What Insiders Are Saying
Ghibellina is a neighborhood Italian spot in Logan Circle. You’ll come for the pizzas and pastas, but stay for the cozy vibes and friendly service.
The food is horrible. My daughter and I ordered linguine with clams. It was terrible. Very water and very blend
Great service.. food was excellent..
great location, great food, excellent service, wonderful ambiance
We had such a nice time at Ghibellina!! Our food was delicious and was not heavy at all!! The burrata was perfect! Our waitress was the sweetest as well! After dinner, she took us down to SOTTO which is their downstairs bar. The atmosphere was so cool and they had amazing live music!! Thank you again!!
Pizza was delicious. Wish I would have known you can only get happy hour prices at the bar (no res). I'll do better next time. Great vibe. Excellent service. We loved it.
My husband and I had a lovely time here. Made even more special by our waiter/ server Lorenzo. Ghibellina is lucky to have him on their staff. Friendly, exuberant, thoughtful, helpful and timely!!! I had ordered the tagliatelle but found it was not what I had anticipated as well as cool. Lorenzo promptly suggested an alternative which was perfect. A lamb dish with cherry tomatoes, olives and wide/ broad large rigatoni style noodles. It was delicious and well seasoned. The Margarita pizza was phenomenal. We are always on the search for the perfect thin crust pizza, with the perfect dough and properly cooked to our liking and they hit all three markers. Dough, tomatoe sauce and crispness all right on. And this is from a guy whose mother was from Napoles.
It was fine for brunch. We had an 1100 reservation but had to wait for them to open the doors about 5 after. The food and service was great.
I reserved a high-too table at 8:45. I called at 8:35 to say I was in traffic but would arrive by 8:55. I arrived at 8:54. By that point, the high top tables were taken and I was told there was a wait for normal tables. We sat at the bar instead. While the experience was still a positive one, the idea that I could reserve a spot and then not receive it left a bad taste in my mouth. I’m not sure if I will make future reservations for dinner, or rather relegate this spot to a place I will stop in for a drink and leave.
Very overpriced relative to the quality and quantity of the food. We had pizza is which were very skimpy on the ingredients, and it was slightly undercooked.
Further, beware of the valet parking. Not advertised is a $12 parking fee. This, plus the tip For the valet adds a tax of 15 to 20% on a dinner for two.
Would not return.
I would Recommend for pizza only. Pizza is very good and executed well
Went for a brunch date and were accommodated by the window on a beautiful day. Our waitress was lovely and had wonderful suggestions which she was spot on about. The risotto cakes were amazing and hazelnut gelato was out of this world. Bloody Mary’s and mimosas for $6 were not a bad addition as well. Highly recommend their brunch.
AMAZING! Amazing food, service, everything!! Will definitely be back. Perfect for a couples date night.
Food was amazing. Although, we either read the menu wrong or it didn't include details like prosciutto in brussel sprouts which was a bummer as a vegetarian. We ordered items we thought were safe for me and werent't. Gnocchi was amazing. It was pretty loud and the tables are overcrowded. I don't need someones butt cheeks resting on my table as they are getting to their seat. We still enjoyed it and would go back.
I specifically was asked about allergies and I shared my allergies.
I get an appetizer with bell peppers , unknown and unlisted , which ruins the rest of my day.
I pointed that out to our waitress and NO “accommodations” were offered. Pretty disappointing. Usually my experience at ghibalina is 4.5 to 5 star
Hopping place for a fun weekend dinner. Highly recommend the tiramisu and any pasta dish.
It was a great night to
Great food and excellent service!
Alina was an amazing waitress and the owner was super nice to our boys!
Amazing food - especially loved the pizza!
We were visit Washington for a few days from the UK. Looking for an Italian restaurant I found this restaurant on the internet within walking distance from our hotel. I booked it online which was helpful & got directions. The ambiance was very pleasant, the service good considering it was a Sunday evening. We had a delicious meal & enjoyed our visit.
The portions were small and the prices were high. Could be a good place for pizza and drinks.
Delicious food and great service!
