Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse - Oak Brook Ratings and Reviews
The food as always was sensational. Felt rushed by the staff all meal though. It was Monday, MLK day and the restaurant was quieter, and the staff and waiter were all over us. I felt like it was a track meet to serve and get us out the door. It was a client meeting so I was hoping for a more leisured pace. Gibson's OB is first rate - love to dine there.
Celebrating three family birthdays ages 70, 18 and 16----everyone in our party of eight enjoyed the wonderful food and outstanding service....all exceptional and we can't wait to return for future celebrations! The manager and service staff went beyond excellent service to insure that our party was a great success! Thank you, Gibson's Oak Brook!
I want to be clear that our waitress was fantastic before I begin. She anticipated all our moves. My wife ordered steak which cam with mashed potatoes. She did not tell anyone but there was a hair in her potatoes. The steak was fabulous. She also ordered Carrot cake which was a quarter of the cake. However, the cake itself was dry. It actually was better the next day. My son and I ordered the mac and cheese which was very good. I also had the shrimp cocktail which was outstanding. I was a little disappointed by what my wife went through. She did not want to embarrass us so she kept it quiet. I told her for this kind of money please speak up next time. However, all and all it was a nice lunch.
The steak salad was not good. Hardly any bleu cheese or dressing. Two slices of cucumber. I make better salad at home. Drink prices for a Kahlua & Cream and a Baileys - $14.00 each??? Ridiculous. Won't come back probably - too many other cool places in Oak Brook. Sorry.
Service was excellent, steaks always perfect. We had a late lunch due to our schedules. Although the place is usually busy & loud, we were seated @ 2:00 pm, place was near empty @ 3pm. Service remained top notch, we weren’t rushed. Dishes all prepared exceptionally well. I’ve never been disappointed. I truly enjoy going to Gibson’s.
Everything was great until salads came out and there was a lady bug in one of our salads. Very gross, not what I expect at a restaurant of this caliber. They were very apologetic and we received some drinks and desert on the house but still ruined our appetite no one wanted to eat their salad. Not sure if we would return.
We love meeting our friends for dinner at Gibson's. The food is great, the servers are very engaging, and the restaurant is very comfortable. However, I find the presence of a washroom attendant disturbing. I cannot imagine a more demeaning position for an individual.
normally this place is outstanding in both food and service. Last Saturday night we had a waiter who abandoned my party for about a half hour after drinks were brought. No one came for our appetizer order and the waiter came back 35 minutes later to get our entrees. Strange. I was just about to say something to the captain but the waiter kind of tried to make it up to us so I let it go. but when the bill is over $600 you really do want superior service.
Packed in like a can of sardines does not make a good dining experience. When you have people pushing into your chair, going over your head with trays of food squeezing through tables and booths while you are trying to eat and have a conversation was truly a negative and unpleasant experience for Gibson’s which is suppose to be an upper scale restaurant.
Visited on a Friday night with a group of four. The food was impeccable as always, however the service was very slow and the wait staff was not as attentive as they have been times before.... we were there for about two hours and our server rarely stopped by to see if we needed more drinks. Our group had the salmon, scallops and steak and all were amazing. The Pinot Noir was disappointing but overall Gibson’s is still a fantastic meal and atmosphere.
Usually very enjoyable. This time not so much. Arrived at 12:30 p.m for New Year's Eve lunch like we do every year. Restaurant was very cold and it was not decorated prior to our arrival which was very usual. It was so cold in the restaurant that we did not enjoy our lunch and mentioned it several times. The balloon company arrived for decorating and the door was held open constantly. Not a good idea when the weather is below zero. The lunch was over $300.00 for a party of 4. Treatment of the customers should have come first. Felt like we were cheated this year. New Year we will go down the street as there are other restaurants in the Oak Brook area.
Dinner at Gibsons while visiting Chicago was a very nice experience overall. The service was good but as busy as it was we felt a bit rushed... The food was excellent and as we were there 2 days before New Years, it was very busy as expected so they had the tables very close together to squeeze more patrons in. Overall a good meal and experience but expected more from the Gibsons name and reputation.
My favorite steakhouse, hands down! I requested dinner here for my birthday. I absolutely love the steaks at Gibson's, but I'm also spoiled and cannot eat lobster anywhere but here! First off, the best dirty martini (big) and with bleu cheese olives!
We both had the medium lobster tail, and our turf was the W.R. cut bone-in ribeye! Dinner came with a side salad, which we both chose since we love their garlic dressing. Also ordered a side of mushrooms and brussel sprouts. I focused on the enormous lobster tail and brought much of my steak home to enjoy. Since it was my birthday, they gave me a great chocolate sundae (the chocolate sauce is unbelievable)!
It was everything I remembered and then some. It was a splurge for sure, but what the heck, it's my birthday and I'll eat lobsta if I want to!! Do it!!
