Georges Brasserie Ratings and Reviews
Georges is one of our favorite restaurants, but our service was poor. There was only one other table in the restaurant. The valet told us there was a private party there. It took a very, very long time to get our food. The trout was delicious. The chicken was a very small portion. I think the poor service was a kitchen issue not the servers.
We went for Thanksgiving dinner which was a buffet. They had 2 carving stations, one for beef and the other for turkey. The beef carving station had no piece of beef from which to carve -- there were two lonely pieces of beef sitting there. The turkey carving station had a lonesome small turkey leg from which they were cutting meat. No white meat. This was at 3PM in the afternoon, so it isn't as if we came at closing. On the bright side, the peel and eat shrimp were fantastic. Overall, we were both disappointed because the bill was over $100 (one glass of wine and one cocktail). I expected more.
Our dinner at Georges was fantastic! The service was wonderful. All of the servers and staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was also wonderful. The Onion Soup was so good. We also had the Pork Chop off the menu which was wonderful. The polenta, Brussels, pork, and Apple jus are the perfect combination. And the fried egg on top just made it that much better! My husband had the Filet and Frites and also loved it. I wish we had room for dessert! The atmosphere is very nice, beautiful and quaint. The bar area looked very nice as well. We will be back again soon!
The main course was wonderful. It took a long time to get our drinks through out the night and we were really dispointed with the desserts, the creme burlee was not that great, there was no crunch to the suger topping that should be the crunch of the whole dessert and menu stated with fresh berries, there was one strawberry on it. The desserts should be the" piece of resistance" at the end of meal. Espresso machine was not working either. It had its good points and a disappointing factor as well. The staff was friendly
For the first time in years and years my visit was a disappointment. I had listed it was my birthday but not a word was said to me. I always loved their escargot but this time it was very sweet with very little garlic. Not very good. New chef? The waiter respectfully did his job. Period. Not even a goodbye.
Georges Brassiere is outstanding. Food excellent, wait staff has that flovor of France and days gone by. Knowledgeable about the menu, food and is not overbearing like some restaurants. The waiter is attentive but not intrusive. The atmosphere is very upscale French but comfortable. We had a delightful evening with friends while enjoying a delicious dinner. We will be back!
I had made a mistake on the reservation for the wrong night, and didn’t realize it. They understood our party of 6 was from out of town and it was for my wife’s birthday and accommodated us anyway. The meal, service, everything was fantastic. Would highly recommend this restaurant!
Excellent food and service from friendly server and the GEM of an owner. My husband and I had to postpone our reservation to 9 because his flight was late, AND we had a new puppy with us. They graciously accommodated us on the lovely patio, brought water to the dog, and assured us not to rush (they close at 10.) We like tasting a variety of things, so we didn't order entrees. We had a dozen oysters, mixed variety with all the accompaniments. Very fresh, but they could have been cut from their shells more completely. We also had Shecrab soup (rich and delicious, highly recommend), beet salad (divine) and wedge salad (very good; loved the "gently" sun dried tomatoes), and the Thai preparation of the mussels. Great quality mussels, none broken or unopened in delicious broth. They have a great scotch and port menu too. Great, great restaurant with wonderful staff.
I was very pleased with this choice of restaurant. The food was excellent and tastefully (pun not intended) served. I had the scallops dish. The noise level was low which I like because of my hearing, although it wasn't busy on Sunday evening.
Looking forward to returning.
I've been to this restaurant several times in the past, and I noticed that the entree menu changed...and not for the better. We were both very disappointed with our main entrees, both of which did NOT come with any carbohydrates (no potatoes, rice, etc.)...just the meat/fish and veggies. The flavor was OK, but not great by any means. We've had better at half the price at other restaurants. The dessert was good, but not great. We had Creme Brûlée, which was fairly basic with just 2-3 tiny slices of Strawberry (whereas other restaurants serve it up w/ more Berries). The best part of our meal was the appetizer...Fried Calamari was excellent. I also liked the cool music they played, which greatly added to the beautiful ambiance. Another disappointment? I asked for a nice, "central" seating area (away from the bathroom and kitchen) in my reservations, but when we arrived, the hostess led us to the very back of the restaurant, stuck between several tables (terrible seating!), so that I had to insist on reseating us at a nicer booth table in the "central" area of the restaurant. This is always a pet peeve. I do not understand why hostesses think back of the restaurant (with minimal ambiance) is considered good seating (??). The waiter was nice and cordial, but the service was quite slow despite the small number of guests throughout the evening. I may return to try lunch or brunch, but I don't think I'll be coming back for dinner.
My husband and I relocated here from Midwest 3 years ago. Last year we went to restaurant for price fixed oyster buffet All You Can Eat plus wine pairings. It was fantastic . We came back to the rest aunt many times now, mostly Sunday Brunch which is delicious and a fabulous value. We returned on Saturday for our 2nd All You Can Eat Oyster dinner with wine. This time we had table service. Everything was very delicious especially fried oysters. T
George's Brassiere is our favorite restaurant in Charlotte!
My wife and I had a wonderful meal at Georges Brasserie. Our waiter, Brandon, was polite and professional yet friendly and helpful. Every staff member we encountered seemed to be sincerely interested in insuring that the guests were having an enjoyable time. The food was superb! My wife had scallops and I had the duck - both were excellent. The presentation, the flavors, and the serving size where wonderful. This was our first visit to Georges and wWe will definitely be returning.
I dined at Georges Brasserie for the first and only time recently for brunch. I read the menu online and it sounded good but in actuality it was just okay. I ordered an omelet which spinach, sautéed spinach was used which had too much liquid that should have been drained better prior to use other than that it was okay. I had prime rib well-done but there was some confusion about ordering it which was cleared up after 10-15 minutes. When I received the prime rib, it was too fatty and I had to do a lot of cutting to get to the meat. The meat was tender but needed more seasoning.
The buffet had desserts but they were not as good as I expected they would be such as the coconut macaroons and bread pudding. The flavors were not well developed so the taste fell flat; I could not bring myself to touch another dessert. The bacon was plentiful and good. I love salad and had a Caesar salad that was drenched with dressing and the leaves were wilted and the croutons were awful. Mussels and steam shrimp was offered, they would have been great with a little seasoning without it they were bland.
In addition to the buffet, a few tapas (small) plates were available to order. I ordered beignets and received three miniature ones served with a fruit compote which were okay. The restaurants uses multiple servers per table. Later, I ordered more beignets from a different served and was told as a small plate only one beignet is placed on the plate but how many do I want. I looked at him for a moment and had to hold my tongue because clearly he does not understand the meaning of tapas. I simply responded three beignets is fine. When I received the order, it was worse than the first. It was drained of color and oily. I lost my appetite and asked for the check.
The terrace and restroom were the highlight of dining at Georges Brasserie. The $30.00 I paid for brunch was not worth the time, energy and gas it took to get there.
The food was okay but there was a significant delay in the kitchen. The waiter was nice about it but it just took way too long and for a hundred dollar tab for two, that just shouldn't happen. I can't say that It was typical, hopefully it is.
Food was good but not super memorable.
