We hadn't been to Geranio's in a few years, and remembered it as an OK restaurant; reliable but not fantastic. We were pleasantly surprised with both the quality of the food and the service. Very friendly/welcoming wait staff and food better than we'd remembered. We will definitely go back more regularly.
Geronio’s never disappoints. Elegantly prepared northern Italian classics (risotto, cream sauces, fish, veal) beautifully presented. We had delectable fried (lightly and crisply) calamari for appetizer and the heavenly 1/2 lobster in pink seafood sauce (w giant shrimp and scallops therein). Multi Bene!
The seafood pasta special (featuring a whole lobster, scallops, mussels, and shrimp) was fantastic and HUGE! We are both big eaters and we still opted to share it, and they very generously plated it individually for us (including a split-down-the-middle lobster), which was a really nice touch in the service. The only thing I'd critique is - bring back the gnocchi in lemon cream sauce for the regular menu! We had it as the appetizer special and were reminded of what we were missing.
Found this restaurant online. Lovely atmosphere, great food, nice Birthday environment. Would definitely recommend to others. No problem with seating mid week, plenty of attention from wait staff. We ordered lobster risotto, lamb special and mussels for an appetizer. Wine was very reasonable. Would recommend to others.
We dined at Geranio with friends and family. It was a purely social occasion to get together with my nephew and a French exchange student he and his wife were hosting for a few weeks. The service was good and attentive. The food was good but the menu a bit outdated and tired. A refreshed menu would go a long way to make us want to return soon.
Geranio has been my go-to spot for special dinners, out-of-town guests, and consistent great meals for years now, and I have yet to be disappointed. I've taken guests there from around the world and all over the country and everyone goes away pleased with the quality of the food and the discreet service. This time was no exception. Keep up the wonderful work!
We were looking forward to trying Geranio's after a long absence.
It was a busy Sat. night --but the service was OK.
My date didn't like his veal chop and found it quite fatty.
My swordfish was fine.
All in all it was quite expensive for dinner and one drink.
We were a little disappointed.
My friends and I celebrated my birthday at Geranio after I received a $20 birthday gift card via email. Even though I made note of the gift card in my reservation, it took several conversations to get it approved during our dinner. I personally was disappointed in the service; we sat for a while before being served and the waiter rarely checked in with us. I ordered the risotto with parmesan, zucchini and asparagus; it was tasty but the risotto was a little gummy and the vegetables were limp. The atmosphere was cozy as always.
This was my first time dining at Geriano. I read the raving reviews on Yelp. We had the mushroom risotto for an appetizer and it was delicious. I had the chicken Marsala and it was the best that I have ever eaten. The staff were very professional, exceptional and extremely friendly. My friends also enjoyed their meal. I will definitely return and spread the word about this exceptional restaurant.
I’m a regular, but they nearly lost me when the receptionist could not find my reservation. That problem was fairly quickly resolved when a knowledgeable waiter showed her how to find it.
I like Geranio because the menu is delightful and the corkage fee is $15.
We enjoyed a large group dinner to celebrate a birthday. It was a busy Saturday night during Restaurant Week so it was a little slower service than some might prefer. The food was excellent and they offered a good wine selection on the wine list. I would return again, it seemed a good spot for date night.
Really great food. Came here for restaurant week and couldn't have been happier with it! Only bad thing was that the waiter mixed up our temperature requests for our meats but the kitchen quickly fixed it and it barely disrupted the dinner. Two thumbs up, would definitely go back.
The risotto is a must have!! Delicioso!
Our Go-To Italian Restaurant Let Us Down -
We have been going to Geranio for years but our last visit was most disappointing because of the poor service. The food was quite good as always. But the waiter was so slow and unattentive that our dining experience was ruined. We arrived about 6:00pm and never left until after 8:00pm. We sat at a cleared table for about 30 minutes before we were able to order desert. We were not aware that we were dining during Restaurant Week and I hope that was the problem. Note to the Owner/Chef - don't participate in Restaurant Week unless you have adequate servers available. We will reyurn again, of course. But just not during Restaurant Week
The food was very good and perfect for restaurant week. Service was average. They didn't have our table ready when we arrived, but were friendly and attentive during the meal. The decor could use some updating, but then the clientele seemed to skew older than our group. I would bring my parents and grandparents when they are in town, but would not come here again with friends or on a date night.
We went for Restaurant Week and were very excited about the menu. Overall the food and staff were good- clearly very busy with it being Restaurant Week. I had made reservation and they said "they were overbooked" but could seat us at a small table. We were fine with that but then the hostess came back twice to ask if we had a reservation and what the name on the reservation was. The next day I received an email from Opentable saying "Sorry we missed you at Geranio" when I had told them three times the name on my reservation. My one comment about the food was that the lamb was overcooked and a small portion but again it being Restaurant Week I was impressed at the number of plate they were cranking out.
