I thought the food and service were good. I just felt it was overpriced for what it was.
Absolutely one of the finest meals we have ever had. Best rack of lamb I personally have ever tasted. Warm and friendly environment and even the chef/owner came out to speak to us. An absolute must when you are on Maui.
We love French food and Gerard’s doesn’t disappoint. The setting is lovely - makes you want to stay at the hotel. The food is fantastic
Ambiance was amazing! Beautiful plantation style house and on a quiet street away from Maui crowds. Food was excellent as well as the presentation.
This place is the jewel of Maui. Chef Gerard greeted us and spent time at the table walking us through the menu. The chance to hear how a chef was insprired and then he delivered the best dinner on the island - priceless!
Classic French culinary techniques adapted creatively to local Maui ingredients. Girard's for the combination of food and ambience is unbeatable -- including all the other Maui top end restaurants and we've been to them all. Merci beaucoup Girard!
Our favorite dining experience of our stay in Maui! Food was amazing and the service superb. The chef/owner visited our table and we enjoyed our conversation with him. The extremely knowledgeable staff was very friendly and accommodating. We would highly recommend!
Great in all respects.
Gerard's is a nice change from the usual fare that you are offered in Hawaii although it is way over-priced, in my opinion.
It was great, as always!
Really good food, especially the scallops! We had two waiter serve us. The older was very knowledgeable and friendly. The younger waiter was a bit corny and somewhat pretentious though.
Our first visit to Gerard’s and NOT disappointed. Very accommodating and a quaint environment. Bacon Wrapped Pork Chop and Catch of the day was excellent.
This is the finest restaurant on Maui. Consistently fabulous fresh local offerings prepared to perfection. This last visit was not our first and will definitely not be our last Service was excellent and Gerard personally visited our table for a wonderful end of evening conversation.
Out of all the restaurants we ate at while in Maui (including Mama’s Fish House), this was the best. The food was exceptional (foie gras was one of the best I’ve had in a long time), ambiance and service were excellent. Very glad I chose this restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. Highly recommended.
Gerard’s never disappoints. Fantastic food incredible service from Clay. We will definitely be back
We have tried most of the high-end restaurants in Maui, and many are good; but, by far, Gerard’s is the best. At our last visit we started with Ahi/Smoke Salmon carpaccio (simply a master piece) and hearts of palm salad. For our entree, we ordered the snapper and Ono. All dishes were incredibly good. Our main server was Noah and he was GREAT. Kudos to Gerard and thank you for another fantastic evening.
This was our second visit to Gerard's. We absolutely love it. We sit on the outside porch and the weather was perfect. It is very quaint. The shrimp and pasta dish was absolutely amazing! We will go again as soon as we are back in Maui. Highly recommend and they were very helpful in picking out a wonderful bottle of wine and our server was wonderful as well!
My husband treated me to a wonderful retirement dinner. Lovely setting, attentive wait staff, and delicious food!
Had a very nice meal we always eat there when we are in Maui. Thank you Collins for a nice night and your recommendation on the fresh catch of the day, highly recommend Gerard’s.
This is one of the best places to eat in Maui, you will not be disappointed.
Went back again on our trip the food was so good! Tried the tasting menu they offer, to experience even more. So much food and every bite was heaven! There’s a wine pairing too! Most memorable dinner of our stay. Highly recommend!
Took a potential investor out for a dinner where I was looking to impress. —“The best meal he had ever had!”
I’d say Gerard’s got it right again!!!
Every time I dine here it impresses me. A quality you just can’t find any where else on Maui.
Hands down the best food I’ve ever had. The intimate atmosphere allowed me to concentrate on the flavor of the dishes and enjoy the quality of conversation. The highlight of the night was sharing dessert with the man himself, Chef Gerard. Wonderful conclusion to my birthday celebration. Thanks again, Chef. It was an honor.
Wow! The food, service, ambiance truly amazing! I would highly recommend this place.
Gerard's is a dining gem. The is classic French cooking meshed with local ingredients. The service was elegant and discreet at the same time. The food is incredible. I had the best Pork tenderloin dish I have ever eaten and my wife's fish was fresh and cooked perfectly. She said it was to die for. I asked about a sauce and Gerard personally came out and discussed how he prepared the dish. Incredible. This is a memorable dining experience to find a five star classic Frech restaurant in Maui. This is dining at its best.
Unimpressed with our experience. Started with stale bread and when we informed the waiter we were brought more stale bread. Our meals were okay although my husbands was not hot enough and mine was overly hot like it had been flashed in the oven too long. This place didn't do it for us. Overpriced and robotic service.
The food was as usual outstanding and the service was very good as well .Gerard's has always offered a discount for locals in the past. However it seems they no longer are interested In that business since they have discontinued, without notification, the availability of a discount for locals.
We celebrated Mother’s Day at Gerard’s in Lahaina. Our specials of the day were so tasty and portions adequate. My sorbet and coconut cookie dessert was delicious. We always enjoy the experience and food.
We had a memorable meal at Gerard's ten years ago, and we made it a point to return two nights ago on our return trip to Maui. The fresh, local fish was prepared in creative ways. I had the Hawaiian snapper, which is roasted in savory olive oil, accompanied by fennel fondue, potato and carrot puree, and an emulsion of Orange and Ginger. My other half had the Fresh Fish of the Day, which was ono, panko crusted and served with a champagne butter sauce, accompanied by spinach and the potato and carrot puree. Both dishes were excellent.
