The service was exceptional. The food was great. The cocktails were tasty.
The service was beyond poor, and the food was not good. Restaurant was also not clean.
I'm not sure how to review Georgia Browns. I last visited maybe 6-7 years ago and it was a beautiful establishment-posh, fun, and with good food. My mom has talked about returning here for years....well we got our chance this week and we were both gravely disappointed. It started off with the hostess staff. They seemed confused at their own seating chart, reservation list, etc. The two women hosting seemed frazzled and confused by their own list. At first it was just my group and one more. So I'm not sure why they were getting overwhelmed. Maybe they were just filling in for the regular hostess. I remember the hostess being poised, confident, professional, and polite. Greeting customers eloquently even though there was a 1 hour wait! But, alas...this is not THAT anymore. The ambiance is no longer posh. In fact, there were rips in our seat and the walls and such were heavily scratched up. Then there is the food.....I remember in the past there being an omelet station, food in abundance, etc. This time, it reminded of a dinner being held in a church fellowship hall, complete with the old mop smell. The "waffle" station was the same waffle set up you find at the free breakfast station at mid range hotels. The person "manning" the station was talking to his buddy the entire time. You had to ask for a waffle. We didnt know they were serving waffles because our server didn't tell us and there was no signage. But if you go, I think you have to go up to the kitchen window to tell a guy. I dont know for sure though-I just know that when we were leaving, I saw one person with an omelet on their plate. The display table with the food just looked like an amateur set it up. The food display didnt not look appetizing or fresh. We got there at 11 and the food was cold or lukewarm. The only positive was the live band. I guess you should come here if you cant get live music anywhere else. Anyway, we won't be back unless they remodel, upgrade the food and hospitality. Sorry.
Order the catfish! It’s delicious!
The space was wonderful for hanging out with friends. It was a little expensive for the meal but the experience was lovely.
We just went for drinks and dessert. The waiter was awesome. I had an interesting drink and the dessert was awesome. Great atmosphere, we will stop by again when we are in the area
A little disappointing. Not terribly, but a little. Nothing really special. The fried chicken was dry, and the mashed potatoes were tasteless.
Great food wish we had room for dessert. Want to try their brunch one day.
Food portions were huge! Enough for two people to share. Food was excellent and very flavorful. Enjoyed the entire experience and will be back.
The food wasn’t as tasty this trip as it had been doing my past dining experiences at the restaurant
Excellent. And gathered was jazz
I thought it would have been apart of the restaurant week
that is why I chose it to go to
it wasn't, but we had a good experience.......
Great food and service from Emily. It was Jazz night, so that added to the ambiance. One member of our four-person party has food sensitivities (Gluten). She had several great options, although you did not seem to have the gluten-free menu referenced on the website. In summary, our experience was excellent from the greeting at the front door through dessert!
Service and food were outstanding. Our mistake was being seated too close to the Jazz band, making it very hard to hear each other. Music was excellent, just too loud for that part of the dining room.
I love Georgia Brown’s but the service was rushed and the restaurant was incredibly loud add to that the music was so loud it seemed like a night club.
Food was tasty and best of all I had a nice time but I will think twice before going back.
The service was excellent. Nice atmosphere.
Never had a bad meal in 20 years. Food is great. Staff is wonderful!
Great value with a great selection of food to choose from on the brunch buffet. I also liked that you got to take a meal home. The noise level was a little high, which made conversation a little difficult. But it was overall a nice experience.
I recommend Georgia Brown's and their Sunday Jazz Brunch. The food ad the music is great, and they send you home with another meal on top of what devour at brunch. Great value!
The food was excellent . The server could be more attention and provided better service . We never were asked or got our water refilled.
Better than I remembered from previous visit
Really wonderful southern cuisine
Old tired and unresponsive
The shrimp and lobster bisque was terrible. The short rib stew entre' was good. The bisque ruined the meal for me.
The variety and quality were excellent.
