This is the story of Paolo and Matteo, two guys from Milano who had an idea. Let's take the the heart of our tradition and fuse it with the exciting innovations happening in Italian cooking, they said. Inspired by the Roman deity Janus who looked to the future as well as the past, Giano respects tradition and embraces the future. Enter Simone Bonelli. After 4 years at a Michelin starred restaurant in Italy, he came to NY to where it took him about 6 months to earn 2 stars from Frank Bruni at a publication you may have heard of, The New York Times. As executive chef and co-owner, Chef Bonelli blends cutting edge technique & gorgeous flavors with outstanding presentation- and for those of you who think you've seen it all, trust us, you haven't. We like to think of our little corner in the east village as quite special, and hope you will too

One of the most incredible meals I've ever had! The ravioli special and filet mignon dish are amazing! We love this place.

Giano was amazing! It was my second time back but this time was a date with my girlfriend to celebrate an early Valentine's Day. The boat was great because we originally made a reservation for 7PM but we were feeling hungry so we asked if we could bump it to 6PM. The host was happy to do that for us! The food was great all the way from the appetizer to the famous tiramisu. Service was great as well as our waters were refilled promptly and we didn't have to wait long for food at all! Love this place, 10/10!

Giano remains my favorite restaurant in the city. Outstanding northern Italian food with an equally stellar Italian wine list to complement the entrees. The warm service is top notch.

My boyfriend and I are loyal devotees to Giano, which we discovered last summer. It truly is a remarkable place to dine. Unpretentious, warm, inviting, and soothing are what comes to mind when I think of this restaurant. I chose to dine here on my birthday because of their kind service and delicious food, which are both always consistent.

The gnocchi is probably are favorite, in addition to the salmon, asparagus appetizer, and lava chocolate cake. The entire staff is professional, genuine, and contribute to the ambience of the unique space. To sum it up, you should pay a visit to them soon. Definitely worth your time.

Giano was a good local place to go in the neighborhood. We arrived at 6P, and it was empty. An hour later, the place was full, so it's clearly a popular local joint. Food was good - but heavy on the rich, creamy pasta type dishes. The only dish that was mediocre was the lasagne. Lamb shank was tender, needed a bit of seasoning, the 2 special pasta dishes were satisfying and good. Decor is nothing special. Music a bit too loud, but when we asked politely if they could turn it down, they were super nice about it. Our host/waiter was extremely theatrical!

Service here was quick and attentive and the portions for the non-pasta dishes we got were larger than expected. I loved the arugula salad that was a side on my chicken dish, loved the burrata appetizer.