For dessert we ordered a millefeuille to share. It was composed of light puff pastry layers filled with a lovely lemon pastry cream, Chantilly cream and fresh local strawberries. The coffee was so good, I had to ask what they were brewing. It was blended for them by Maui Coffee, and I was able to order some online.
To me, the service is a restaurant is as important as the food, and Gerard's service is right up there. The waiters are personable and professional. The evening was completely enjoyable on every level.
Best meal we’ve had on Maui! The wine, the food, amazing!!
I have nothing to compare it too since I ever never been to a “French” restaurant before and Gerard’s being unique with the Hawaiian influence there really nothing to compare it to. Our meal was prepared to perfection and the presentation was also perfect but most importantly it was deliciously delectable. We had tuna tartar and scallops for our appetizers and the flavors were all fresh and complementary to one another. The scallops were raw which was the first time I had a raw scallop and was concerned slightly but they were thinly sliced and were very good. And the tuna tartar was also very good and a very generous serving. Being as we had a late lunch we shared an entree, having the catch of the day which was Ono fish which we also had never had before. It was excellent and grilled perfectly. It seems like it could be a dry fish but ours was perfect. It was accompanied by beautifully presented mashed potatoes and served on a bed of sautéed spinach, wonderfully seasoned with some shrimp and capers. And most importantly Colin, our server was most gracious and accommodating and recommended a great wine. Definitely would go back. We were truly impressed.
A Foodies must!
Where to start? best dining experience on Maui as always!
This was not my first time there, it is my favorite restaurant on the island and I thought that I should for once review it, to thank the team for their dedication.
We were warmly greeted immediately upon arrival and seated at a wonderful round table on the lovely porch. This place is charming, elegant, classy, and romantic. Seating arrangement in this restaurant offers the perfect intimacy and comfort, which is spot on for the romantic anniversary we came to celebrate !!!
We had an heavenly experience from the top-notch service, to the amazing culinary decadence. All our expectations have been reached and our needs fulfilled.
Every single dish was out of this world, we had the terrine of foie gras with an exquisite Sauternes jelly and a pineapple chutney ( amazing subtle island touch to complement this french delicacy), the escargots ( to die for!), the quail Villeroy with Perigueux sauce ( fabulous) and the civet of Venison Grand Veneur (melts in your mouth, delectable sauce), this culinary experience was a real treat!
The waitstaff was kind, and our waiter John was very attentive, knowledgeable and professional. They also serve freshly caught island fish and have a great wine selection. Fantastic experience, we will definitely go there again and again...
Gerard's is an utterly delightful restaurant with the most wonderful food. Everything was fresh and prepared to perfection. The catch of the day was presented with panko breading in a champagne butter sauce (YUM!) with lobster ravioli and vegetables. (This description doesn't do justice to the beauty of the presentation.) The wine list is extensive and has a lot of interesting French wines. We chose a Chablis that was perfect with our meal. The service was stellar. Our waiter Colin was friendly, attentive and professional. The atmosphere is a mixture of French elegance and old Hawaii charm. Altogether probably our most enjoyable meal in our many years of visiting Maui.
Bisque was very good, snapper just ok but sides with it very good. And mouse was superb
Gerard's is our favorite Maui restaurant. We try to come at least twice during each of our visits to the island. The food preparation is creative, presented in a lovely way, and very fresh. The blend of French and seafood are perfect, and the setting on the porch are divine.
After 10 days of Pacific Rim and Hawaiian cuisines, we opted for French on our last day in the islands. What we did not expect was some of the best French food we've ever tasted -- in Maui! We adore lobster bisque and Gerard's was wonderful. My boyfriend had the quail and raved over it. My scallops were served in a pool of Vermouth-laced cream sauce that was so delicious it comes with a spoon so you can lap up every drop. The dish was rimmed with tiny dollops of potatoes Mont D'or and, although I tend not to eat potato sides, these were so good I didn't leave a single one. We dined on the softly lit porch where it was so quiet and peaceful we could hardly believe we were only a block and a half away from noisy and crowded Front Street. We'll be making Gerard's a last-night tradition on Maui from now on.
This was, hands down, the BEST meal we had during our vacation in Maui. The only hitch was when our server brought the wrong entree to a member of our group who then had to wait while the others ate their entrees. Hence the lower rating for “Service”.
The chocolate gateau was SUPERB! The nuttiness of crushed macadamia nuts in the flour was sublime. All hail Chef Gerard!
This was our first time at Gerard 's, but it won't be our last. The lobster bisque is to die for! My husband and I both ordered the chef's fish of the day and were in love at first bite. Colin, our waiter was fabulous.
We had such a lovely dinner at Gerard's. Meals are French with a Hawaiian twist. Service is excellent. We sat outside on the open front porch. There were no problems with bugs or noise. They have a lovely lower patio which, I believe, they use during the busier times of year. There is also indoor seating. We ate here our first night after our almost 10 hour flight. This was the perfect choice!
Gerard's is one of the best restaurants in Lahaina if not the island of Maui. Consistently offering done French cuisine, this place never fails to deliver a fine dinner. We came here for our anniversary. Started with the mushroom puff pastry then we both had fish - mahi mahi and ono - and both were excellent. We ended with a creme caramel dessert. Gerard himself came out of the kitchen to greet us. Highly recommended.
