Gianfranco Ristorante Italiano Ratings and Reviews
We waited 30 min for a table with a reservation because it is a small restaurant and the couple would not leave. However the manager came over, gave us free wine and appetizer and apologized for everything. She was very friendly and it was not her fault. After learning it was my birthday she gave us a couple of free desserts. Everything was delicious and would go again. Just need to make sure I get dropped off while the husband parks since it’s first come first serve with reservations.
We were there with friends. It was our first visit, so we didn't really know what to expect. The ambiance was wonderful, as well as their hospitality. On top of that, the wait staff was quick and friendly. The food was served in a timely manner and was delicious. They even did a meat substitution in one of the pasta dishes. Dessert and coffee was wonderful, as well as the wine selection. We will return for sure.
IT WAS, IS, AND REMAINS A TREASURE. The owners are a family and it feels like your their guest in their home somewhere in Southern Italy. The food is excellent, not perfect just like home, delicious and thoughtfully prepared. Everyone bends over to make sure you get a great experience. Prices are moderate and for what is delivered a great value. They greet me with a hug and leave me with a kiss. It doesn't get any better than this. Nick Stellino take a lesson here.
photos: Spaghetti Frutti di Mare. Theirs is tomato based seafood with scallops, shrimp, muscles, clams, halibut and salmon in spicy Italian red sauce. Excellent
Crab Stuffed Ravioli With Shrimp. Delicious basil cream sauce very light with delicate crab and a touch of shrimp to blend. Outstanding and light.
We went to celebrate our anniversary and LOVED our total experience. We were greeted warmly like the last time we had been there was the week before, not two years ago. We were seated at the second-to-the-last table toward the back which made for easy conversation. Our waiter was great. He was able to help us with our decisions since everything sounded so good. Our dinners came in a good amount of time...and my, oh my - they are not shy on portions! My husband had the pork shank with polenta and I had the chicken special with sun-dried tomatoes and capers. They were both blow-our-minds delicious. The cheesy scalloped potatoes on my plate were the very best potatoes I have ever had! (Did I detect a bit of truffle there?) The only ding is that I wish their wine selection was a bit more well-rounded. It’s a little shy, particularly, on US Chardonnay. Just my opinion. We actually thought about extending our stay so we could go back another time, but it didn’t work out. Can’t wait for next time!
This was our first time here and we will be back. The service was warm and welcoming. We split each course. Appetizer: portabello with gorgonzola sauce, primi: cheese tortellini with a creamy tomato based sauce with bacon, zucchini and other good stuff, secondi: stuffed pork rolls with bacon etc. in a white wine sauce. Each of the courses came out freshly prepared and hot - such a rare thing any more. Each was flavorful and generous in portion. For dessert we had the bread pudding - absolutely fabulous. Along with a great bottle of wine this was a very satisfying experience and dinner.
The place is intimate, perhaps a bit overly so since the space is small and has perhaps a table or two more than the square footage calls for. The wait staff is professional yet warm and engaging. The portions are very large. Unfortunately the food simply isn't very good.
RESERVATION BUT NO TABLE:
We had a reservation at 6:00 pm on a Saturday for 4 people. When we arrived at 6:00 we were told our table was being cleared. We waited patiently in the small waiting area. 10 minutes later we were told the party at our table was leaving and our table would be ready shortly, then 5 minutes later we were told the party at our table was not leaving and it was suggested we walk down the street to a wine tasting place and they would call us when our table was ready, which would be soon. 30 minutes later at 6:45 we finally received a call that our table was ready. At this point we decided we had been lied to several times as they didn't have a table "being cleared" or "nearly ready", or "in just a few minutes" and we went to Sips in Issaquah and had a fantastic experience - great service and great food.
We really can't rate the food or value as we didn't get the opportunity to dine .
Lovely meal but we were seated next to a large party with 3 young children and two of them screamed thru out the meal with no parental correction....and I did expect the restaurant to ask the parents to calm their children. I have 5 grandchildren and they would be taken outside before they were allowed to disturb fellow diners.
Food was amazingly good! Service was excellent! They cater to Celiacs/Gluten-Free which is great because it is an Italian restaurant. LeAnn, the owner, takes every effort to make your dining experience the best. She's wonderful and very special. Make reservations ahead. They are always booked!
Took friends from out of town here for dinner and it did not dissappoint! The food was delicious, the service fantastic and the wine amazing. Our waiter/owner explained the menu and catered to every special request with the most wonderful attitude. We went back again the same week!
We traveled from Portland OR to the Salish Lodge to celebrate a memorable 30th Anniversary. Based on their wonderful reviews, we selected Gianfranco for our Anniversary dinner. What an exceptional and exquisite Restaurant! Their menu has many wonderful choices – including our all-time favorite Veal Picatta and so many delectable-sounding pastas that my wife had trouble choosing. Our waiter suggested half-orders of each of their generous portions – a perfect solution! The owner stopped by, asked about our anniversary story, was so personable that we felt like we were eating with family. We traded doggie pictures with our marvelous waiter. Given the diverse menu choices, delectable food, generous portions and friendly atmosphere, our Anniversary dinner at Gianfranco’s turned out to be an all-time “top 5” dining experience. We would drive an hour one way just to eat here at least once a month.
