Really good brunch experience. Outdoor seating is complete covered so no overhead sun to worry about. Food was good. Breakfast Fried Rice was really tasty.
The food was excellent, service very considerate, and I and my companion were able to conduct a detailed technical conversation in surroundings that were inspiring. Thank you so much for this excellent experience
Everything was excellent food and atmosphere were great. A little disappointed in the service, did not get water refills until we were almost done with our meal, ordered donut holes as an appetizer, but didn’t get them until after our main dishes were served, plus instead of the large order they gave us a small one. Rarely saw our waitress. We will be going back just hoping our wait staff will be better.
The vegetable frittata was a bit blah, but everything else was perfect.
I brought my out of town friends here for the second time. The first time we came for dinner and saw the lights in the garden at night. This time we came for late lunch and it did not disappoint. Our waiter was great!
Great place to escape the heat and get some farm to table fresh food!
Fabulous as always with the exception of the flys. A little pest control would be appreciated
Beautiful atmosphere and delicious food. We were a large group and had a wonderful time. However, the hostess was rather unaccommodating. There was an easy solution to a rather benign problem and unfortunately the hostess felt no need to help and gave no indication of trying to. Had an enjoyable time regardless.
Gertrude's has a great menu with a variety for every taste. It's a fabulous patio for dining and the service is superb! Presentation is top notch as well & the food yummy!
The temperature in Phoenix was high, but the staff made sure it was comfortable for the diners. Food and service was excellent. Nice experience.
Excellent vegan and vegetarian options. We liked it so much we went twice during our trip to Phoenix. Lovely location in the cactus garden, and delicious options for everyone. My husband loved the burgers, while I really enjoyed the tofu and the salads.
Quite noisy even on the patio. No seafood entree on menu? Red beans and rice with shrimp and sausage was excellent.
We had a great dinner at Gertrudes. For starters, this is one of the few places we have been recently that has their patio tables adequately spaced out. I am super thankful for that. The only thing that detracted from the ambiance was the lighting. The patio has these bizarre orange lights.
Service was attentive but not intrusive and the food was excellent. We had the Elote Fritters to start and I had the bacon cheeseburger. Deserts were to die for. We will definitely be back.
The food was wonderful! I didn't take too well to the mask mandate and the overall attitude and enforcement, especially being such an open, outdoor facility and the fact that masks are not proven in that environment to be of any benefit.
Thanks always great fun
I had brunch at Gertrude's a couple of months ago and loved it! I thought dinner would be just as great so we chose to go there before a concert at the zoo.
The friends we dined with loved their braised beef and duck enchiladas and my husband had a delicious risotto with shrimp. However, I ordered the salmon salad and was really disappointed. I thought the salmon would be grilled but it was poached I believe so it was flavorless. The dressing was also without flavor so it didn't save the salad. I am usually the one that eats everything on my plate, but not this time.
I will definitely go back for brunch but not for dinner.
Patio dining at Gertrude’s is the best! The wait staff is attentive and friendly, plus you are seated amidst the cacti and succulents of The Garden. We saw quail and cactus wrens. There is an extensive wine list, plus wonderful specials. We tried the mahi mahi, and it was superb. Be sure to try their frozen sangria. So refreshing after wandering in The a garden on a warm day. This is the perfect spot to meet friends and enjoy a leisurely dinner, as the staff does not hurry you...we could linger. We will be back!
friendly people, great service, great food and a very relaxed atmosphere. I look forward to my next visit.
Lovely place for a celebration! Food & drinks were good. Service the best!
We had excellent service and were seated at a nicely shaded location on the patio.
Always love eating at Gertrude's. My husband had the bacon cheeseburger and said it was excellent. My friend and I had the salmon salad and a side of brussel sprouts. The sprouts were delicious but the salmon salad was a tad disappointing. I think they used canned salmon that was cold. It was rather boring. We were expecting a grilled salmon filet. Our son had the chicken wrap which he said was very good. We had the pink lemonade, too, and it was wonderful. The waiter brought us extra. Even though our salmon salad was disappointing, we will still go back in future because it is such a treat to eat there in the beautiful garden atmosphere.
Just love the beauty and atmosphere of this restaurant! Service and food are always spot on!
Love this restaurant. Patio dining is amazing. Food is creative and thoughtful.
Delicious inventive food and a wonderful light hearted server! He was great!
Our waiter was very good - and the pace of service was such a nice departure from the rushed environments of chain restaurants - The salad was so fresh and presented beautifully - what a nice overall experience to encourage lingering and conversation. Just a throw back to when going to a restaurant was a lovely experience - Last time I had been there, there was no cover over the patio and they have filled in the center pond outside which allows for nice spacing in the open air. Really a great solution in these crazy times we live in. Thanks for a lovely day.
Had to reschedule and add more people. Gertrudes made the changes quickly. Thank You
On the last rainy day in April my best friend and I hiked the beautiful blooming trails of the Desert Botanical Garden. The weather was perfect and as usual the garden was magnificent. We dined at Gertrudes for lunch afterward. The staff at Gertrudes consistently offer excellent service. We were thrilled to choose between four specials . We chose the gazpacho soup which had gorgeous color and delicious flavor and the chicken salad with cranberries and raisins on a brioche bun. The presentation was artful. Our waiters attention to detail and pacing was superb. This is why we return to Gertrudes often., it’s a magical desert oasis in the middle of a busy metropolis.
The staff was great. Very friendly and professional. But the food was average and overpriced. The hamburger looked like a meatball. It was too hard to eat. The lamb stew was good. Nice chunks of lamb but not hot enough. Temperature wise. The rice tasted old. Dry and not good. So I ate the pita and stew. I had the lamb stew, an ice tea and a cactus beverage. 40 bucks for one meal. With a 10 dollar tip, 50 bucks. Too much. That was just for me. My sister had the hamburger.
It was the perfect compliment to a friends’ get-together at the garden. Sitting outside enjoying delicious watermelon, jicama and shrimp salad was so enjoyable and relaxing.
A great venue to grab Sunday brunch with the family. The donuts were a nice addition to our meal.
Went for brunch and it was excellent. We had the breakfast fried rice, the French toast, and the American breakfast with iced Toddy’s. The wait staff was friendly and hospitable! Will be returning.
Richard yesterday and David two weeks ago were perfect staff as was Michelle
Good food, good service, lovely setting. Nice to have an upscale eatery in the wonderful botanical garden.
Bert was a great server and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal.
Very pleasant waitress, very good service, food was good, nice atmosphere
Great lunch and loverly place
Soups are always so delicious. Generous portions. Friendly waitstaff. Perfect outdoor setting at the Botanical Gardens.
Love the outdoor patio here which provides heavy shade and sun protection. Our server was ok - not much enthusiasm but she got the job done. I had the bacon cheeseburger and it was good. Their main dishes for lunch are high end prices for what I’d say is good to very good food. I enjoyed the hard cider on tap. The cocktails look pretty and good as they were going by to other tables. It’s fun to look forward to eating here as you stroll the gardens. Overall, solid and enjoyable meal but be prepared for expensive.
Beautiful , relaxing place to eat lunch then tour the Botanical Garden!
Nice attention for our anniversary. Let us use our Garden tickets and then return later for our "free" dessert. Delicious and good service.
I used to really like this place