Off the chart in every aspect. I’m o,verlooking that after I had a Manhattan and a bottle of wine, the manager hustled me into buying a second bottle of a French wine which was rather poor. Should’ve read the label.
The food was good, nicely presented. The server also made good wine recommendations.
The food was delicious and arrived in a timely manner. My risotto was rich and creamy as it should have been.My soup was very flavorful. It had the perfect consistently-not too thin or thick. My companions were very satisfied with their choices as well.Overall,a pleasant meal.
All around excellent dining experience. The table was ready immidately when we arrived to our reservation. Our server had detailed and descriptive recommendations when we asked for suggestions. She was friendly, welcoming, and contributed to my overall satisfscting Service was prompt and, of course, the food was incredible. Portion size was perfect, price was reasonable for the location and dining experience. Would recommend and will be returning.
The food, generally speaking, is very good. I had a delicious pasta dish that was properly cooked and shared a crunchy risotto cake that was enjoyable. My dining companion enjoyed his pasta as well. The only low point was the undercooked Brussels sprouts. Where I have to mark the restaurant down is the noise level. The poor server, who was very good, was shouting at us to be heard and I still couldn't hear half of what she said about the specials. The tables are very close together so I could hear my neighbors' conversations.
Few choices at the menu.
I ordered pasta and roasted lamb (Pacheri con ragu di agnello), it was very spicy. My wife ordered fish of the day (branzino), it came out with no taste at all.
Appetizers were very good (burrada and riso al salto) and dessert was wonderful- cheesecake with Nutella).
Service was nice but the check arrived before we order the dessert.
The bar at Ghibellina alone is worth a stop if you're in the neighborhood. As cuisine in DC goes you could also certainly do worse. I'm happy every time I make a stop here.
Cordially greeted at the door, the Ghibellina staff welcomes you to a warm inviting dining experience that is comfortable and inventive with interesting interpretations of rustic Tuscan food. It is hard to go wrong ordering from the standard menu, but it is worthwhile to order from the waiter’s list of specials that usually has something eclectic and delicious. I am looking forward to my next dinner there.
Dinner was very nice and service was decent. Excellent menu and nice happy hour options.
We made reservations for 5:30 dinner, but arrived way early and decided to enjoy Happy Hour at the Bar! The drinks & pizzas were fabulous! When we had dinner & ordered the lamb ragout pasta dish, it seems the recipe had changed and it was heavy tomatoey....quite disappointing (we sent the two entrees back & decided to not reorder), but everything else was awesome.
Delightful to sit & chat & eat & drink well for 3+ hours brunch.
Never felt rushed, always attentive staff, very yummy & creative food offerings.
Some excellent wines by the glass... dummy me, I should've ordered a bottle cuz I drank it anyways.
We live nearby so happy to recommend to all & visit again.

OUTSTANDING! Everything. Service perfect. Atmosphere is alive but not too loud that you have to scream. Every single thing we ordered was delicious. This bruschetta with vegetables like zucchini eggplant and cheese on top, vegan soup (yum!), Brussels sprouts (they even left out the pork upon request). And the pizza was thin crusted. No oily but crusty and sauce and cheese tasty. It was our second time going. We will definitely be back!!!
Delicious food and great service.
Very disappointing. Service was rushed food came too quickly and they brought the check before we even asked. Table of noisey girls right beside us even though we were a couple and lots of other tables ! but main disappointment was the food. There was grit in my bruschetta starter which had arrived straight away it also wasn’t very warm or that nice. Pasta and pizza was ok but everything hugely overpriced. Would not return or recommend. I’m sure there are many many nicer Italian places to eat.
Wines are just too expensive. Great waitress. Pizza was a little bland, but salad was great.
The tables are to close the noise is too loud the service was too intense with interrupting our conversation to take plates away which felt very rude. The server while she’s tried to do a good job was not particularly helpful. It was my first visit and I cannot say that I would return again because of the disappointing experience.
It was my first time visiting Ghibelline's and I cannot wait to return. The service and the food was excellent. It was a Sunday evening and the restaurant was not crowded, but I must imagine that reservations are a must on high value days. Make the the arrangements, it is worth it.
