Food is simply exceptional. Fresh, perfectly seasoned, presented well. Southern food at its best.
My fiancée and I had a great time at Georgia Brown’s. The food was good though pricey, and the atmosphere was really nice. We had a nice time just being out again during COVID and having a nice meal.
The price was somewhat high but very delicious. Our family was visiting DC for the first time and the experience was amazing. It did take a short time to be seated with a reservation but it is understandable given the restaurant was not operating at full capacity.
Had a great first experience here, food was great!!
Worst shrimp and grits I've ever had.
Food was great, it just seemed like there was a need for more servers to be working.
The food and the service was excellent. The staff was extremely welcoming and offered honest opinions when my wife and I asked questions about the menu.
Loved the service as usual.
Everything was perfect. I’m looking forward to my next visit.
First time dining here for brunch. It was ok. Most of us were not impressed with the food. They had a lot of pork in their dishes. We were told that everything was made fresh, however, when asked to make shrimp and grits without pork (due to an allergy) we were told it’s pre-made so it cannot be done. Confused? So were we. It’s sub par and for the price, we expected better. Will not return.
Food wasn’t anything to rave about.
I made arrangements for 7:30 pm and did not get seated until 7:50. Once we sat down they forgot about us for another 10-15 mins before finally providing us service. The gave us bread and water to start which the 1 or three cheddar rolls was burnt black. Rather than complaining we ordered our food to go since the long wait had started to with our date night plans. The food was good. As it was the time before that I went. But the service is ratchet to say the least. But support black business
As good as ever, met with better. Such a comfort to know Georgia Brown’s is still with us.
i was disappointed with the amount of money i paid for the mediocre food. I ordered a drink that came in adirty wine glass. i asked for my lamd chops to be medium they came overcooked
Booked an outdoor table and was offered indoor dining during a pandemic—no precautions and tables crowded into each other inside and out. We departed after it was obvious no outdoor table would be available within 45 minutes of reservation.
We went to Georgia Browns for Easter Sunday and we were presented with the unlimited brunch menu. We quickly put in our first round of menu selections and 35 mins later we still did not receive our food or drink refills. We spoke with the tables surrounding us and they had been waiting 45+ minutes with no food or drink refills either. After asking twice I receive a few pieces or lettuce with barely any dressing (which was supposed to be the Caesar salad and a very small piece of undercooked salmon that was supposed to be the blackened salmon. This was my fiancé’s first time visiting GB’s and I wish this horrible experience wasn’t his first impression of such an iconic DC restaurant. We were extremely disappointed and unfortunately we don’t plan on visiting again.
They have been closed for the pandemic and has been truly missed. Management should really speak with workers regarding the fiasco that took place on Sunday. All systems in place were overwhelmed. A for effort but not much else.
The restaurant just opened for the first time since closing due to Covid 19. The food was fantastic. The orders seemed to backup later into the service. The crab Benedict was our favorite. Highly recommend
I have dined at Georgia Brown’s on many occasions, this last experience was very disappointing. I understand due to COVID-19 they can not provide the same Brunch Buffet practices, however their attempt to give the similar service failed. Starting with the time it takes to receive your food was at least 20 minutes if you received it at all. Second was the pricing, for the meal choices and portion sizes they consider to be shareable. Third, they have a mandatory 20% gratuities for terrible service. Lastly, they have removed the take home portion from their menu. Basically I paid $180 for a very disappointing experience. I never received some of the items I ordered to include the dessert platter, so I can’t give a true of the quality of the food.
Excellent Food! The Red Snapper is a must! Wish there were more dessert choices
It was our first time there and it was amazing! We both absolutely loved the food.
My Fiancee and I both had the fried chicken. The positive reviews are correct. Great food, staff, ambience, etc. Definately going back to try the Gumbo.
I'm from the deep South and Georgia Brown's has been one of my go-to restaurants since I moved to this area over 20 years ago. Catch the brunch if you can. Last visit was for dinner. Fried green tomatoes, creamy grits, "devil" shrimp- all delicious. Tables were placed safely apart. Prices are reasonable by DC standards.
Restaurant is in a nice location. Ambiance is nice, but the food is very overpriced for what you get. Portions are small. Flavor is good. drinks are standard DC prices
Best brunch in D.C.! A real treat and recommended for special occasions.
The Sunday brunch is all you can eat and drink from a menu that has several choices. I haven't been to the restaurant in a few years and I was disappointed with the food. Andouille hash, blackened salmon & the eggs could have used more seasoning. Shrimp & grits, shrimp cocktail, French toast & the gumbo was mediocre. Peach bellini was great. $67 + tax + 20% gratuity makes the total increase quickly.
I had no idea when I booked this reservation that it was the first Sunday brunch since COVID. I have been here in the past for brunch but I knew there would be changes because of COVID and what I miss the most is not being able to take an entre home. However, the food was still very good and the portions were great. I also love the variety of food that was on the menu. The ambiance was peaceful but we sure did miss the jazz band. Service was amazing. The only issue I had was the price...it was a very expensive brunch and the prices have increased substantially. I wouldn't mind going back but it definitely needs to be a special occasion.
What a pleasure to be back at Georgia Brown's for brunch. Excellent selection, extraordinary shrimp & grits, amazing french toast. Served on small plates that were great for sharing. Ambience A+++, service lovely.
Umm wtf guys. You were closed after forcing me to confirm that I was coming twice, I showed up with my date only to have the restaurant closed. It was very upsetting and embarrassing. I was very much looking forward to celebrating the 245th Marines’ birthday at GB with my date.
Closed. No notice. Drove 1 hour, parked for $30. Closed. No notice. No phone call. Closed. No notice. No phone call. Closed. No notice. No phone call. Closed. No notice. No phone call. Closed. When we showed up at Georgia Brown’s, we found it boarded up, dark, and closed. This left us scrambling to find another option at 8:30 pm on a Friday. Georgia Brown’s is very good - my irritation is with OpenTable, which urged us to book ASAP because “there are only 9 timeslots left!” and made us choose outdoor v indoor dining to complete this reservation at a boarded up, dark, and closed establishment. Please do a better job.
The entire experience was legitimately exceptional. I will surely be back for future occasions.
When I arrived at Georgia Brown. I was escorted to the table and the server came right over telling me about the menu. Then the entree came out in a good amount of time. The meal was seasoned well so I pleased. I will return again and again.
They were closed. We stood in rain hoping they would open
I u like kicked up southern dishes...this the place!
Great experience- will definitely be back
Excellent service and wonderful food! And we were able to dine outdoors!
We came in expecting the breakfast buffet and didn’t realize that wasn’t an option until we sat down. Therefore, we were had to adjust our expectations. It would’ve been nice if we were made aware of the changes to the menu prior to being seated. Overall the experience was ok - we’ve been here before and had a much better experience.
We had a great time celebrating my mom's birthday at Georgia Brown's. Everyone was pleased with their brunch selections and the service was great.
It was more than expected, great music , fast food service, Johnathan knew his menu , food was amazing , I can not WAIT to go back
