes later and looked amazing! Unfortunately, they confused the temps on the meats and my mom’s was more rare than she likes and my brothers was more done than he prefers. The brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes were delicious, though!
At this point, it was already 7:30pm and we had to skip dessert, even though that’s what we really wanted to order. By the time we paid our bill, we had to cancel our activity because we couldn’t make it and pay a cancellation fee on it. Not happy about that.
While the food was absolutely delicious, the atmosphere on this particular day and the way the timing worked out was extremely disappointing. I wish they had planned better and made sure all tables kept moving so reservations were timely.
My husband and I have been dining at Gibson for several years and we loved it. This Sunday we went for Mother's day. The appetizers were good but we ordered their W.C. Chicago steak and we couldn't have not been more disappointed. It was mainly fat and tough ligaments. As result of our meal we have been with an upset stomach since Sunday evening. I don't know if I would want to pay such high price for a meal again that is not worth it.
We had a 5pm reservation and did not get seated until 5:45. We had a mother who needed to catch a flight, and therefore we were not able to eat a meal.
There should NEVER be a time where a patron waits 45 minutes. If we were late by 45 minutes, you would NEVER hold our table
We had a 5pm reservation...but waited almost an hour to be seated. When we ordered the restaurant was out of chicken and baked potatoes. Bad experience. Very disappointed
Over all very good, but they were terribly behind on reservations on Sunday. Had a 5:00 and was seated at 6:10. The hostess did her best controlling the crowd but more honesty would have helped. Upon arrival were told it would be a few minutes. 70 is not a few. They were out of about 12 things by the time we ordered. The server was wonderful and accommodating and the food sans the coconut cream pie, which was inedible and returned, was delish. There wasn’t a single apology for the delay in seating nor was anything offered to us as compensation. Prices are steep but fair. This is a top notch restaurant that I love and am happy spending substantial money dining at. $17.25 for a Hendricks Up seems a touch steep but it didn’t stop me from having two.
Great food! Mother's day so was real busy but no problem .
I was really hoping to have a great meal on Mother's day at this place, i would not go back or recommend to any of my friends. There were 7 of us and they seat us at the most tight spot there and my father got pushed. They moved us and our food took 2 hours and not only that but we had to send 2 plates back the food was cold. we order their cake and it was dry, it was awful. for their prices you would think the food would be a tastier and with faster and better services.
Loved the entire experience. Service was timely and professional and the food was amazing
My mother and I went to Gibson’s for Mother’s Day. The full menu was offered. Restaurant was full. Service was very good. Fillet medallions were great. Sides are huge! Deserts are huge! Mom and I shared creme brûlée. Had a nice enjoyable lunch. Longest wait was at valet waiting for my car.
Too crowded. The first table I was taken to we would have blocked the other table in. I had to request a booth. They should reconsider the number of tables in between booths.
Service was great as well as the food.
We normally go to the Oakbrook location. The steaks were undercooked. Medium is not mostly red in the middle. Medium at Oakbrook is pink throughout, a bit red. Service was good but it's outstanding at Oakbrook. We expected the same.
We went to Gibson’s Steakhouse to celebrate my wife for Mother’s Day. The experience from the valet when we arrive until the point we were about to leave was amazing. The food was perfectly cooked to our request, the server was amazingly sweet and the ambiance was great. First time at Gibson’s and we are planning our next visit back. Awesome for big ocasiones. Highly recommend this place.
Great food is fantastic
There were 6 of us each ordered something different Salmon, 20oz porterhouse, 16oz felite minion, ribeye, crabcakes, and lobster tail. plus giant size side dishes. Water ever your in the mood for will definitely tickle your fancy. Dont forget the side dishes large enough to share. ENJOY!
I've been to Gibsons quite a bit but this was my worst experience; maybe because it was lunch but I'm not sure. We were never given bread/chips until we asked which was 30 minutes into service and they apologized, they didn't give us a butter knife either but I was tired of having to ask for things. Our waiter was extremely nice but seemed distracted and was often at a table near us chatting with a couple so it was hard to get their attention. I brought our entire family their for an early Mother's day and wasn't that great of an experience especially considering the Gibsons brand. My mother wanted some mariniara or some sauce to go with her chicken but I never saw the waiter after our food was served so couldn't ask. Also we never got any kids coloring things which was a surprise and I was tired of asking for things at this point. Just not what I would normally expect form Gibsons.
Here you get pretty much what you pay for--menu, food preparation, and service as good as you'll find anywhere I know of.
Awesome service as always. Keeps us coming back. Food??? Prefect
Very mediocre for the price. My halibut was dry very dry. I’ve had much better for less price. The sides were also small for the money. Overall a very poor value.
When at Gibsons you must have a steak. Perfectly cooked with a nice char on the outside.
Bacon cheeseburger was delicious!
Gibson’s staff was exceptional. On a busy night they went out of their way to accommodate our group which was larger than what we reserved. Management and staff were top shelf and the dining experience was wonderful!
Very attentive servers! What a great experience for all!
Very crowded and over seated. Food was not as good as usual and overall didn’t feel good value for premium price
Excellent food quality and service!! I absolutely love the Gibson’s experience!!
Great food and service! Amazing food
Amazing Rib Eye steak. Amazing Brussels sprouts. Amazing service. Avoid the cole slaw. Drinks a bit watered down.
Gibson's is always a special treat. Our favorite steaks are the bone-in ribeye listed as W. R.'s Chicago Cut 22 oz. The breads they serve are wonderful and we love the sides. I have never yet saved room for dessert. You will definitely feel pampered by the gracious, professional service at Gibson's in Rosemont.
Very good food and atmosphere. Lots of menu choices. A great place to visit with friends.
