Need to book at 10:00 AM?Other great restaurants with availability.
The food was excellent. Music was great...Just didn’t like our seating arrangement. Tables too small and a little too tight to get around.
The food was awful (Sunday Jazz Brunch). I was raised by a southern cook. The food was far from traditional southern cuisine. The food was just not worth it. The desserts were bad too. The peach cobbler is just canned peached with crumbled pastry on top. Stick with the omelet bar if you just have to go. It was the only thing we could finish. My husband and I were truly disappointed.
Was seated immediately and greeted by waitstaff very fast. The waiter was very friendly and attentive. The food arrived in a decent time and it was hot. However, the food (chicken breast, mashed potatoes, and collards) lacked any type of seasoning—it was just bland. My guest had the gumbo which he said was very good. Price was expensive considering the quality and portion of food. I may go back once more to give them another chance
Long wait for food to be brought to table. The lamb was small, dry and non flavorful. The basket of bread was cold as well.
It was valentines and we were surprised to know it was a set menu. I didn't see that prior to making our reservations. When we arrived the hosts greeted us with open arms. After being shown to our table. We waited for 30-45mins before any waiter came to bring us water. When asked about our waiter we were told ”Mario” was on his way with bread. The waiter kept looking over us and taking care of guest we came in way after us. We had to flag Mario to get his attention and he still act like we were invisible. He forget what we ordered etc. We continue to ask other waiters for help because Mario wasn't doing his job. We asked Mario if I could substitute something because I as vegan and he flat out said no! (it's 70 per person ) after 20mins a manager ask if we were doing ok, I said no and explained why. He said ”let me talk to the cook to see of he can make a black-eyed cake” .. 15mins later it was at the table. My wife’s mash potatoes were cold. It was our first time visiting Georgia Brown’s and it will be our last.
Went for Valentine’s Day, this was a 80 dollar per person prefix menu, rather expensive but I didn’t mind as I was told this restaurant was amazing. Reservation was for 845, wasn’t seated until 910. Attempted to order the surf n turf only to be told that they no longer had this option available...mind you the restaurant closes at 11pm. Not sure how the logistics for food was calculated for such a big day as Valentine’s Day but to have a prefix menu and run out of primary food choices 2 hours before closing, is bad. Had to choose an option I’m not particularly partial too, and did not enjoy it. Overall, horrible experience.
Food significantly over priced with underwhelming flavors. Only had 1 vegetarian option.
We waiting to get drink 45min and what I pick for the menu don’t have (only have special menu for Valentine’s Day)
The service is so bad I’m not going back ..
1:20 min I there and I not get food !
Wonderful ambiance and service. Valentine's Day menu prices slightly inflated, would've preferred regular menu; however food was delicious.
paper on top of cloth tab Eminem. Replaced dirty cutlery on table after appetizers. Server did not discuss children a option
Baited and switched on price. Meal should have been $24pp ended up being $70pp without advance notice. The food wasn’t worth $24pp. This was fraud. Needless to say we won’t be going back.
Great meal, great ambiance, great drinks! Highly recommend!
A great way to start Southern Comfort aka Happy Hour & finish with dinner listening to live Jazz.
It’s our favorite place to go when our co-workers/friends are in town
Georgia Brown's is a great place for a business lunch or a special meal with friends. The food is always good, although they were missing a few basic items yesterday, tea bags, for example. The dining room was a little cold, but the food was wonderful. I ordered salmon, which was perfectly prepared and seasoned.
Service was superior. Food was out of this world! Still salivating just thinking about it! Our waitress was friendly, knowledgeable, and felt like an old friend. Do yourself a favor and go!
We had a 1:30 pm reservation for a party of 3. Checked in with the hostess right at 1:30 pm who told us there would be a slight wait - however, we were not seated until 2:10 pm. However, once seated, we enjoyed the buffet and got our entree selections to go. The waiter informed that the hostess ended up taking our drinks (we had two cocktails and a soda) off of our bill because of our patience while waiting. So overall a good experience.
Great time enjoy the brunch variety and the jazz music
Great ambiance with band during Sunday brunch. Service was great. I wasn’t impressed with the “soul food”; taste and variety were mediocre, especially for a $50 brunch meal.
Inconsiderate service and had better food at cafeteria!
