Germano's Piattini Ratings and Reviews
Doesn't get much better than this. Seated promptly. Met by a friendly and gracious owner.
Superb food and wine. do yourself a favor and check it out. Entrees and appetizers had us rolling our eyes and insisting others tasted. Best gnoggies, ravioli, lamb.......Brussel sprouts, brucchetta ..........the chianti perfected the experience. Pardon my lousy spelling.......but the meal and experience were great. Our friends and us are returning soon. Way good. Mangia, mangia. Four stars plus
Get to Germano's generally for lunch whenever the opportunity presents itself. Immediately greeted by Germano and seated. Group of three--one local and two guests from Ireland. Excellent lunch menu with tons of entrees. Had the salmon as usual and never disappointed. My guests really enjoyed their selections as well.
Food was good, not great. Service was excellent.
We were looking for a place in Little Italy to accommodate a large party
and a variety of eaters. This place seemed like an interesting modern take
on Italian and had a large upstairs area for our party of 14. The servers
taking care were terrific. The food was okay, nothing really a standout
but not terrible.
We have dined at several different restaurants in Baltimore's "Little Italy". Germano's was the best experience by far. Food was excellent with both typical Italian dishes as well as new "takes" on traditional items. Always judging Italian restaurants on their Marinara Sauce - Germano's recipe gets a 10!
We love Germano's. We took our family to dine & enjoy the annual Madonnari Arts Festival (fabulous artists create chalk paintings on High Street), which Cyd & Germano created. It's a lovely way to reintroduce people to Baltimore's Little Italy. Germano's bar (which we really enjoy) was friendly (as usual), vibrant and the food was fantastic. Germano's is our 'go to place' in Little Italy. And the cabaret--with talented, creative talent--is a wonderful way to spend the evening.
What a find! Germano's is a real treat, much better than most of Little Italy. OK, the interior looks a lot like most Little Italy restaurants. The food however is much better. The Caesar Salad has just the right blend of garlic, anchovy and other flavors. The beet ravioli with mushrooms meld effortlessly. Nothing can beat the attentive service when the manager or owner is checking up.
Always enjoy my visits here. Recent lunch with two friends. Greeted by Germano and enjoyed catching up with him. Service by our professional and friendly Goucher student and budding opera singer was top notch. Interestingly we all had very tasty grilled salmon off the luncheon menu plus mix of salad and soup for starters. Three course lunch was fairly priced. Never disappointed when dining at Germano's.
I love that their menu has clear indications of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free choices, along with many choices of each. For two people dining with dietary restrictions, it made it easy to make a selection, and not have to spend time asking tedious questions. The food was also delicious!
From the moment hubby and I walked in to Germano's , we felt very welcomed. Our server was AWESOME!! I feel so bad that I can't remember his name. He was so knowledgeable about the menu --offering great suggestions, and such a nice, pleasant young man. We chose this restaurant for Restaurant Week, so I ordered off of the lunch menu. Hubby ordered the Lasagna Classico and a Caesar salad. The lasagna was the best we ever had! It simple melted in your mouth. I had the Polenta Bolognaise, and the grilled salmon with a fennel salad. Both dishes were to die for! We had apple mimosas and sangrias to round out the meal. We did not order dessert, as we were stuffed from the main meal. Hubby and I will definitely be returning to Germano's for dinner in the very near future. Can't wait to tell all of my friends about this wonderful restaurant!!
I went with two friends prior to a concert at Pier 6. The service was excellent and quick. The spaghetti with eggplant was fabulous (the best since Sicily) and my friends both enjoyed their eggplant parmesan. The cappuccino was outstanding - they use Lavazza coffee. Looking forward to going back for that coffee.
I love this place. Casual vibe and delicious food. I usually sit with a friend or two in the small dining room downstairs. You can actually have a conversation there. The menu is varied. I've had delicious pasta entres, or sometimes a salad (the beet salad is the best!) and a couple of small plates. The wine list is pretty good too; nothing intimidating. Service is friendly and efficient. Valet parking makes for a completely stress free evening. I just ate there 10 days ago, and now I can't wait to go back.
