Georges Brasserie Ratings and Reviews
Went for the price fixed brunch. It was very nice. The food was good, fresh seafood was terrific, carving prime rib was tough, omelet made to order was super. You can order things from the kitchen..eggs Benedict, crepes Suzette, etc...came out cold. Requested salt and pepper from the wait staff and had to request it 3 times so that my omelet was cold by the time I got it. All in all it was ok and I would return.
We came for restaurant week and we were a bit disappointed. Our server was very nice. We started with the lump crap dip and the potato chips that it was served with very well done and the dip was very salty. I had the mussels and there was literally 1mm of broth in the bowl. Usually when you eat mussels you run each mussel through the broth and dip your bread in it but you couldn't do that and since there was no broth they got very cold quickly. I had the short rib dinner and the ribs were excellent but the rissoto was extremely dry and very crunchy still. My husband had the stew and he enjoyed it. The desserts were fine.
Four of us went during restaurant week at 6pm. It was not crowded at all during that time. Appetizers of mussels and oysters were outstanding. Entrees of chicken and pork tenderloin were very good. However, the two short rib entrees were so salty that it was hardly edible. The risotto accompaniment had crunchy rice within the dish. Desserts were excellent. It seems that management should have at least come to the table to inquire about the two salty dishes after server was informed.
Georges Sunday brunch met by birthday expectations. A 1st timer, I loved the menu, a nice New Orleans faire and for this Louisiana girl-that's saying something. I really enjoyed the small plates one could order (Crepe Suzette/ Shrimp n Grits/Beignets) Service was excellent. The only negative-a very cold Sunday and our table was in the direct path of the front door so need I say it was chilly, I expressed this to our waitress and an open table was available to move. I'll definitely be back to enjoy one of Charlotte's best places for Sunday brunch.
Our waiter started great but during the meal he be less attentive of our table,at one point skipping us and serving the guests on both sides. The food was excellent although the prime rib was a little over done. I'll be going back but will make sure I get a different waiter.
The music is incredibly loud and I could not wait to get out of there. It's ear splitting even in the powder room. We asked the waiters to turn it down, but we couldn't tell that they actually did so. The food was delicious, the menu had many wonderful choices, and the service was great, but unfortunately we will not go back again because of the decibel level of the music.
The restaurant seemed extremely understaffed during brunch today. The service was very poor. Mac and Cheese was ice cold and many of the chafing dishes were empty with a delay in replenishing. Disappointed as we have had great experiences in the past.
Food was excellent unfortunately I think they overbooked for New Year’s Eve which made for service issues. I did not get my drink for almost 3 out of 4 courses and had to remind the server several times. Also the timing between courses was all over the place, plates were never removed and would sit there for 15-20 minutes and then we were scrambling to push them aside when the next course was brought out. Just expect a higher level of detail in service from a fine dining restaurant.
It seemed they were short staffed. Our server didn’t introduce himself just filled our water glasses. It took over 20 minutes to get the hot tea we ordered and another 20 minutes to get my second mimosa. I wasn’t charged for the second mimosa but it was obvious we were the table forgotten.....
A little odd experience...restaurant was empty but for 2 tables and a backroom for a party. Still took us a solid 5 minutes to have a host sit us, after my husband went to look for them. Took another 40 minutes to get our lunches (including 2 kids meals). Waitress was fine. Just odd experience.
We went for Christmas Eve with a reservation. We waited over an hour to be seated. This created a stressful dining experience though we were understanding because it was Christmas Eve. It was obvious that they were overbooked and not prepared for the crowd.
For Christmas Eve, we were seated 50 minutes late after confirmed reservation and told sorry we just got busy.
Our server was overbooked and we had long stretches of time with no interaction.
We ordered the NY Strip Steak for our main entree and asked they be prepared medium to medium raw. When they came out they were very well done and relatively lousy.
No one asked us about our meal for over 30 minutes. We spent about $150 for a bad Christmas Eve dinner.
Recommend do not go during a holiday season go another time.
