Admittedly, the last time I had visited Georgia Browns was in 2005/2006. At that time, the buffet included a take-home entree.
Perhaps my palette has been refined in the last 15+yrs but the food was unappealing, especially at $70/person. There’s no live music (due to Covid restrictions) and you do not get a take-home entree. Given the adequate at best food options, it is difficult to determine what you’re paying for, outside of the name.
Price was outrages
Food wasn't worth $70
and not good. Will not go back not the same.
The music food and service was awesome
Great food and service. The Sea Bass was excellent!
Wonderful experience! We enjoyed the food and atmosphere! Covid safety guidelines are adhered, and the outside patio option is beautiful. We can’t wait to come back. Please open one in Chicago!
Amazing food and ambiance! Best Sunday brunch!
an official DC staple. i haven't been in over 10yrs so it was good to partake. i'll be back
Everything was PHENOMENAL!! From decorum, to ambience. The food was spectacular. I definitely recommend the banana pudding!!
Slow service, good was average, drinks were very good. The restrooms need to be cleaned.
Delicious food , wonderful place, very warm and comfortable. I would recommend this place many times over.
Four of us had dinner here on a Wed. night. We almost had the restaurant to ourselves as pandemic restrictions were being lifted. The atmosphere was good and the service great. However, the food was average. I had heard so much about the place and being from out-of-town I had high expectations. The gumbo was ok but seemed overcooked, and low on flavor. The shrimp was added on top of the gumbo which was a bit unusual. The fried green tomatoes weren’t tasty either and undercooked. They were kind enough to remove them from my bill since I only ate one slice. The service was great and the margaritas I had were on point.
Went for Sunday brunch, the selection was vast. We tried nearly everything on the brunch menu, it was fantastic. We had gumbo, shrimp n grits, salmon, steak n eggs, crab Benedict, chicken n waffles, mac n cheese, duck hash, and dirty rice. The mimosas & bellinis were very good as well. It did take quite a while for the server to bring our additional plates. However it was pretty busy that morning and he was extremely polite. I found it a bit pricey in my opinion.
Overall it was a wonderful experience. Couple of the staple dishes (Mac and cheese, potato salad were not well seasoned/ bland ). Don’t forget to make the main thing the main thing... food quality has always been exceptional. But just coming back after being down a year and accounting for the changes made adjust for safety.... still outstanding! Glad you are back!!!
Food is simply exceptional. Fresh, perfectly seasoned, presented well. Southern food at its best.
My fiancée and I had a great time at Georgia Brown’s. The food was good though pricey, and the atmosphere was really nice. We had a nice time just being out again during COVID and having a nice meal.
The price was somewhat high but very delicious. Our family was visiting DC for the first time and the experience was amazing. It did take a short time to be seated with a reservation but it is understandable given the restaurant was not operating at full capacity.
Had a great first experience here, food was great!!
Worst shrimp and grits I've ever had.
Food was great, it just seemed like there was a need for more servers to be working.
The food and the service was excellent. The staff was extremely welcoming and offered honest opinions when my wife and I asked questions about the menu.
Generally good southern style cuisine. Fried liver excellent
Loved the service as usual.
Everything was perfect. I’m looking forward to my next visit.
First time dining here for brunch. It was ok. Most of us were not impressed with the food. They had a lot of pork in their dishes. We were told that everything was made fresh, however, when asked to make shrimp and grits without pork (due to an allergy) we were told it’s pre-made so it cannot be done. Confused? So were we. It’s sub par and for the price, we expected better. Will not return.
We went to Georgia Brown’s for Sunday brunch. We knew going into it that they haven’t been open most of the pandemic so we put on some more patience since they just opened back up the week before. While we weren’t able to do the buffet as normal, they still offered unlimited plates and our waiter was very attentive in bringing our food and bottomless mimosas. Overall the food was good and we enjoyed our experience.
Food wasn’t anything to rave about.
I made arrangements for 7:30 pm and did not get seated until 7:50. Once we sat down they forgot about us for another 10-15 mins before finally providing us service. The gave us bread and water to start which the 1 or three cheddar rolls was burnt black. Rather than complaining we ordered our food to go since the long wait had started to with our date night plans. The food was good. As it was the time before that I went. But the service is ratchet to say the least. But support black business
As good as ever, met with better. Such a comfort to know Georgia Brown’s is still with us.
The service was not the best and the foods are not same before COVID-19. The foods used to be very well seasoned and favored. My salmon was dry and no favor at all. Our family used love come here for dinner but not sure it is worth a trip to come back or not.
i was disappointed with the amount of money i paid for the mediocre food. I ordered a drink that came in adirty wine glass. i asked for my lamd chops to be medium they came overcooked
Booked an outdoor table and was offered indoor dining during a pandemic—no precautions and tables crowded into each other inside and out. We departed after it was obvious no outdoor table would be available within 45 minutes of reservation.
We went to Georgia Browns for Easter Sunday and we were presented with the unlimited brunch menu. We quickly put in our first round of menu selections and 35 mins later we still did not receive our food or drink refills. We spoke with the tables surrounding us and they had been waiting 45+ minutes with no food or drink refills either. After asking twice I receive a few pieces or lettuce with barely any dressing (which was supposed to be the Caesar salad and a very small piece of undercooked salmon that was supposed to be the blackened salmon. This was my fiancé’s first time visiting GB’s and I wish this horrible experience wasn’t his first impression of such an iconic DC restaurant. We were extremely disappointed and unfortunately we don’t plan on visiting again.
They have been closed for the pandemic and has been truly missed. Management should really speak with workers regarding the fiasco that took place on Sunday. All systems in place were overwhelmed. A for effort but not much else.
The restaurant just opened for the first time since closing due to Covid 19. The food was fantastic. The orders seemed to backup later into the service. The crab Benedict was our favorite. Highly recommend
I have dined at Georgia Brown’s on many occasions, this last experience was very disappointing. I understand due to COVID-19 they can not provide the same Brunch Buffet practices, however their attempt to give the similar service failed. Starting with the time it takes to receive your food was at least 20 minutes if you received it at all. Second was the pricing, for the meal choices and portion sizes they consider to be shareable. Third, they have a mandatory 20% gratuities for terrible service. Lastly, they have removed the take home portion from their menu. Basically I paid $180 for a very disappointing experience. I never received some of the items I ordered to include the dessert platter, so I can’t give a true of the quality of the food.
Excellent Food! The Red Snapper is a must! Wish there were more dessert choices
It was our first time there and it was amazing! We both absolutely loved the food.
My Fiancee and I both had the fried chicken. The positive reviews are correct. Great food, staff, ambience, etc. Definately going back to try the Gumbo.
Restaurant is in a nice location. Ambiance is nice, but the food is very overpriced for what you get. Portions are small. Flavor is good. drinks are standard DC prices
I'm from the deep South and Georgia Brown's has been one of my go-to restaurants since I moved to this area over 20 years ago. Catch the brunch if you can. Last visit was for dinner. Fried green tomatoes, creamy grits, "devil" shrimp- all delicious. Tables were placed safely apart. Prices are reasonable by DC standards.
