Gerard's Restaurant Maui Ratings and Reviews
This is an old established French restaurant. My wife ordered escargot and i had Gerard salad as an app. We have had better escargot, but i liked it. My salad was overdressed and not good.
For entrees my wife ordered rack of lamb and i ordered pork tenderloin. My pork was delicious. My wife's lamb was good, but we have had better.
This was our first time here. Our server was excellent. They have lots of wine, but seems overpriced. They also have a very small limited menu. We would not go back. Too many better restaurants in the area.
We celebrated my husband's birthday at Gerard's choosing the garden instead of inside.
The ambiance in the garden was perfect and quiet considering each of the 5 tables was occupied.
Sarah, our waitress, was friendly, efficient and accommodating.
Our entrees were flavorful and satisfying.
Be prepared to spend $$$ here!
One of the top restaurants on Maui. Fantastic French cuisine in a great setting. Service impeccable. Food delicious. We had shrimp and ribbon pasta appetizer which was great. Amazing fish. Other major pluses are the ambiance with quiet dining where one can actually hear others at the table. Easy parking. Top notch chef creates memorable experience.
I had the venison and it was great. The sauce and other accompaniments were perfect with the perfectly prepared meat. My wife loved her filet and the sides that came with it. If you come to Maui and miss Gerard’s, you will miss a truly outstanding dining experience.
For my money, this is the best dining spot in Lahaina. And if you have the chance to go, you should. Perhaps a few dollars a plate more than the other top spots, but the excellent presentation and fabulous sauces make it worthwhile. Service very professional and nice wine list to choose from for a memorable meal.
With Fish bought straight from the harbor you can tell us some of the freshest seafood on island.
The ahi tartar was amazing and the preparation of the fresh catch entree was phenomenal.
My wife took the scallops au gratin. What a beautifully done dish. She loves scallops and usually gets the appetizer scallops but this time took the different preparation as ‘scallops au gratin’ main course and loved it!
The food at Gerard's is world class. It's authentic, exceptional, unpretentious French cuisine in a cozy corner in the tropical paradise of Maui. Gerard was in the kitchen and was delightful as he came around to talk to the guests. The Kir Royale is a delightful apperitif. The wine list is deep and impressive. We had a bottle of Turley at what I thought was an excellent value.
The Shiitake mushroom puff pastry was light, delicate, and scintillatingly spiced. The savory mushrooms were full bodied, yet not at all over-powering. The ahi and salmon carpaccio was fresh, light and absolutely delicious. The Scallops au gratin was simple and flavorful.
The beef filet was possibly the best filet I have ever had. It was perfectly cooked. Butter knife soft. Perfectly, delicately seasoned. The experience of tasting it is one of those sublime moments that will stay with me for a long time, and I eat at a lot of exceptional restaurants. I'm pretty sure my girl friend had an orgasm when she tasted it. My reaction was not so different. That taste was a reminder of why food matters.
Good food but a little on the pricey side. Great service and attention. Only drawback is the parking situation. The Hotel/Restaurant share the same parking but it always is full. Parking across the street in lots is plentiful but expensive for just having dinner.
Food was okay, but not good value considering that the restaurant is pricey. Service from the waiter was poor; he was bumbling and inattentive and being followed by a trainee (sort of like the blind leading the blind). The Maitre D filled in some of the gaps, mercifully. I would not go back given the other choices available.
As always , a wonder dining experience It is unfortunate that so few people understand fine dining these days. They are moving to fast enjoy the experience or don’ t know the difference between a average meal and a great one. They are the kind of person who buys a cheap wine because wine is supposedly in rather than purchasing a good wine that you can truly enjoy. Gerard’s like a fine wine should be experienced and enjoyed by anyone with a sophisticated palate.
Love dining at Gerard's which we have done every time we go to Maui. Its our favorite restaurant to go to that feels really special. Ambiance is so romantic sitting outside on the lovely outside porch with the twinkle lights. Its so nice and quiet and the service always exceptional. The food is always fantastic no matter what we have ever ordered. And they have my favorite French wine so an extra plus. There were so many couples there just like us who said its their favorite restaurant they always go to when visiting Maui when they want to have a special evening together.
AMAZING! The best meal we have ever had! Our server, Scott was incredibly knowledgable, attentive and is now stuck with us! We can't wait to go back and will be bringing a group of 9 on March 1 for dinner.
Thank you for an amazing meal and experience.
Looking forward to our next reservation!
