Giardino D'Oro Ratings and Reviews
I live in the neighborhood and have been wanting to try this restaurant for a long time because it looked cute from the street. I would peer inside every time I walked by. I decided to take my mom to dinner to celebrate her birthday. We both had the same dishes. The buratta it self was not bad, but the tomato was very cold and tasteless. The shrimp were bland and the sauce was terrible.
The service is exceptional but sadly the food is underwhelming and very expensive.
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner as the Rack of Lamb special served over spinach with fresh mushrooms was outstanding in all regards - taste, cooking temperature & presentation. The pasta dishes were incredibly fresh and equally as exciting to my dinner partners. A great wine list but no Antinori Tignanello that I could find. Great service, but felt as if the food came out of the kitchen a bit quick as we were finished within an hour +. The Tiramisu for desert is a must. Would strongly recommend and we plan to visit again on another trip to NYC.
Lovely attentive staff, nice ambiance but I cannot give high marks because the entrees are expensive compared to other Italian restaurants in the area who serve the same dishes. This was a pricey business lunch of which I don't have a real budget but when it's submitted, I myself would raise an eyebrow. Word to the wise, when ordering off the menu, ask the price. A lunch entree with shrimp, pasta and broccoli rabe should never cost almost $50!!! Disappointed by the colleague who recommended this place.
First time visit as we celebrated our wedding anniversary on a Thursday evening. Upscale Italian dining, but without pretentious attitudes. Perfect establishment for a romantic and relatively quiet (nice background music) evening. Meal started out with a bread basket which included cheese, olives, salami and peppers. Only disappointment was that no olive oil or butter was served. Not sure if this was routine, or they simply neglected to include it.
Everything else about the meal was very good, including the cheese cake we ordered for dessert. Our waiter even included an after dinner drink, at no cost. Nice touch!
Definitely recommend Giardino D'Oro if spending time in the Financial District or South Street Seaport area.
We waited a while to try this traditional Italian restaurant in the Financial District and finally made it over there for New Years Eve dinner. It was low key, which is what we desired, with a few balloons and hats to borrow for a photo. The wine list leaned toward high end wines from France and Italy, with some good California choices as well. Not a bad bottle on the list but it could use a few more moderately priced, good wines. The service was very attentive and the food was well prepared and delicious. We plan to return to Giardino D'Oro.