I really like going to this place because of the jazz band. The last time I was here the lady singer was really good. This time I was there for like an hour and a half , the band played only 2 songs and not very good. I was disappointed because I always look forward to a good music, one reason I like having brunch at this place. The food was great and our server was very nice.
The food at Georgia Brown is great. My boyfriend and I went for New Years Eve and had a good time.
The food was good however; i was expecting more in the area of flavors and foodie excitement.
I ordered the 4-course NYE dinner. The appetizer (shrimp and grits) excellent! The main entree (surf & turf) bland, roasted potato pairing was not a good choice.
Hostess walked us through the restaurant to our table found it was not ready and then told us to go back to the bar in a way that made me feel i was being scolded. Maybe she forgot we were the customer and not members of the restaurant staff.
Table service was slow. At times we thought they forgot about us. My wife’s entree arrived 15-minutes after mine.
Went there for our 2nd New Years dinner... my $40 steak was cold, they served me the wrong and argued that they brought what I ordered until mailer d checked and it was their mistake, wife’s main course was uninspiring and salty, other couples main courses where also warmed to where gravy compiled,... on and on... will not be going back there
We love the feel and decor. The service was outstanding and the food was the best southern cuisine outside of Charleston.
I have celiac disease, which usually makes dinning out a game of Russian Roulette. But I felt completely at ease at Georgia Browns. From the wait staff to the bartender, they understood what was safe for me to eat, and what wasn't. Additionally, both the food and the overall experience was amazing. I can't wait to go back for Wednesday Night Jazz.
Accommodated my allergy without making it an ordeal and without flavorless food. Dessert was amazing!
Food spicy but good!
Sunday Brunch quality has gone down. Value is poor compared to what it used to be. They have cheapened the take home meal by lessened variety and smaller portions. Bloody Mary was so spicy that We couldn’t drink it. We ordered three. Terrible The eat in buffet was pretty good.
Great fried chicken
Buffet is less than spectacular in execution.
But fun environment & good place to hang out for “jazz” brunch on a Sunday
Glad we came. Love the jazz band. Waffles were excellent and the best we have ever had. We probably didn’t eat $45 worth but glad we came. They offer an entree to go included but we didn’t take advantage as we were staying in a hotel. Definitely a treat.
I was disappointed with the buffet selection and service. The meats were lukewarm, and there were no serving utensils in several dishes. I will not return for the brunch for the price point of $45 without any drinks.
I would recommend the food and selections Best fried green tomatoes we have ever tasted.
The service was very slow, unattentive to detail.
Our orders were delivered incorrectly.
We had to ask for water and tea refills.
We thought perhaps our server was new, however other patrons having same issues as we were.
A manager did not stop by our table to check on us even though patrons next to us had complained.
Great restaurant for a family meal. My second time there. Excellent food. Bourbon pecan pie with ice cream was a great dessert to end with.
Georgia Brown’s food is delicious but the courteous and professional service is TOPs!
We had brunch on Saturday, December 28, 2019, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Our server was amazing! She did not rush us as two of us had ordered Bottomless Mimosas. Our server was attentive, fun, and professional. Our food was delicious, and we had fun trying each other's dishes. Always a good experience!
My excitement and remembrance of a wonderful dining experience at Georgia Brown was crushed when we dined there last week. It was a warm night (most unusual for a Friday night in December) so our group of 11 gathered outside before entering the restaurant. Old Ebbits was booked and renovating, we chose Georgia for our guests taste of DC.
Error #1 - the hostess led us to two tables of six. At our request, she had the tables pushed together. Error #2 - since we were seated on a curved wall, the tables would not meet. Error #3 - the heat was up so high we immediately started to perspire. It took at least 30 minutes to get the temperature down and by the end of our meal for our body temps to recover. Now for the food, the crab soup special was mostly thick roux and lacked flavor. The colossal shrimp were served without sauce (requested). The rest of the dishes were mediocre at best. No raves from this former diner. I do not recommend bringing guests to this establishment until you’ve tested it first.
Our waitress was accommodating and so was the manager. He did everything to appease our discomfort. The kitchen must improve.
