What Insiders Are Saying
Ghibellina is a neighborhood Italian spot in Logan Circle. You’ll come for the pizzas and pastas, but stay for the cozy vibes and friendly service.
Always good! One of our neighborhood go-to spots. Food is consistently tasty, service is good, ambience always has a good vibe. Brunch this go around and pizzas as always were delicious.
Brunch options all looked so good it was hard to choose. But what I did end up with what excellent.
I thought the portions were small and the tables are very close together.
Great food and service!
Ambiance, food, and service was all great. Server recommended the house red wine which was a really nice option for light easy drinking with a heavier meal. I am vegetarian and gluten free and there were enough options to choose from. Had the buratta and the portobello mushroom main dish which was delicious. Overall great experience! Would definitely go back.
Brought all 4 dishes at once and it was a race to eat them before they got cold. Waiter literally watched us finish each dish so he could grab the plates as we put the last bite in our mouth. In and out in 45 min. Ridiculous
Delicious food and great wine selection

Food - great
Wait staff - great
Management/Scheduling - terrible.
Made 545 New Year’s Eve reservation. Called to confirm. Spoke to Manager. Told we are all set. As we walked in the door - got told “we need the table back at 7!” Offered to start out at a different table - not once, not twice but three times to make sure we were not rushed. Were not moved. Dinner was not brought to table until 650. Manger walked by at 720 - telling us next party was here. Terrible management! GM was sympathetic but did nothing to help. Ended up taking our desserts to go so as not to ruin the next party’s evening. TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT/SCHEDULING!!!!
Ordered a Magherita pizza, spaghetti with vongole, and a fish special.. the pie is what we in NJ call a bar pie. Seventeen dollars is crazy for this little pie. The pie itself was delicious. A little wet in the middle but the outer crust was perfect. The clams were plentiful And the spaghetti was al dente but the kitchen ruined the dish by overwhelming it with peperoncini. Cost, $25.00. Under $ 20 anywhere in NJ. The fish special was fine. Best part of the meal was the wait staff.
Could not ask for better. The ladies went out of their way to make the night enjoyable.
Very rushed service. They sent out the main course so quickly and forgot our appetizer completely. Wait staff and host were very abrupt. Food was very disappointing for the price. The atmosphere of the place is nice, but I felt bad because I was the one who chose this place for our group and we were all disappointed.
The food was impeccable. The pizza was authentic and absolutely delicious.
Best Tiramisu I have ever had. The staff was amazing and very attentive.
Consigliato
Very nice pasta dish, fresh salad, rushed service and not a great value. Best time to dine during the Happy Hour get a pizza and a glass of wine for a reasonable price.
Great food, value and ambiance. And, I really appreciated and valued being able to have a conversation with the other 3 people at the table!
My only real complaint is that I had stated it was for a birthday celebration when I made my reservation and there was no acknowledgment of that at all. I asked to be in the main dining room area and not at the bar and we were still seated at a tall table with barstools across from the bar instead of in the main dining area. Not sure if that was because I had 2 teenagers who were celebrating their birthdays but there was no mention of it at all. food was pretty good, Nothing spectacular.
Great food. Everything was great. A little overpriced but pretty par for the course in that area.
Perfect place to catch up with a friend! Our server was polite and helpful with the menu and didn’t bother us much once we told her we haven’t seen each other in a few months
We ate here two months ago and the experience was EXQUISITE. Maybe it was an off night, but the food was simply average. I got the same pasta as last time - pasta with clams- and the sauce was watery salt. I sent it back because it got cold waiting 15 minutes for Parmesan. The second round wasn’t much better. The Brussels sprout- excellent last time - were soggy and average. The waitress was lovely and brought champagne for our anniversary. It was a nice evening with sub-par food. Lights were too bright, too. Disappointing. Not sure we would go back for the food. A lot of money for average experience.
The food was delicious, try the barrata! They have a finely curated cocktail menu and the wine list was tasty too. I met a friend after work for drinks and dinner here with no regrets. We ate at the bar, but you may want to make a reservation, even on a Wednesday night.
Management was so incredibly rude. They actually asked a table to leave because they wanted to fill it with a new reservation. So incredibly rude and unprofessional.
The food was good, as always. The service was just okay.
Wr had a gteay time food and service were outstanding .
I was pleased to be able to hear my dinner companions despite the open bar and open kitchen. However I found the food disappointing and overpriced.
Fun place. Good food and wine selection. Neighborhood gem
I always take out of town guests here for a fun evening. The staff is very polite and pleasant.
Love it, will go back!
I would say the food was very good, our son loved the mint chip gelatto and we loved the puree carrot soup. We were surprised you could not find a bottle of wine for under $50 on the wine list. The alcohol just seems extremely overpriced and a few of the meals seemed over priced for what you got. Overall it was good but I would want to move on to another restaurant in DC.
If you don't like tightly packed restuarants, this is not the place to you. Many two-tops mean you're in the middle of tinder-date-ville, but its a cozy place with a fun menu and delightful drinks.
Service was outstanding, unfortunately food was not quite as good as expected.
What we enjoyed most about our dining experience was the ability to have a conversation across the table without shouting. It is so rare today to find a restaurant that offers this . I did notice that Ghibellina had added sound dampeners in the ceiling and they played music as a background sound rather than filling the room with it so you need to talk above it. I do not know why more restaurants do not do this. The food was delicious and the service was very professional and prompt. All in all, a wonderful dining experience.
I am never disappointed when dining at Ghibellina. It is apparent that the chef and staff love food as much as their clients. The wine pairing is always on point. Just let the staff know what you enjoy from a Red, White or Sparkle: sit back and enjoy. I would highly recommend their Bistecca All Fiorentina and save the fat, and bone for soup stock! Best choice ever! The potatoes are delightful, and pair it with the gnocchi to finish it right and proper Italian way.
Have been to Ghibellina before for a private event and had excellent food, but our last visit was incredibly disappointing. Fried misto was unsalted and not very tasty, while all three pizzas were straight dough in the center (and one was burned on the bottom). Not sure what went wrong, but not what I expect for the high price we paid. Will skip next time in one of the other numerous very good Italian places in town.
Tables are too close together.
Enjoyable evening meal. Delicious appetizers and great pizza. The dessert was scrumptious. Would definitely go back.
I had the tagliatelle with an excellent meat sauce. My companion had the house salad and risotto cakes, also quite enjoyable. The service was friendly if a bit unpolished. I'll be dining there again.
Food was great, excellent service! Though is an Italian restaurant, there should always be the option of getting bread for the table.
Though service at the bar is a little slow.
Good experience, good food. The only downside was the table we sat at was in a high foot traffic area so the noise level was a bit higher than normal.
Truly amazing food! And the service couldn’t have been more helpful. Listen to what your servers recommend! The know what they’re talking about!!
Server was top notch excellent!!!
