Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse - Oak Brook Ratings and Reviews
Three of our six meals had to go back to the kitchen- cold; another’s meat was not done as requested .
So half of our group ate and then 10 ish min. Later the rest.
The manager offered dessert to make up for the problems. We were given menus to order and then no choice he sent dessert not on the menu- Not what we were going to order!
Mediocre! Very disappointing!!!!!!
Great place to go with a date or friends. Waitress was great. Very attentive. Not pushy. My steak was cooked perfect (medium rare). My wife had the Chilean Sea Bass. It was fantastic. Drinks were great. Lively and fun place to go. Way better than a lot of the new trendy steakhouses downtown.
We love Gibson's! One thing on this evening. We arrived for our 7 pm reservation thru Open Table. They were, as always very busy, and we waited 45 minutes to be seated.
They did reciprocate with a nice appetizer for our trouble, along with apologies from management.
The reason I'm writing this is that they went the extra step to make up for our wait, which was and is appreciated. We will always continue dining with them. Glad to see they are busy!
Our waitress was very nice at first. Then she began with an attitude. She would remove things from our table without asking us. We felt rushed. We were trying to enjoy our food and have a conversation as well. Food was ok. We were going to do dessert but she made us feel unwelcomed. I probably would never come again
Went to celebrate our 39th Father&Daughter Christmas Dinner Date. Party of 7—dad and his 6 kids. Had a fantastic waiter named Katie who truly made our celebration so much more fun!! Martinis were great and the food was delicious and done to perfection as usual. Definitely always enjoy Gibson’s. It was quite loud this night as there were so many big parties celebrating the holiday season.
Service in the dining room was exceptional. Cannot say the same about the bar. Had to flag the waitress for a second round, and when served she put the wrong drinks in front of us ( one gin and one vodka). Our table for 2 was not a priority when we told her we would moving to the dining room shortly.
The food was okay but I've had better steaks. My dining experience was a whirlwind. The restaurant was crowded and extremely noisy which is okay but the frenetic pace was overwhelming. I understand that being attentive to your patrons is important but the speed it was delivered was too fast. I felt like I was having a funnel shoved down my throat while servers poured food down it. I felt really rushed to eat and get out. It wasn't just our table but the entire restaurant. The noise level is so loud that we had to practically shout to have a conversation. If you want to have a moderately paced dining experience where you don't have to shout, then this isn't the restaurant for you. You could categorize the restaurant as fast-food because their speed is faster than McDonalds. That's okay for a hamburger but not when I'm spending $150 for a meal.
I really like this place, but I was disappointed this time. I asked for medium well and got medium, not that big of a deal. They just reheated it with the crust on it and the butter on it, so the crust looked burnt, blue cheese crust, and the butter looked curdled. I used OpenTable to make my reservation, I made a comment that we were celebrating our anniversary and they said they had no idea it was our anniversary. #disappointed.
The food was very good - some of the food was excellent. The desserts were amazing. The prices are above average, but not outrageous. The restaurant was decorated very nicely for the Holidays. I must say - the service - from the server, busboy, valet attendants and others - very attentive...excellent service. I would definitely come back and recommend.
