Gianni's Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
We've only been to Gianni's twice now in the last year but will start making this a regular go to. The food, wine, and service are impeccable. We got the antipasto, spun salad with their homemade Caesar dressing, and rib eye steak that was cooked perfectly. It has a fun atmosphere and is right by lake Minnetonka for an evening walk after/before dinner.
I’m sorry, I just cannot justify the prices. Impeccable service, but I can create as good if not better steaks on my grill at home for one quarter the price. The noise level is almost unbearable. My wife and I could barely carry on a conversation. $275.00 for two people ordering conservative meals just isn’t right
Excellent food and service. Expensive, but worth it! The table side salad is out of this world and could serve as a meal on it's own. I only gave a lower rating for ambiance because the tables in the dining room are a little too close for comfort. We were rubbing elbows with the adjacent party and had to get up if they wanted to leave the table, so that could definitely be improved....
Excellent service and food. Started with the deviled eggs and pork belly. Delicious. Then Ordered the Happy Hour steak special. It was a spectacular value and cooked perfectly. I had Two Martinis and they were delicious as well. Brian the bartender is a Gem!! We’ll be back!!
Gianni's is a never-miss, consistent restaurant with excellent food and a great staff. Located in downtown Wayzata there's convenient on-street parking. The wine list is wide and varied...you could even say exotic. You won't be disappointed with any of the food menu items and you won't go home hungry as the food portions are hearty. Gianni's tends to skew on the pricey side however; it's money well-spent for your entertainment dollars.
Our hostess tried seating us but forgot where she was supposed to go. She left us in a high traffic area while she went back to ask where she was to go. Our server was friendly but the all around service was slow. Water glasses were empty, dirty plates on the table. Quite unlike Giannis. Food was perfect. Flirts and New York strips done beautifully with blue cheese crust. Will return but hopefully the service picks up.
I LOVE Gianni's BAR Staff. As we arrived it was a 30-45 min wait because of Restaurant week it was super crowded. The Bar Staff whisked us off to a spot next to a friendly couple and we were able to complete a 3 course meal by the time our table was ready. The food was good and the wine list is impressive. Overall I would defiantly go back!
This was my first time at Gianni's but my spouse has been there many times before and said it was great so I decided we'd give it a try. We made a reservation for 7:00 and weren't seated until after 7:30.. this was slightly annoying but we found a seat at the bar and grabbed a drink from the nice bartender while we waited. The restaurant overall was a little noisy, but they were packed and it's a smaller space so it makes sense. Once we were seated our server greeted us, we originally came in for restaurant week but both ended up ordering something else off the menu. Their house salad and lobster bisque were fantastic. I ordered scallops, with a risotto, they were okay. The risotto was very bland. My boyfriend got a filet which he said lacked flavor, and mash pot which tasted like (and pretty positive they were) instant mash potatoes. He also added grilled shrimp which were charred - I was not a fan. Overall the food was okay, service was good (minus the wait).
We love the food at Gianni's. We went for Restaurant week last year and loved it, so we had to go again this year! Last year, we had dinner around 5pm and it was pretty quiet and was a great experience. This year, we had a 6:30 reservation, and it was awful. The place was so busy that we felt like we were sitting on top of the people next to us. It is normally quiet and comfortable, but it was crazy due to Restaurant Week. They have a fantastic wine list, delicious food, and normally great, attentive service. As long as you avoid Restaurant Week or go earlier in the evening, Gianni's is THE BEST!
We went with the idea of having the papaletta potato and a steak, but decided to try the Fall specials -- BAD CHOICE!!
The steak was OK, but the walleye -- well, it wasn't too great -- the old Sunsets in Wayzata had the Gold Standard for pan-fried Walleye -- Birches on the Lake comes pretty close -- Gianni's was pretty lame -- almost tasteless -- a member of a foursome at the table next to us didn't like her walleye either (three had the steak -- lucky them)
For a Monday night, the service was pretty spotty -- our waitress was trying, but I think the kitchen was messing her up -- she said at least three time that our order "was coming right out" -- but there was at least a 20 minute delay between our spinning salad and our meals arriving --
Gianni's has been my favorite for special occasions as was Monday, but I may have to rethink that.
We made reservations not knowing that it was Restaurant week. What a surprise! We got to enjoy the spun caesar salad, a filet and chocolate cake for a wonderful price. The steak was one of the best that we have had in Minneapolis after moving up from Texas. Would definitely return here another time to try some of their other dishes.
