Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse - Oak Brook Ratings and Reviews
Very Very good food. The service was top notch and the ONLY negative is the pricing. Figure at least $100.00 per person for an average time there.
There are cheaper places for sure, but if you want a guaranteed good time with delicious food, this is the place.
Was not impressed, the whole meat demo was over the top and for the price of $60+ i expect to be wowed by the flavor and while the steak was cooked well other aspects were not , the lobster and drawn butter were not up to par and brussels just lathered in sauce , no finess.
For the tune of $137 plus a over gracious $27 tip for 2 people i did not feel i got my moneys worth and will not return.
Gibson's is one of our "special occasion" spots. It's a little pricey for Tuesday night dinner. I'm not much of a red meat eater, but I always get a steak at Gibson's. This visit for my birthday did not disappoint. The sundae they brought for my birthday was a nice touch. The only reason I did not give high marks for noise was a group near us. I realize the noise was beyond Gibson's control. I also like that they don't try to rush you out.
The food and establishment was nice but my waiter was kind of rude. He tossed crackers across the table at someone instead of handing them to her. He was talking all over the food not saying excuse me when reaching. Other than that everything else was great.
Gibsons is always on point. I am not much of a steak eater, but when I do have steak I want to have it at a great steak house. Gibson’s delivered again. (The leftover steak was great with eggs the next morning... 😋Sides are always big enough to share.
We received the seating we wanted, the wait staff was terrific!
Just one suggestion... we were celebrating an anniversary and while it was in my reservation notes, we didn’t know that they were going to bring a dessert. In the mean time we ordered dessert...(really good creme brûlée)... we ended up taking the creme brûlée home, but sort of a waste. ... good as they are we didn’t need two desserts. 😀 It would have been helpful to know about the complimentary dessert....
All in all, highly recommended!
I always enjoy dining at Gibson's and last night was no exception. I was a little disappointed in my Ribeye as it was a little stringy. Great flavor but chewy. I give Gibson's only three stars (I also give three stars to most of the Chicago Steakhouse standards) because of the uninspiring job they do with the food around the steaks. The vegetable and potato offerings were just a cut above a cheap steakhouse. If you are going to charge $60 for a ribeye, have some great side dishes to go with them, not the boring standards that you can easily do at home.
Having been to Gibson's a few times for dinner, we decided to try it for a Sunday afternoon lunch. One of us ordered the meatloaf. Outstanding! Made with USDA Prime makes all the difference. The chicken soup beforehand was also very good. The other entree order was the salmon encrusted in farro and served with arugula and halved cherry tomatoes. Certainly lighter than the meatloaf and equally outstanding. The Italian Chianti went surprising well with the salmon. The house salad was no more than lettuce, one cherry tomato and a small slice of cucumber. House dressing, ordered on the side, was oil heavy but nicely herbed. No salad next time. Gibson's for lunch is highly recommended. Beautifully quiet, interesting menu for really not much more $$ than most other restaurants these days. Cheers!
We had a reservation for 7pm and weren't seating until 7:30pm. The hostess told us that she was working down a list of reserved tables and we could wait in the bar. The bar area was very crowded and we spent a half hour waiting in this space even with a reservation. I understand that it was a Saturday night but with a reservation the wait was too long. Our server did a nice job and the food was what I expected but nothing spectacular. I would consider going back in the future but wouldn't rush back.
My wife and I went there for our anniversary. They have a few locations and being from Indiana I decided to go to this location so we didn't have to deal with the city and its right off the highway. The service was amazing and we've decided we definitely need to make it a regular location for us to go to on a date night or with friends and family.
Truly appreciate the ability on Open Table to request a quiet corner for conversation. Not only was our table in a great quiet spot but beautiful view of outdoors/waterfall. Arrived early and beat the noisy crowd on a Friday afternoon.
Personable waiter. But why did Gibson's not add a Ladies Room on main level after their massive expansion?
Had a dinner with our niece who we hadn't seen in a couple of years!! Waitress was excellent at the description of the menu and live presentation of some of the different steaks. Noise level was great and had a piano player in the background. Would definitely recommend and would come back.
The best lobster tail anywhere! Had a special birthday for my brother and they made it especially nice. The steaks as always are superb and made exactly to order. The service is great. Only complaint was there was too much food with the sides...plus side we all had doggie bags! Number one pick for special dinners. Thanks Gibsons Staff.
