Had a fantastic Sunday brunch! Great food at a great value! When I’m back in town I will definitely go again.
It was a good location for a meal with 6 friends. Most of our meals were good, red snapper was overcooked and mushy. Main complaint was the booming disco music track. All we needed was s mirror ball. Crazy that they’ve gone to lengths to look like a French bistro, but then play disco music. Management should be a little smarter about carrying out their theme and executing in their niche.
George's does not disappoint. Good food, knowledgeable staff and excellent service, makes George's an excellent choice for either brunch or dinner.
Really enjoyed the lobster roll yesterday. Great value for the pride. The music was too loud and hard to hear the conversation. When we asked the waiter to turn it down, he acknowledged us but the music did not go any lower. A small detail. Otherwise, great place. Wonderful menu and good choice for multiple purposes.
Sunday brunch was excellent. Good selection of proteins, sides, and desserts. Prime rib carving station is great. Raw bar is my favorite: oysters, shrimp, it’s all good.
Dining for 2 on a Thu evening @ 7pm. Restaurant was quiet with only 4-5 other occupied tables. We had reservations, but could have easily walked in. Seating was prompt and service courteous and attentive. Dinner menu here is simple and occupies only 1 side of the 2 sided menu with wine list on opposing page. There were enough choices to please most with selections from meats to fish to vegetarian. We selected the Calamari app and Salmon Nicoise and Duck breast for entrees. Food was well prepared and met our specific doneness requests. Having been here before during restaurant week, the feel of a random week night was quite different as this place like many others can swell with patrons and give a much different vibe and dining results. On this night, however, everything was as expected and dining experience was pleasant. We did not stay for desserts as the selections did not beckon us over the call of Amelie's a mile up the street... An appetizer and 2 entrees with water as drinks came in at @ $65 before tip. This restaurant is well established in the SouthPark area and a must try for anyone looking for a reasonably upscale experience.
In the past we’ve had good experiences at George’s but not on this particular visit. We went for Sunday brunch and both got sick from the food. On special order the wrong dish was brought to the table and it took an additional 25 minutes to get the correct dish. Also, our server was not attentive. There probably won’t be another visit in our near future.
In each of 5 different meals, food was excellent. Wait staff and manager were friendly and attentive. They were out of an appetizer we requested and gave us another one on the house. Restaurant is dimly lit with a lot of leather; very masculine old-school atmosphere. Not my taste, but food and service were so good that we will be back.
Always love dining at George’s!
The onion soup is a must! And I would recommend the Salad Nicoise which was terrific.
Fabulous brunch, highly recommend.
This review is for brunch only. The buffet may be the best in Charlotte. They have multiple healthy options - salmon, salads, fruit - as well as a full dessert buffet. Separate, fresh hot orders are available such as Eggs Benedict or Beignets, included in buffet pricing (these items just don't sit well on the buffet). Bloody Mary bar is fantastic. Crispy bacon.
Fun brunch environment!
Great brunch. Love the buffet with shellfish, salads, carving station, breakfast, eggs, dessert. Plus the ordered small bites are awesome. Shrimp and grits were delicious. Also liked the beignets and crepes. Such a great value at 25 per person. Will be back!
Dinner outside on the patio at George's on a nice evening can't be beat. Great menu and service!
This was my second visit here and just as good as previous occasion. (Actually sat at same table!!) It is a sizable restaurant with ample tables outside. The main entree selection is limited to 12 choices and frankly that makes it easier to choose. We each selected 4 different dishes: Scallops, Salmon, Duck Breast and Rack of Lamb. Portion sizes are sensible but you will be paying fine dining prices. Everyone loved their dish. We shared a cheese and charcuterie platter as an appetizer. Georges will become a regular venue for me.
Note : when booking via OpenTable it is advisable to call the restaurant on the day just to make sure they have your table booked. I had been to another restaurant (Upstream) several weeks ago and we were kept waiting for 45 minutes with people coming in after us and being seated!!
This is my second time there.. I went during restaurant week and I had to go back and have their Seafood stew .. it’s delicious
Salads were terrible and un edible.. shrimp cocktail was over cooked. Onion soup so salty.. we cut our losses and left after drinks and apps.. so sad I was so looking forward to great food.. staff was great and manager very apologetic..
The ambiance is absolutely what one should expect to find in a French-style bistro. The soft music made for a comfortable dining experience, since it was easy enough to converse. Our food, from appetizer to dessert, was all of the finest quality and impeccably prepared. We will be back!
Great place for brunch! Huge selection of food on the buffet; salads, oysters, shrimp, breakfast food, prime rib. Price also includes an ala carte menu with things like crepes and shrimp & grits. One of the best in Charlotte!
