French Cuisine with a Hawaiian flair. Established in 1982, as casual place- where Gerard creates his dishes by getting his ingredients only from local fishermans and farmers. A true pioneer in farm to table dinning, long before it became fashionable. In 1987 Gerard moved his restaurant just a half block up Lahainaluna Rd. to the Plantation Inn. He has quietly continued his culinary greatness the only way he knows how, making each dish exactly perfect. Sourcing only fresh caught whole fish directly from local fisherman and fruits/produce from his own garden and others on Maui and Big Island. Gerard’s team of professionals in the front and back of the house execute team service to perfection. A seamless flow in the kitchen continues to the front of the house where dishes are served straight from the oven to the guest. Servers work together to assure every table gets VIP service. We have been vacationing in Maui for several years, and Gerard's has consistently been our top choice for dining out. The food is excellent, as is the service, and they have a very good wine list. It's quiet, and having dinner on the veranda is a special treat that feels the closest to 'old Hawaii' as one can get. Strongly recommended by Doris & Denis!

A hidden gem. Happy to try a restaurant that is not your run of the mill, same ol, same ol fare, where nothing much varies from place to place. Since this is a french restaurant they are already ahead of the curve with uncommon dishes such as good food gras (duck livers) which were delectible with a glass of sautirne could easily have been my entre and dessert. Also tried the snapper dumplings with sorrel dauce
Loved it. Very unique comfort food. Had the duck confit and the steak. Both are plate licking good! We enjoyed the comfy B&B atmosphere and the great service. Looking forward to another visit and maybe a stay at the adjacent inn.

We dine at Gerard’s several times a year. The food has always been impeccable in quality and presentation. The fish specials are always high quality locally caught fish. The restaurant is quaint, comfortable with low noise levels. The staff should receive a rating much higher than 5 stars. Gerard, although busy never fails to take the time to come to our table and say hello and see if we need anything.
This is and will continue to be our go to restaurant for special occasions.

The description of the fish on the menu as well as the waiters clarification is quite a bit off. What is described as snapper is actually an Hawaiian fish “in the snapper style”. What is that supposed to mean. Turned out the fish was very good but would have enjoyed it more if there was a better description.

We had dinner here the last time we were in Lahaina.We (3 of us)had the Ono special which was outstanding.My wife had scallops which were excellent.For a appetizer 3of us had escargot which I would recommend.The service was great as was the ambience.If you come there with someone who is handicapped let them know in advance as they have a lift,but need to move tables to access it.We’ll be back!

Our annual trip to Maui always includes dinner at Gerard's and it never disappoints. It is absolutely superb. My husband and I were fortunate enough to be able to do the tasting with wine pairing menu. It was divine although beware....it is an awful lot of food! Our waitress was attentive and just lovely. And to top this all off we met Gerard! Another wonderful Maui memory. Thank you!

Everything started out great. Towards the end of the meal, the bus person picked up our champagne glasses by the rims. When I protested, because we still had champagne left, she set the same champagne glasses back down, after being in her hands and holding onto the rims. This was a $80/ bottle of champagne. There was a man with his iPhone who was using it like a spot light, after over a minute of blinding light in my eyes, we asked him to turn the light towards the page he was reading. He did not like being asked to stop shining the blinding light in my eyes. I think his wife got it.
We were given our check without ever being asked if we wanted desert or being given a desert menu. I had already picked out my desert but, was given the check and told how to settle it. We took it as a sign and left without having 2 or 3 deserts and 3 cups of coffee. Sad because the night started out so well.

We were in Maui for 2 weeks and decided to go back to the best restaurant we visited on our last evening and Gerard’s got the vote. Tonight we avoided the fish specials which we had before and took the pork tenderloin (amazing with the rhubarb compote) and scallops gratin, both were excellent and even better than our first visit. It is expensive, but definitely worth it!

The food was good but a little too Frenchie for my taste. Nothing on the menu except French, so no other choices available, plus very expensive if you are not into French cooling.

We love Gerard's and have been coming here every year for the past 10 years. The French Country decor is charming and the food is excellent. Gerard has sweetbreads on the menu by request if you call several days in advance and they are perfectly sauteed.

Outstanding dinner! The seared foie gras was the best we have ever had! The fresh fish special that night was Ono and it was so delicious! Scallops were perfection. And save room for some of the best ice cream you will ever have. The four of us agreed the fantastic service on top of an unforgettable meal, made this a perfect evening.

The food was not great and super expensive. Ono was over cooked & hard. Scallops just didn’t cut it. Snapper dumpling terrible! I would never go back. $240 what a waste of money.

My friend tried to persuade me not to go to Gerard's based on the reviews she has read. However, as I have a penchant for French cuisine, I brushed off some the reviews she brought up as the reviewer doesn't know what is true French cuisine and doesn't know what they are talking about, and insisted to dine at Gerard's. Now I regret...

The food was sub optimal and the service belong to Applebees. I had the Locally Caught Hawaiian Snapper, the fish was dry and chewy. I believe the photo I posted here describes the service well... One more thing worthwhile mention: perhaps Gerard's is the only restaurant in Maui does not allow bringing your own wine with a corkage fee. I troubled myself with a bottle of Domaine Laroche Chablis Reserve de l'Obedience Grand Cru 2015, but did not have the pleasure to enjoy that.

As I often disqualify many restaurant reviews as "wannabe" foodie, I'm listing some of the restaurants we have dined in 2019 so you can be the judge of my review.

We had an enjoyable experience and the service was great. Our only negative was that the value of the food was not $150 per person (pre fixe menu) of that we paid.
If there were a few more options it may have been better able to accommodate different taste buds.
Overall a good night though and would definitely look into their happy hour or regular night options.

Always enjoy sitting on the porch with it’s feeling of a plantation setting. The staff is very knowledgeable about the menu items. Favorite appetizers include the quenelle in lobster sauce and the wild mushroom in puff pastry. Our entrees included sweetbreads, a generous portion of lightly pan sautéed/fried presentation accompanied by buttered spinach and puréed carrot. Wife had the quail, delicate,flavorful and tender. The wine list offers a nice selection by the glass, half bottle and bottle from wide range of countries and wineries. A very special occasion experience.

We love love love this place. Very a accommodating to requests! Service is excellent. Every time we go to Maui we always make a point to go to Gerard’s. Food is awesome. Service is 2nd to none. The chef remembers his customers and we were honored that he took care of our special request.

French haute cuisine in Maui is unexpected and welcome. Food was well executed and choices plenty. Service was attentive and friendly. However, seating was outdoors, on a street, tables close together. A great break during a week of “local,” “farm to table,” and other similar (albeit great) top Lahaina alternatives. How do they get foie gras and escargots to Maui?

Being lovers of French Food this place did not disappoint! My husband and I decided to try this place as we were tired of the same types of food in Hawaii. We are so glad we did... the food was delicious and the place itself was so cute! There’s are reasons why it is still standing after 37 years... highly recommend this place.

Surprising dinner spot in the midst of touristy locations. Wine list had small selections but all were top wines. Desert was unique and exceptional. The special fish selection my wife tried made my filet pale in comparison Definitely a recommended dinner selection

The restaurant is cute even though it really isn’t an old plantation house as they imply. The staff were great and the food delicious. I don’t like that the gratuity is automatically added. I think a tip amount should be my choice. We were a party of 2.
