The hostess was very rude to us. We were seated at the entrance to the kitchen, and the edge of the building to outside with a fan blowing on us. When we asked the hostess for assistance with the fan she told us nothing could be done. Another employee pulled my husband to the side and solved the issue. We asked for a different table and were told we could wait 11/2 hour more for outside or 45 minutes for inside. There were open tables for our entire dinner. For as much as dinner cost this was a big negative. Very disappointing.

The location is great when doing the electric desert show, and dining outdoors is lovely in the spring. However the food was a total disappointment. Way overpriced for the bland, amateurish dishes served. They sounded good on paper but disappointed greatly in reality. Specifically, the shrimp risotto had no flavor and the shrimp looked like they came right out of a bag and were thrown in a skilled for 2 minutes to warm them up. The risotto was flavorless even though it was supposed to have chili oil - it was orange with not flavor or bite. The wild boar risotto was flavorful, but the rice and beans that came with it were again flavorless. No spices, no salt or pepper, just bland as can be.

Ordered the $7.00 bread and butter option and it did not arrive until well after our entrees. Too late to enjoy it and they never offered to take it off the bill. Disappointed

I just love this farm to table restaurant located at the Botanical Garden! Food is inventive and everyone can find something to enjoy off the menu! I love that they have local brews on tap. Perfect spot to meet for a meal!!

You cannot beat the ambience of the patio at Gertrudes with the beautiful garden and glass sculptures for a backdrop. The food and service was not the greatest

Our waitress was very friendly, helpful and accommodating, a big factor in making our lunch outing relaxing and memorable. The Gertrude burger is delicious and was ample for us to split. We look forward to future visits.

Party of 5 dined on the patio. Jeanie was our server. She was friendly, offered cocktail suggestions & inquired about our needs several times during our visit. Food ordered was rice bowl dishes, club sandwich, salmon salad & chicken sandwich. The couple who ordered the rice bowl dishes said the dish lacked something that was there last time they ordered it, still good though. The salmon was good (nice size portion for lunch) and the sandwiches were hardy and tasty. Would visit again.

I visited during March and the restaurant was busy with visitors for the light show at the gardens. We were seated promptly and offered water and drinks. The atmosphere was really nice. The servings were large - my friends salad could have fed the table - however not very tasty. I ordered the Korean Chicken and it was three large breaded thighs drowning in the sauce. I was unable to eat much of it and expected the waiter to inqure about the meal. However, he simply cleared the table without a word. We paid the bill. I wouldn't go there again.

Food was ok, waiter or kitchen prepared wrong meal, allergic to shrimp ordered a steak received shrimp. Manager made it right by offering a dessert that we were charge for , didn’t want, wasn’t good . The price of the steak was deducted from my bill but I was charged for the dessert. Weird

Food was good, but service bad. Waiter never returned to table after food was served to ask if everything was ok. I had to call over another server to ask for more salad dressing. When we asked for hot tea, he never asked if we wanted milk or lemon..Don't remember his name but receipt showed nbr 3013.

Be sure and make reservations. Luckily we did. (The weather was a bit windy or you could have found plenty seats outside.) The menu is seasonal, which I like, as it takes advantage of local products. My chicken wrap was tasty and my husband loved his burger...prepared perfectly.

The experience was wonderful. The person taking reservations was accommodating, especially as I changed the time of dinner three times the same day. The rain had stopped, the garden gorgeous, and it was difficult to leave the garden for dinner. My guest was from Asia and had never been in Arizona before so there was so much too see.

Lovely ambience, great location as we were visiting the garden. Servers and hostesses were great. Cocktails good. Food was not as described. Tempura chicken had thick gory coating-not tempura! All meals were too spicy despite asking the server. We expected better food given the location and overall appearance and location of the facility.

Gertrude’s was perfect for our anniversary dinner. We sat on the patio with the heat lamps on. My husband and I shared a cheese and meat board, seasonal greens from the garden salad and the Korean chicken thighs. Everything was delicious! Our waitress Sonja was so sweet and knowledgeable about the menu! She accommodated an allergy I have and even got us an off menu/allergy-free dessert that we could celebrate with.

I would recommend to a friend because of convenience of the restaurant, as far as the food...it was ok. I enjoyed mine, the shrimp in the shrimp risotto was a bit overcooked, but overall good flavor. My husband had the wild boar and it was ok, nothing special. Our Waiter was great and recommended a good Cabernet. Overall a good experience, but not memorable.

For a wonderful experience book an early dinner table outdoors at Gertrude's, then see Electric Desert at the Botanical Garden. We booked an outside table and were pleased that they brought heat lamps over as the chill set in. The noise level outside is subdued, unlike the noisy restaurant indoors. The food was delicious, and our vegan and gluten free friends were THRILLED to find many dishes to choose from. Staff were conscientious and very helpful. We were very impressed.
