George's Greek Cafe - Belmont Shore Ratings and Reviews
We came Wednesday night for My mom in laws bday. Our server tino was very attentive. He always makes sure we're okay. Food was great. Parking was easy (across the street) metered. The host was courteous and the staffs were friendly. I think we just found our go to spot! We'll be back very soon. I don't usually recommend anything but i am Telling all my friends, Coworkers & families.
We made a reservation for 7pm on a weeknight. Although we had a reservation, we were asked to wait while their staff caught up. We were there for a birthday and were seated in the very very back by the bathrooms and staff entrance. The bus boy was in an out 100 times...which got annoying throughout the meal. It was probably the worst place to sit in the entire restaurant. They were obviously very short staffed for the evening, but the staff was really friendly and helpful when they were there. The food was all really good. We especially liked the spicy feta dip, lamb chops, and gyro felafal. I would definitly give this restaurant another shot because the food was really good and just ask for a better table.
My wife and I took a client and his wife to George's last week and we all had an amazing time. Heather, who I believe is the manager, and our server (sorry I forget her name) took excellent care of us. The food was excellent as well and I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. Be sure to try the avgolemeno soup; one of the best I've had. Look forward to returning.
George's is one of those local eateries that locals love and frequent. The food was great, the lamb chops and kebabs were cooked just right and priced very well. The Moussaka was done just right and just a little spicy :) I would recommend this anyone great food great time!
George's is consistently good. It's not fancy, just a neighborhood place with plastic tablecloths, but the lamb chops are to die for. If you like them cooked medium or medium rare, order them rare because they are kind of thin and are often overcooked if you don't order them rare. The marinade on them is truly exceptional and the wine list is very reasonably priced. The house Cab is pretty tasty and we are picky about our wines. Service is friendly and accommodating.
I took my girlfriend here for our anniversary and what a great place to take your special person. Such a happy staff from the moment you get there until the time you leave. We really enjoyed our experience and would suggest to everyone to check out this place. You definitely have to go on a Friday night to get the special.
We met some friends at George's and arrived before them. We were greeted by a super friendly hostess and then shown our seat. After stating what wine we wanted, the server started to up-sell us on more expensive bottles of wine. We said no thank you. When our friends arrived, we ordered an app (the calamari), to which the waitress repeated back that we wanted the combo app. We said no, calamari and hummus. She brought the calamari, hummus and combo app. When my fiancé went to order his meal, she kept trying to get him to add more to his order. After we finished, we said we wanted the check, but she insisted on showing us dessert. We had to wait 15 more minutes for her to present dessert that we said we didn't want and just wanted the check. The upside was the food was amazing and atmosphere was really nice. We'd go again if we weren't harassed into spending more on things we don't want.
Very tasty food and the staff very friendly. Our server was very helpful explaining the menu. Loved their $5 cocktail specials - a nice way to start the meal. We tried the wine/orange juice special - much like a sangria. We were a party of 5 and picked the family menu where we got to share a number of dishes which included appetizers like "flaming cheese", salad, gyro meat, chicken kabobs and the famous lamb chops. Do not miss the chops! The delicious baklava at the end of the meal was a nice ending to a great meal.
If you are looking for a quiet evening, this is not the place to go. Lots of celebrations and larger groups on a Saturday night.
George's is always a fun thing to do with our family. We enjoy the whole experience and the availability of both inside and limited outside seating. The owner is always friendly and interacts with the diners on a regular basis. Highly recommended for a great meal.
Overall I was not impressed with the food. The best thing I had was the two dips with hummus and Tzaki (not correct spelling sorry). That was very good. I had what was supposed to be a skirt steak. It was nothing like a skirt steak that I expected but more like an average, run of the mill , tough, and flavorless new sirloin of some kind. Very disappointing. Mostly what was more disappointing than anything was the Greek salad. It was flavorless and blah! I'm going to stick to Rosines in Anaheim Hills. That is the best Greek food I've found in So Cal. This was disappointing!
This was my first visit and it certainly won't be the last. The service was attentive but not overbearing. The food was great. We started with some of the dips which were really good, especially the eggplant. They are known for lamb chops which were fabulous. Cooked and seasoned perfectly and they melted in my mouth. They cook their rice in chicken stock which made it realy flavorful. Dimitri, the owner came by to check on everything and afer our meal, sat down had a drink and chatted with us for awhile. It really was a great evening and I can't wait to go back and try other items.
The food is wonderful, portion sizes good, delivered quickly. On our 2nd time here, once again the pastitso with grilled veggies & rice and avgolemeno soup with greek salad were all fresh and satisfying. Sadly, this visit wasn't as pleasant as our last due to where we were seated. On our OpenTable reservation, we requested a table where we could sit side by side, not opposite each other. When reminded of this when we arrived, the host said, "No problem," yet the seater took us to a 2-top table where we'd have to sit opposite each other. When we asked again, he walked us past a 4-top to a small table in the back, where we were endlessly passed by bussers with crates of glasses and trash and heard tons of kitchen chatter our whole meal. :(
This is a fun place. Lot's of energy. The food is solid. I had the stuffed steak and it was done perfectly. My fellow diners had more traditional Greek fare and were very pleased. Portions are large. Had the house red...not great, but a good table wine for a relaxed evening. Service was great and the waitress was full of personality. We had a great time...Opa!
We really enjoyed our dinner. The waitress and waiters were great. I would recommend it to everyone. They have a large selection to choose from so there is definately something for everyone. Good portions and everything was fresh and hot. We will be returning soon in the near future, as we love good Greek food.
George's Greek Cafe is a great place for some quality Greek food at a reasonable price. The atmosphere can be quite hectic at times (everyone yells opah every time they serve the saganaki appetizer), but the service is very friendly and they treat you like family there. I would definitely recommend their lamb chops, which were flavorful and tender.
Celebrated my Masters Degree graduation with 15 family/friends. The services was impeccable and the food WOW...delish.. we enjoyed their family style meals and refills kept coming. We had a wonderful time and plan on having my birthday party their next year.
The service and food were great; the portion size was large such that everyone except my husband brought home extras. The only drawback, and this wasn't the restaurant's fault, was that a car parked right outside had it's horn going off repeatedly. I think, however, when dining at a location that opens up to the outside, that is always a risk.
