Gerard's Restaurant Maui Ratings and Reviews
Food was okay, but not good value considering that the restaurant is pricey. Service from the waiter was poor; he was bumbling and inattentive and being followed by a trainee (sort of like the blind leading the blind). The Maitre D filled in some of the gaps, mercifully. I would not go back given the other choices available.
As always , a wonder dining experience It is unfortunate that so few people understand fine dining these days. They are moving to fast enjoy the experience or don’ t know the difference between a average meal and a great one. They are the kind of person who buys a cheap wine because wine is supposedly in rather than purchasing a good wine that you can truly enjoy. Gerard’s like a fine wine should be experienced and enjoyed by anyone with a sophisticated palate.
AMAZING! The best meal we have ever had! Our server, Scott was incredibly knowledgable, attentive and is now stuck with us! We can't wait to go back and will be bringing a group of 9 on March 1 for dinner.
Thank you for an amazing meal and experience.
Looking forward to our next reservation!

The food was just OK
The Lobster Bisque was bad. I can't even say it was OK.
My scallop appetizer was ok, but it was 1 scallop thinly cut into 4 slices. Expected more than that for $16
The fish of the day was bland.
Any my pork tenderloin had good flavor but was over cooked. It was medium-well instead of medium rare. Completely grey. Not the slightest hint of pink. No give to the touch.
Even if the food had been exceptional, the price would have been high. I could live with a high price if the food was exceptional.
But the price was ridiculous for the meal we received.
I will not eat here again.
In the past we have always enjoyed Gerard's when we visit Maui, and this occasion was no exception. We love this French restaurant in downtown Lahaina! We started with escargot and a bright salad, both delicious - the escargot had the usual garlic butter, but in this case enhanced with a lot of chopped parsley which provided unexpected body. The salad had a classic French vinaigrette, without the sugar added to so many restaurant dressings. I had a tasty duck confit surrounded with white beans & ham, and my sweetie had a filet mignon with sides. Oo la la!
One of our favorite restaurants on Maui. Gerard uses only the freshest locally caught fish , sets his specials on what type of fish could be caught that day. Always prepared to perfection with a little French fusion in the preparation. Appetizers are very delicious and there is a great bar.
The service has always been outstanding. Very polite, friendly and prompt. Everyone there makes a special occasion feel special.
Prices are appropriate for the quality of food and service.
One of our go to restaurants for special / romantic occasions.
Generally I love Gerard’s; however they were a bit understaffed at our recent New Year’s Eve dinner. One waiter for a new section they normally don’t serve. He was hustling but it took close to a half hour to get water. The food was, as always, really really good. The lamb, pork, soups were all outstanding. We will definitely continue to go to Gerard’s.
We had a fabulous meal at Gerard’s. I had the veal chop and it was one of the best things I had eaten in a long time. The morel sauce was delicious. My friend had the Hawaiian snapper and it was cooked perfectly and excellent. We had the Dusty Road desert that was unique and also delicious. The only reason for the r stars for service was the fact our server a
Was a bit demure. I brought my own wine which was a big cut above their selection and she just opened it and poured two full glasses. While I understand it was min and if bad there was no recourse on them I would have liked to taste it first. I certainly will return.
Possibly the best restaurant on Maui. Been there multiple times over the past 20+ years. Every meal has been exquisite. Service impeccable, always. This is a low key, quiet, lovely spot. Do not miss this on your Maui visit, or you will be missing a real treasure.
My husband and I have been to Gerard's other years and it continues to be one of our restaurants in Lahaina. Although the restaurant is not ocean front we enjoyed our table on the porch. The service was amazing and the food (we had the fresh catch of the day) was delicious.
We have been dining at Gerard's, mostly for special occasions, over the past 25 years. It is always delightful, with delicious food and excellent service. The atmosphere is very pleasant, set in and around a period victorian home. Prices are quite high, by local standards, though certainly in line with other top tier restaurants on Maui.
On this occasion, our meal was a bit less than excellent due to my entre being dried out. We also had to endure loud conversation from a large, energetic family table next to ours...there were no other seating options available. Gerard's should not be faulted for it's guests' exuberance, but when we're paying about 5 times the cost of a more "average" dinner out, our expectations for a great evening are fairly high.
We went for my wife’s birthday. She’s French so we were happy to find a restaurant serving some typically French cuisine. The menu was very innovative for Maui with a very large selection to choose from, and the food was cooked well. The wine list is also extensive, though it seemed a little pricey. They offer a Kama’Aina discount if you know to ask for it, so that makes up for the price.
I would say our dessert (profiteroles) was the highlight for us. They felt light and complemented well by the honey ice cream, chocolate sauce and cream. Very well done.
Dinner was phenomenal. We had steak filet, the rack of lamb and the bacon wrapped pork tenderloin. WOW!
I still compare every other pork tenderloin to Gerard’s, and haven’t found anything that compares. Such an amazing combination with the sweet potatoes and the sweet compote. Perfectly cooked juicy pork wrapped in bacon. It’s a large dish and I manage to finish it every time.
The rack of lamb is delicious. The sauce has a touch of mint and goes perfectly with the lamb. Delicious!
The steak was cooked just right and came over a delicious sauce and with some awesome au gratin potatoes. Sooo good!!
The best restaurant on maui.
We had a perfect evening at Gerard's celebrating my birthday. The food was superb, and me and my two companions were beyond pleased. The escargot and uku were delicious. Colin was our server and he, along with Burt and Sarah, made the night so much more special. Colin added subtle little touches for the occasion that made a big impression, and was justthe sweetest. Highly recommended, and I'll definitely be back.
We enjoy dining at Gerard’s each visit to Hawaii. We enjoy the outdoor dining. I enjoy the fresh fish selections. This visit my husband chose the pork entree but he too, not a seafood lover, often goes with a mild fish selection. Good wine and dessert choices too. Always wonderful service.
This is our second time to Gerard’s. Both times have been enjoyable and the food has been great. The service on the second occasion was great, but not as over the top as the first time we went last year. Still very worth the trip and evening at this fine restaurant. It is definitely a nice break from all the other fare that you find on the island. Price is spendy, and wine list is on point with the type of restaurant. Service could better at recommending wine or drinks to compliment meals and the option to book the patio when booking a reservation would be nice. For the $300 we spent for dinner, I don’t feel like the service matched the expected gratuity. Still a nice place to eat and food was still excellent!
While vacationing in Maui, we finally decided to try Gerard’s. It was a fabulous, as was our waiter. We we’re seated outside on the front porch, so enjoyed being in the warm Hawaiian air. I did the ahi with taro chips for a starter and hubby had the pasta with shrimp. We both raved!! Dinner was fresh caught fish... perfect cooked and prepared. Finished with French pressed coffee. A delightful place and evening.