Great Sunday brunch
I don't remember the waiters name, but he was awesome. I feel horrible that I don't but he made excellent recommendation's and everything went smoothly and was wonderful.
Food was subpar, our server would disappear constantly and we would wait and wait, and the retaurant is very loud. Not a good spot for a date. Huge disappointment overall.
Service was not as good as in the past, disappointing because this is one of our favorite restaurants in the area.
Disappointing Valentine's Day dinner and evening. Seated at a table extremely close to tables on both sides of us, so unfortunately we could easily hear conversations from other guests seated on both sides of us. Oysters on the halfshell as an appetizer were embarrassingly small and disappointing. The salad as the next course was fine and the only part of the meal that wasn't disappointing. The stuffed lobster as the entree was mostly filler and very little lobster, served on mashed potatoes and a few pieces of asparagus. For $200 ($65.00 a person, plus a bottle of wine and tip), a more comfortable, satisfying, and enjoyable dinner evening was what I expected. Will not return to this restaurant.
Husbands birthday and Valentines Day. Great for a romantic dinner!
Have been there several times over the past15+ years. Excellent!
This is our first time and we had a wonderful Valentine's day dinner.
Great meal with good service but $100.00 for two people means only once or twice a year for us.
My husband and I went for early Valentines dinner, loved the food our waiter was fantastic we will defiantly be back
We loved Georges four two previous dinner experiences but this was our first time at the Sunday brunch. Could not have been more impressed! The food was delicious, the service impeccable and the price surprisingly low at just $25. We will definitely be back
While our waiter was earnest in his service, the food came out way too slowly. We ordered off the Mardi Gras fixed price menu but it took 30 minutes from order for us to receive soup and a salad. The food was very good and the ambiance very nice.
Our server was great, but the timing of the food was very slow. They did take care of us by giving us free champagne, an appetizer, and dessert too. Just wish it didn’t take over three hours to eat.
Great service and food the mussels are outstanding along with there other seafood of scallops and trout. I would highly recommend this restaurant for date night with your wife.
We have visited Georges on many occasions. The food is always tasty, and the food quality is high. Unfortunately, the service has gone downhill the past four times we have visited. On this last occasion, we waited an hour an twenty minutes for our appetizers. After we had our appetizers, another 30 minutes passed and we still had not received our entrees. Throughout the entire experience we kept asking for the service to improve, but it never did. We finally, asked to pay for what we had eaten. The manager waived the cost to us, and we left the restaurant. It will be quite awhile before we visit Georges again, if ever. It is sad because we like the food, but the poor service is so bad, it cannot compensate for the lack of service. Finally, the wine list has some excellent wines. However, when we select a wine, the wine with the vintage we select is unavailable. In many cases, the server brings the a bottle from the same estate, but the vintage is younger by two or more years. This has been an ongoing issue at Georges as well. I wish Georges the best in the future, but improvement is certainly needed.
George's is such an anomaly in Charlotte NC. Why, when the food is so consistently very good to excellent, the service always above average to excellent, the ambiance warm and relaxed, is it always so easy to get a reservation even on a Friday or Saturday night?
When you walk into George's it always looks and smells sooo good. I even just commented to my wife, even the chalk board near the entrance announcing future special dinners and events, is tastefully done!
The mussels are usually why you come to George's . Are they the most consistent and best in Charlotte? Yes!! Are they the best I've eaten anywhere on the planet. Probably! I've lived in NYC, traveled fairly and I do not remember better mussels anywhere. And they serve them in several styles.
You continue to come and dine for all the rest of the food as well. Last Friday my family was celebrating my oldest being home for spring break and he chose George's (for the mussels) but honestly if my wife and I dined once a week, we could, (even with the maybe somewhat limited menu), have a consistently fabulous and varied meal. Last Friday the green goddess salad we all (5 of us) shared was substantial and fabulous. Really, a 10! Not kidding. My double bone pork chop was cooked perfectly and after I ate it I cut the two bones and greedily gnawed at each bone. Delicious!! With the polenta and brussel sprouts that dish could have easily been shared as well.
I didn't love one of our desserts but I'm being picky. Homemade, classic and if you share 2 courses you will have room to share a dessert and I'm certain you'll find something you will love. If not, try again because there's always an open table waiting for you.
Great service and atmosphere. Wonderful selections and variety. Prime Rib a little tough per me and my companion. But definitely will come again!
Love George’s. We have started going for brunch more often, but dinner is great as well. Ask for Lindsey!
It was great
Enjoyed a great date night with my husband. Cheese and charcuterie plate was absolutely delicious! We will be going back soon.
