We have come to Gianni's for many years. However we have been disappointed in our last 2 visits. Both times the steak ordered medium well was delivered to table nearly rare and inedible for my wife. And rather than making a new steak for her they just recooked the old. Not very professional, they only offered free dessert. We did have a nice server, and the spun salad is still just amazing. However unless you like your steak rare or medium rare, beware.
Gianni’s is consistently wonderful! We love going there for special occasions.
Always good. Service and atmosphere are great.
Only steak that's better is Swift and Sons in Chicago.
It was a friends birthday.
Always 5 Star
Excellent steak but the highlight of the meal was the old fashion and the spun salad.
Our server was very attentive to our needs; he made our dining experience wonderful. The food was delicious. We ordered the stuffed hash brown and WOW! You could make a meal of just the hash browns they were golden brown crispy on the outside and deliciously tender on the inside filled with sour cream and chives. The Chilean sea bass was delicate and sweet. Thanks for the delicious birthday surprise treat! Wonderful way to celebrate!
We went there with a expectation and they delivered. In all ways. Fork drop...
Giannis is our special place. Moved from Mpls 12 years ago yet always make time to come back to this neighborhood gem. Excellent wine list, tableside Caesar salad is an experience, and steaks are melt in your mouth delicious. Great service by Nick and the staff. Will be back again soon.
Wonderful meal as always. We had extra diners join our party and Gianni’s accommodated us...no problems.
Wonderful service and food.
The food was very good but the server was not. Our table was missing some silverware, we had to ask the person who brought us our wine for it.
Get together with friends for Restaurant Week. Three of us had never been here before. The steak & salad was great. The noise level was so loud when we first arrived at 7:15 we could hardly each other. Later in the evening it was better. Our waiter was fantastic. I enjoyed it, but personally think that 6Smith, COV & Bellecour are better options.
My family and I had a reservation on the last day of Minneapolis Restaurant Week Oct. 2019 which was the purpose of our visit. We started out with each of us having an Old Fashioned cocktail and I would say they are by far the best in the Twin Cities. We chose to do the week's special set dinner menu for $35. There was a choice of walleye or a 6 oz filet and also included a small serving of mash potatoes and asparagus. The dinner starter was their famous salad with any or all their toppings (far too many to list) which were all fresh, delicious and made right at your table side to your specification. Our entrees were the filets. We all agreed the filets were exceptionally tasty, perfectly cooked (each as requested) and were like butter melting in our mouths. We ordered an additional side of potatoes (which was then way too much food). Also included was a choice of 1 of 2 desserts. We all had the butterscotch budino and it was the perfect ending to a perfect meal. Our server could not have been nicer or more attentive in fact the entire staff was amazing. The restaurant was packed with people and the staff never slowed down with their service. We were absolutely stuffed when we left and couldn't believe that Gianni's served us full portions for such a unbeleivably inexpensive price. What a great place and we will definitely be back there soon! Thank you, Gianni.
Always incredible service and delectable dinner! Never disappoints!!
My favorite Steak House - especially during Restaurant Week!
We were there for a birthday. Had a marvelous time!
Very good food and service, good value also for restaurant week.
It's been some time since we'd been to Gianni's, and Restaurant Week prompted us to dine there. We were very pleased with the service, and the food. Our visit served to remind us we need to get there more often.
Nick was an excellent server, attentive, friendly and personable. The only part that we considered a negative was the upcharge for the wine. We chose what we thought was a Malbec, but it was a Cab. Nick brought us a taste of 2 wines and we liked the wine that we chose enough to put in our list of wines to buy. We were surprised to see that the exact wine was 11.00 at Total Wine and the charge was 48.00. We are accustomed to double price but quadruple was a bit much.
The table side salad preparation was fantastic! The steak was delicious too...a great experience!
Great food and service at a very reasonable price
Excellent location also.
We had an absolutely wonderful server who made the night very special. The food was delicious as well; we will definitely be back soon!
This is the 1st time we’ve been here upon a recommendation, I wanted to try but knew this is a spendy place, hence restaurant week. The spin salad table side is a nice but unnecessary touch. Tenderloin is overpriced. Added the lobster bisque, nice and creamy & huge chunks lobster, once again overpriced for a bowl of soup. Dessert choices were both rich but a great portion size. Gianni’s over all, a place that is too foo foo for me. Not my cup of tea and I’m sure my presence will not be missed.
Great waitress. Food excellent
The 3 course Restaurant Week meal was quite good. Only two choices but that worked for us. Our ribeye was fabulous, mashed potatoes were fine and asparagus was done just right. Our server was excellent. The atmosphere is very dark and old school but nice. Overall we a good experience,
We dined during restaurant week. Fantastic value, spun salad (yum) 6 oz fillet, asparagus, mashed potatoes, (we ordered the paplette as well) and the butterscotch dessert! What a value and still the highest quality. Super service. We requested a booth to better hear our conversations. Highly recommend!
Always a great meal and excellent experience. It was our anniversary and the staff was great! Our meals were delicious, exactly what you'd expect from Gianni's. It's not a value place, it's a celebration place. We loved it!
Good food good service and great atmosphere. Recommend.
Always an exquisite experience at Giannis. It is our go to favorite when we have guests or special occasions ... as well as anytime , day or season . Staff is amazingly professional, knowledgeable and pleasant. The owner really knows her business and it shows in every detail . Loving Giannis!
Birthday, very nice comped dessert
Absolutely wonderful! If you’re looking for a cozy place with great food, drinks and atmosphere, Gianni’s is your place!
We are new to the area and was looking for a special place to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We picked Gianni's based on a recommendation by our neighbor and reviews on OpenTable, we were told it was a great place for special occasions and would probably become our new tradition. We notified the restaurant in our reservation of our special night, and when we arrived were also asked about it by the hostess, but not one word was said by the waiter to acknowledge it at all. Our friend had to go an find the waiter and make sure he knew it was our anniversary before dessert came out -so he could put a candle in the cake. which he did and when he came to the table, he said happy anniversary to basically to the back of the booth, because there was no eye contact with anyone. I'm not expecting a hug or a song but did expect acknowledgment of our special night. This probably won't become the tradition.
Great friendly service and tasty food!
Giannis continues to be a favorite for family celebrations and special occasions. Service is outstanding and while expensive, the food was excellent as always and the steak was cooked perfectly. Great to have a local spot that remains top notch.
Classic steakhouse in Wayzata. It's barely changed in the 12-15 years I have been eating there and I mean that in best possible way. The spun salad is a must. This was a quiet Sunday night so they weren't very busy. The service was impeccable.
The good and service were stellar. Highly recommend.
