Giardino - by Russo's on the Bay Ratings and Reviews
Dinner at Giardinos this past Saturday night there were 4 of us and it was our first time dining here we all loved our entrees! I ordered the chicken cacciatore and it was probably the best I've ever had the service was on the ball and the prices were very reasonable the only negatives were the valet across the street was a pain in the pouring rain and the restaurant was very hot and uncomfortable inside but other than that we had a great meal
Very attentive host and staff. Food was great and not super expensive . A few things that was a little off was one of the waitresses kept coming to ask if we were done with the menus before we ordered because it seemed they didn’t have enough to give out .. and second that when you walk in there is a desk there but no host.. if someone didn’t tell us as they were leaving that you needed to go down the hall into the restaurant to be seated we would have just waited there. Very awkward set up and not very welcoming when you come in .
This is my husband and my "go to " Italian restaurant. Food is always delicious and the service is excellent. We've also had several parties over the years. I always receive compliments from my guests. Two weeks ago my husband and I celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary and did a vow renewal . The staff couldn't have been more attentive and as always the food was great!
I've attended business meetings here, but this was my first time enjoying the main restaurant area. Everything was delicious! Chicken Francese meatballs, calamari, penne a la vodka, striped bass & chicken scarpariello. Dessert was a cannoli sundae! Instead of wine, we had the Pina Colada Sangria.... OMG! Gennaro answered any questions we had with ease. Can't wait for my next visit!
We first came to Giardino's about 25 years ago when it was known as the cheap pasta joint. Since those good old days, we've been back many times for brunches, birthday parties and just everyday dining and Giardino's answers the call for all those occasions. Good food, beautiful decor with skylights that make for a sun-shiny fun place to eat.
My family is a regular and the services has always been better than most. Smaller than average menu. Great Octopus and fire oven Pizzas. Lovely Tuscan style décor and very comfortable seating.
Its a neighborhood location that deserves more promotion. Free parking and easy to get to on Northern Blvd.
Had high hopes for this restaurant, but was very disappointed with my visit. I understand the day we went is a busy day but my goodness the service was absolutely terrible, we even saw a couple get up and leave because of the extremely slow service. It took us close a hr and a half to get our food, and when it did come it wasn't anything special but we were so hungry we didn't care. Our waiter didn't check up on us once and took him 15 minutes just to bring a soda, we asked for a dessert menu and he took so long to bring it we just asked someone else for our check. Saw the Russo on the bay affiliation and expected a much better experience but was wrong. The only plus for the night was that it's a nice looking place inside.
Old-school Queens Italian, reliably and consistently good typical Italian fare. We love 1/2 price wine bottle Wednesdays! Mom and cousin had linguine with clams and red sauce, very good. I had the veal saltimboca, very good. We share the Portuguese octopus appetizer, very good, and finished with the lava cake and creme brulee, both good too.
Service was superb. We asked to move as a vent was a bit to I much for one of our party and our request was graciously accepted. I'd mentioned we had a birthday at our table and the staff surprised us with a sparkler in a dessert! A truly memorable experience for our 75 year young guest of honor.
The tiramisu was delicious. The shrimp parmigiana was nicely prepared as well. However, the chicken rollatini was slightly dry however and no perceptible raisins unfortunately.
One of our "go-to" spots for the family. My favorite dishes are the octopus and the sungilli, either fra diablo, or marinara. They have a delicious thin crust pizza, which I recommend should be ordered to share with the table.
Their house wines are well picked and the service doesn't get much better in the area. My wife and kid loved the Tuscany feel as you enter the premises, and the valet parking across the street is a big plus.
Finally, they make a great Manhattan and the prices are very reasonable. I will continue to patronize this lovely gem in the area.
This restaurant used to have better food and service. Pasta was way undercooked and the eggplant was chewy with dollop of cold ricotta cheese on top. Fried zucchini drenched in cooking oil. Restaurant mostly empty at prime dinner hour on Sunday maybe because people have grown disenchanted with this restaurant that used to be much better. Prices on the other hand have increased. We won't be back.
