Love this place- it’s great with free parking, ability to reserve online. Only things to make it perfection- it’s a wee bit expensive (I guess tourists drive prices up) and wow- it gets LOUD. A friend sitting across the table couldn’t hear what we were saying on the other side of the table. Looks like they’ve tried to put some sound absorbing things on the wall- but there’s so many hard surfaces, guess it’s not enough. I’ll still keep it has a convenient place- but wouldn’t try it with a large group due to that.

Everything is usually great here. Biggest downside is distance from other parts of the city but in general going to Germantown is typically great. And keeps getting better. Never had a problem with parking. Food is consistently excellent. Portions usually large enough to have leftovers, which we did. Sound level is above average. We actually spoke about how we could hear each other. Very accommodating chef. Only wish it was closer. Our server that night was cheery. I wish staff were a bit more available.

Great location. The restaurant is minimal, no grass wall so you know there are no gimmicks just good food and great service. Topless drink options are always the best. The best part is the music, it’s so nostalgic and a great vibe.

Overall, I would visit here again for brunch. I made a reservation for one and ended not being seated until about 10 minutes after my reservation. There were two women who walked ahead of me and me thinking, well I have a reservation it’s fine, they were still seated and addressed before me without a reservation. That was a bit weird in my opinion since I was alone and had a reservation. I ended up sitting across from them and next to me were even more open seats so I had no idea why I had to wait so long compared to those walking in and getting seated within 2-3 mins and the host telling me my wait would be 5 (WITH A RESERVATION). I can truly say this was the worst part of the experience but glad I didn’t make it ruin my time there. I guess now I know you don’t really need a reservation. Also, super loud place for if you’re coming here for peace or a special date you’d like to converse with, probably don’t choose here. Once seated, my waiter was kind but busy. My drink came out right away and he didn’t suggest anything to me, which isn’t a big deal but it was my first time there so would’ve been nice. Once my food came out, my eggs were medium for my eggs benedict and I got grits instead of potatoes. The waiter was super nice and apologized, got me new poached eggs and extra hollandaise sauce. Also left the other eggs with me too which was great because it kind of worked for the proportion of crab cakes (they were huge and tasty but a little too much lemon for my liking!) I also informed him that while I didn’t get the potatoes, the grits were so good! The waiter kept my mimosa filled and checked up on me pretty frequently to make sure I was okay. He even offered another top off while I waited on my Lyft. Super nice guy and wish I could remember his name. He really saved my experience here and I hope that when I return I get to have him again. Thank you for taking good care of me, Mr.Waiter!

Before being retired, we often dinned here and loved it. Living 60 minutes away, we still have returned a few times. To both of us, it has become too noisy (loud radio = people talk louder). Good basic food, now drowning if strange sauces, why, the previous food was delicious? Simple things like having a cup of delicious French onion soup, instead of a large bowl, or if you want larger, have the bowl as an option? It's infrequent that we fight traffic into Nashville, but when we do, Germantown Cafe is off our list.

Germantown Cafe was a fantastic experience. They had just changed their menu so we didn’t get a taste of the old one but the new one was great. The chicken rice soup was one of the best we’ve ever had. The veal meatballs were phenomenal. The spicy rigatoni was outstanding. To top it all off we had a painkiller, the key lime pie (rivals Key West) and the dark chocolate mousse tart. Loved it all. They had a little issue with the credit card machine but we came prepared and just paid cash. All good!!!