I would go out of my way to visit this place again. Definitely give this restaurant a visit. I was greeted by name as soon as I walked in the door, and shown to a comfortable window seat. The wait staff (my waiter was Eric) know their job. He was attentive without being cloying, and very considerate. I appreciated that he was very knowledgeable of the menu, made a couple of good suggestions. I ended up ordering a special, the Hake which I was told was a new item. I hope they keep it on the menu. It was delicious, and I don't please easily when it comes to food. The chef handled this dish beautifully; a delicate and well balanced blend of seasoning that allowed each ingredient its place. Thank you for not overpowering it with onion or garlic, allowing the fish to be tasted.
I picked this restaurant for my husband and I to try out because of the vegetarian/vegan options. Needless to say the food was just ok and the portions were small. We expected more for the high price. It was just disapointing. On the plus side the staff was friendly.
Waited over an hour for food, which came out cold and wasn't worth the wait by far. Asked to speak to the manager, actually spoke to the owner and the only consellation given was a free drink at the bar. We were basically told that it happens and whatever. Unbelievable.
Nearly everyone in the dining room experienced extreme delays in food ranging from 40 minutes to over an hour. When our food came out, it was made wrong and luke warm. Our truffled fries had no truffle oil on it. When this was brought to their attention, they initially told us that's just how it's made... it's not hard to tell if truffle oil has been drizzled on fries. It's quite an eyebrow raiser that they tried to argue that the oil was on and when I opted to return the dish, apologized and admitted that there wasn't. I understand that bad nights happen and it was obvious they were having a really bad night. Perhaps insuffiencient staffing and I would still give them another chance if I would have seen management approach each table to apologize and deescalate the situation throughout the dining room. Instead, they were seen arguing with the customers that actually did raise a fuss about the poor experiences. We opted to pay and never return. Good luck with your business
We had a delicious dinner at Germano's a couple days ago. We stumbled across it doing a restaurant search and the menu sounded too good to pass up! Since we didn't decide to check out Germano's until about 7:00pm on a Saturday, I made a reservation for 4 people via OpenTable for 8:30pm that evening, hoping that it would mean we wouldn't have to wait. When we arrived (about 8:25pm), we mentioned we had a reservation for 4, but weren't asked for our name. We waited for about 20 minutes (during which a very kind server offered to get us drinks while we waited), in the bar area. It was a little awkward as we were waiting for a large group to vacate their table so we could sit, and it felt almost as if we were rushing them out. I assume there were no other open tables for 4 in the other rooms of the restaurant. In the mean time, there were 2 other tables in the bar area that could accommodate groups of 6-8 but had only been sat with 2 people at them. The tables are really cool (old re-purposed doors), but that limits the seating options since they can't be made smaller for smaller groups. It may be a good idea to look into converting at least one of the large tables to a table that would give the option of scaling it down into 2-3 tables for couples to be seated. Otherwise, 2 people sitting at a table made for 6-8 is just wasted space, and lost revenue for the restaurant.
When we were finally seated, we had a great and very attentive server (whose name I can't remember, sorry!), who went over the menu with us and gave us recommendations. We ordered several appetizers (do yourself a favor and try the brussels sprouts and the Parma flatbread), and each of us got a pasta dish. Everything was delicious! We even splurged on dessert (mascarpone cheesecake was phenomenal!). All in all, we had a wonderful dinner and will absolutely be back to try more of the fantastic menu!
We were treated like second class clients - we made a mistake by making a reservation because they considered us to be guaranteed business. Our server was extremely unprofessional, he did not explain the Valentine's specials like we overheard him tell other tables that came in after us. He also refused to make a wine recommendation, claiming that he is is not a wine drinker, which is preposterous for staff in a restaurant in Little Italy. The front of house staff all seemed to arrive after our 7:30 reservation, which was in poor taste and planning for Valentine's Day evening. They were so preoccupied with other clientele that they began to move our table before we even got up from it. I had to beg them to stop and respect our dignity. I wish we hadn't gone to Germano's.
Ordered what I was told by the waitress to be the best meal on the menu, the 45 oz porterhouse. First off, it was far from 45oz, looked more like a 24 oz tbone, Ordered it medium rare, as the "chef recommends," and it came out medium well and in some parts well done. I'm not one to complain, being a business owner I understand things happen. On the menu, there was no price next to the steak, it said market. Had I known the $99 price tag, I definitely would've said something. Overall, no part of this experience was worth the 4.4 star review that brought me into this place.
