The authentic Santa Fe cuisine on which Geronimo focuses is rooted in the traditional foods of the Apache and Navajo peoples, with some Spanish and Anglo-Saxon influences.

The bar, one of the largest and certainly the most unique in New Haven, offers over 500 types of tequila in addition to an extensive wine list and myriad top-shelf liquors. In winter, the expansive dining room, framed in slate and walnut complete with a leather wall, is warmed by an adobe fireplace (traditionally called a kiva). In the warmer months, the glass paneled wall, which offers a year-round view of Crown Street, opens up onto the largest patio bar and dining area in the region.

We are primarily reservation only, and we plan on 90 minutes per reservation. If you need more time, let us know when you book your table and we will be happy to accommodate!

After 9 PM, all guests must be 21 years of age or older unless accompanied by a legal guardian or placing/picking up a takeout order.

We go to Geronimo‘s often. It’s one of our favorite places to go for great atmosphere, drinks and food in New Haven. We are creatures of habit, and we always order the homemade salsa this time. We tried the pineapple instead of mango, which was delicious and the homemade guacamole. Which never disappoints. My son and I ordered a picture of Geronimo margaritas, pineapple, flavored, and my husband enjoyed some Moscow mules for dinner. My husband ordered the shrimp tacos and the mahi-mahi tacos. He said both were very good though he did feel that the mahi mahi was over cooked , which potentially happens when food is fried. I had a pork burrito bowl and my son had pork enchiladas. We both enjoyed our meals. Geronimo’s never disappoints. We will continue to come back for more. Our server was extremely nice and attentive but we come to expect from the restaurant overall.

We were early for our reservation and given a table immediately. Food and service were excellent. The waiter was very attentive. One draw back we were seated on the patio which is ok and does have heat and weather’s barrier’s but our table was near one of those openings and they couldn’t close the barrier properly. There was a cold draft blowing the whole time we were there so had to wear our jackets. When I asked the waiter about it he spoke to someone who said it was broken and they were waiting on service. Would have been nice if they offered to reseat us.

We had reservations and were on time however the Maitre D tried to seat us at a high top table even though I had requested standard. Ultimately we were seated in a standard but was told we needed to vacate by 7pm. Tough start but then it went down from there. Then the server, Meg, took our drink orders but didn’t submit them. Then she forgot to include my husband’s meal. She was a very pleasant person but this experience was not up to Open Table standards for a 4+ restaurant. The guacamole was very good but everything else was just satisfactory. We didn’t even bother to bring home the leftovers. She compted us a free dessert which we really didn’t want or eat.

When we were brought to the table we were told we needed to vacate the table before 90 minutes- felt very unappreciated as patrons. Good food and great service a bit overshadowed by noise level. Meal was on the expensive side for only one course, one drink and chips. Unless going for more of a celebratory night or party lunch is the better choice.

We celebrated our sons 21st birthday at Geronimos. It was delicious! I ordered the a kite chicken quesadilla, Mac n cheese, and chicken burrito. The flavors were amazing. But the desert churros with chocolate sauce and ice cream (ugh still thinking about it!!) amazing and the chocolate mouse was heavenly. Our server was fantastic! I loved her energy, her recommendations. All on point!

I recommended this place for my best friends 39th birthday. We had a party of eight. I wish we never come here. I’ll think twice about coming here ever again. The food this night was terrible. It was so bad that I sent my entire plate back and just had the lemonade that I had to ask for cane sugar because the waiter didn’t think to put it in there. The guacamole was horrendous. No lime, no salt. No flavor. Very disappointed

We knew we had 90 minutes to eat before the next group arrived. It was disappointing to be reminded of that prior to our leaving. We had asked for the bill/ it was clear we were ready to go. Other than that, it was all wonderful.

The patio was cold. I never took off my jacket and my knit cap. Also, there was a family with extremely loud young kids. The kids were screaming and horseplaying the entire time. It was very annoying. Other than that it was great.

Visited the restaurant last night for the first time. The server was very helpful providing menu suggestions. The table side guacamole was excellent and the tap beer was very cold. Tried the Santa Fe style chicken tacos and really enjoyed them. My wife had the chicken tika and liked it very much. Had such a good time that we’re going back tonight to try new dishes. But for sure will have the tap beer and guacamole to start off with.

We ordered the shared main dish and I would not recommend. It is basically a taco stew and it is impossible to tackle gracefully. We were digging through and trying not to make a mess and missing ingredients. For instance, if you want beans on your tiny tortilla (smaller than the palm of your hand, and the corn tortillas were soggy), you cannot access them until you eat three layers first. Also everything in the pot tasted the same. The chips and salsa were good, I would try the place again but not a soggy taco stew. Server was very nice. Place is cool.

Right from the start, my yummy spicy margarita (not too hot, but a nice tingle) was a hit and I knew another great meal was to be had at Geronimo's. The last time we shared a Molcajete for Two, it was very flavorful and filled with a good amount of the meats & shrimp. This time the 2 entrees were a deconstructed pork burrito (bowl) and a mac and cheese. The pork burrito was super tasty and substantial in size. The chimayo chile sauce and mexican crema were the absolute perfect sauces for the pork! My husband's mac & cheese was great, as well. He often prefers little to no spice, so he ordered the hatch chiles on the side. Fortunately, they were very mild, only slightly smoky, and he added them to the mac dish. The cream of the mac dish was perfect, not to thin & not too thick. We will definitely return to explore more dishes!

Food was great, as always, guacamole especially so. Waitstaff seemed harried and didn't seem comfortable with electronic ordering system.