Great food, great service. On my ‘have to visit’ list every time I am in D.C.
Many things were not available due to the grill being broken. Consequently, the vent fans were not running causing the dining room to be extremely hot and smokey. Also, after asking for our check, we waited for 40 minutes to get it.
Amazing ambiance and environment.
great food...comfort food...and fantastic service!
Wonderful service, tasty food, excellent drinks—that peach martini!!—great atmosphere. On a quick visit from Chicago and was able to get in and out with an extremely satisfying experience. My husband even changed his fish order at the last minute bc of a taste preference with absolutely no problem at all. Love it!! Will definitely return.
Outstanding pleasant service. Quality food.
My family attending for Sunday Brunch. I hadn't been to Georgia Browns in a few years. The food was basically the same, however, they changed the food stations a bit. I didn't find the stations with the same variety that I had gotten accustomed to in the past. We had an issue with the cold air as we were forced to sit near the front of the door and could not be changed, without a long wait, because we had a party of 6. Overall, I felt that the restaurant was overpriced at $45 per person...even with the take home bag. I must admit, however, the jazz band and the vocalist were outstanding!
I make it a point to visit Georgia Brown's everytime I come into DC, and everytime I am pretty pleased. I was a bit disappointed this visit. I do usually sit in the bar area for Sunday Brunch where it is not so crowded, I brought a special guest with me this visit so we sat in the dinning area. Unfortunately not a good move for me. I was not please with the 2-person seating its like the table are on top of each other the service attendants can not get between tables very disrupted when they are trying to tend to their tables. Same when patrons are trying to be seated. Overall I was disappointed.
I think this is my last visit to GBs. It was enjoyable while it lasted.
It was great
Had a lovely dinner birthday celebration. Our sever was terrific and friendly. The food was delicious and we had a wonderful time.
All service and staff were wonderful from the moment we walked in... to the bar... to the table service. All outstanding! Food was amazing. There was 9 on us and each meal was delicious! We will return! I highly suggest Georgia Browns!
Glad they have vegan options. Very impressed and great tasting food.
Our server was very knowledgeable, professional and friendly. He answered all questions and even cut the cake we bought in from an outside bakery.
Georgia Brown's is usually a good place to dine. Although the food was tasty, everything cold from appetizers to entrees was delivered to our table cold. The sorbet we ordered for dessert was actually melting by the time it reached our table. It also took an incredibly long time to receive our courses. I think the waitress was servicing too many tables.
Around the corner from my job.. live the food and environment. Very friendly staff. :)
The corn bread was cold and hard. I am hone to FB’s many times snd the food is not what it was.
Excellent restaurant.....Not a "soul food" restaurant. Very good food!
Very disappointed in food and service. We come every year for business. This will no longer be on my list of favorites.
This has been a go-to for us for over a decade for all family celebrations. We were a bit disappointed with our last visit, though. We were seated without menus. When our server asked if we wanted anything to drink besides water, we asked if we could see a menu. We, the six of us, were brought, just that - A, one single, menu. The menu is no longer a full-sized, menu describing the buffet, entrees, and beverages - it's now a sheet that's roughly 8"x3", with cocktails on one side, the entrees that most people take home on the other. The server dropped the menu in front of my husband and disappeared. There was no explanation about the buffet, the entrees, the bottomless mimosas or bloody marys, nothing. When he hadn't returned after ten minutes, I took everyone's drink orders and told everyone to go ahead and visit the buffet. I was finally able to flag the server down and give him the order before heading up to the buffet myself.
The food options seem to be dwindling. We were also disappointed that there was no manned carving station, as we had enjoyed in the past, but overcooked slabs of beef and very dry turkey breast in chafing dishes. The grits were undercooked and dry - not the rich and creamy grits I had always looked forward to.
The 'server' seemed to be more of a busser - he never checked on the quality of our food but rather, was one of many that took dirty plates away from our table. He did exchange my bloody mary for me (WAY too spicy for my taste) for a VERY LARGE mimosa and was pleasant enough in the few exchanges we had. I just had the feeling that they've gone from trained servers to using bussers for all serving functions.
We love the live music here and the kids love the food offerings. I hope that this visit was not indicative of cost-cutting measures that will further decline our experience - or we'll have to look for a new celebration location.
