“If you’re looking for some smooth jazz, delicious food and cocktails, Sunday Brunch at Georgia Brown’s is the place to be. The buffet is filled with delicious dishes and desserts. The Salmon, Steamed Shrimp, Grits, Pasta Salad, Waffles were my favorites to name a few. The mimosas and cocktails were great too. I also loved the band!”
Excellent, friendly accommodating service. Food was cooked just right. The gumbo was authentic, and we especially liked the succotash that accompanied the jerk catfish.
The food was good, however the service left
Much to be desired. No one was rude just kinda slow; maybe they were busy but I’d go back.
My food was not as aesthetically pleasing to the eye as the menu description made it sounds. I had Devil's shrimp, which was crab stuffed shrimp with sweet and savory sauce drizzled over it. That was fine however my two sides, sautéed spinach and mac and cheese, were basically lobbed together on my plate. In other words, my mac and cheese was placed on top of my spinach in the middle of the plate with the crab stuffed shrimp surrounding it. It was very odd to me and I almost wanted to send my plate back and ask if the chef could separate the two, but I decided against it; the description did not mention that it would be presented this way. Additionally, I had high hopes for the peach tea and yams that my boyfriend and I ordered to share, but they were both lacking in flavor. At least his lamb chops, mashed red potatoes and asparagus were "decent". We tried to deviate from our normal dining places since it was my birthday, but this was a miss for us. Unfortunately, we were quite disappointed that we spent $90 here. I would say their food is probably best during Sunday brunch.
We arrived later than our reservation, BUT the restaurant was more than accommodating us and sitting us immediately. Our server was Bob. Bob is great when he is on point, like he was NYE 2016, but not so good this time around. He was not as expressive and was very slow in comparison to our other experience which was a very active/busy night. Ultimately his inability to be timely with my drink order is the reason for the 3 star for service. Couple that with an over cooked steak for my wife who ultimately didn't finish her aniversary meal as a result, and this was a less than par experience from an exceptional establishment.
Food was wonderful and service was excellent. I sat in the bar and enjoyed their happy hour specials before my dinner reservation. Overall it was a pleasant experience.
Georgia Brown's was a great find for dinner while in D.C. on a long weekend vacation. The food was authentic southern and simply delicious. It was unpretentious and done to perfection. The crab stuffed "devil shrimp" were amazing, and the mac and cheese and spinach that come with it couldn't be better. I'd highly recommend to anyone and would absolutely go back.
Reservations mean nothing, the food was good and the service was horrific!!!!!!!!!
I love taking my friends and family here when they visit! The Jazz Brunch is always wonderful!
Sunday brunch was great, but was super crowded and loud. Couldn’t hear person across the table.
