George Martin's Strip Steak Ratings and Reviews
We visited this restaurant last year and I said I would not go back. The manager had reached out to me last year after my review had posted and I appreciated that call. My husband and I decided to give it another try. This experience was so much better than the last time. Service was great. Steak came out cooked the right way and was very good. We went on a night that they have the 3 course fixed price dinner otherwise prices are high.
Our waitress kim and the bartender (Phipp's Punch) were excellent. We live close by & have been to the restaurant alot of times. We celebrated our 19th Wedding Anniv on this visit. Food was excellent as always, drinks were fabulous and the Yankees came from behind and won the game! We took home a doggy bag and our children ate it all in 2 minutes. Thank you for the glasses of champagne to toast our night. Our night was a perfect 10!!!
We went there to celebrate our anniversary. We were seated promptly, and our drink orders taken. The noise level was good, and the ambiance was nice. The food, however, was overpriced and and just OK. We shared a calamari appetizer and it was poor, no taste at all. I had the filet and my wife the chicken. The steak was cooked as desired, but relatively tasteless. My wife didn't care for her main course either. The bill was too high. Don't think we will return.
We always love our dining experience at GMSS. The food and service are top notch and the addition of music in the lobby adds to the positive experience. This week, we shared a double birthday celebration which we mentioned to our server upon being asked if there was anything we were celebrating. We were surprised at the end of our meal with a delicious desert, sparkler and all, as well as a generous gift towards a future meal. We were blown away. It only made us love GMSS all the more. Can't wait to return. Thank you to Danielle and all who made our special occasion even more special.
been there a numbers of times and it was always first rate. this time wasn't up to the normal standards. price fix menu was a nice addition and adds value. entree selection was good, possibly needs a better desert selection. (sweet potato sorbet was an option, maybe that's just me) problem was the service. weekday night and it was pretty slow. i almost went to go get the server for drink refills and entree had been sitting for a while by the time it was served. not acceptable for what they are trying to be. i'll give them another shot because of past experiences but there are other steakhouses if it happens again.
This is our go to place to celebrate our anniversary. A cozy, intimate restaurant. Delicious butternut squash soup - one of the evening's specials. Lobster mac, pork chop and rib eye completed the meal, and were so good! Doggie bags were a must. Wait staff was attentive, but not overbearing on a busy Saturday evening. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Great Monday to Thursday specials! Three of the four of us ordered a special with everything included which screwed up the 4th person's side orders which are served family style. Meet was delicious! The loaded baked potato (cheese, sour cream and bacon) was dry and hard. Probably could have been cooked another 15 minutes. But it still would have been dry; would not order it again. Two desserts offered with the evening's specials. One was very odd but the other was delicious. Not a large portion, but just enough.
Food was good, but not great for the price. We have dined there before and I have been to many steakhouses. Filet was burnt on the outside and undercooked inside. I ordered medium and it was very, very charred and rare. Also, I noted that it was a special anniversary celebration in my reservation. No comment on the event when were arrive and we were seated at a small table in the corner next to the server station. Why ask?
Typically outstanding in all regards. The only criticism, and it is minor, is when we arrived home and put our leftovers in the refrigerator, the half portion of our side order mushrooms had been discarded and not sent home with us...unusual. Other than that...great as always.
memorable experience. we got a call from the restaurant to confirm our reservation which I like because we have had experiences in other places where we have made reservations and then when we got there they have said we don't.
nice hostess, waiter was spot on. we felt we were being taken care of by a very professional group of staff. Great recommendations and never felt rushed. He even stoped what he was doing at another table to say thank you to us when we were walking out. the only thing was that we wanted to have one more drink after dinner but the bar stools were all occupied. We will be back !
Recently the local newspaper rated the top ten steak places on long island....this establishment was not among them...i have been to all but two of their top ten...there is no way no how George Martins dies not belong on that list......the service is excellent..the food terrific....nice bar and ambiance......do not pass it up
Loud and Noisy but the food is good. This was a second try, had gone there on one other occasion and ended up bringing the food home service was so bad. Decided to give it one more try. The service at the bar was nonexistent, we were ignored. The restaurant is too small for the singer they had, he was good, but too small a place for live music. The dining room is crowded and noisy. You cannot hold a conversation without speaking very loudly which in turn makes it really noisy. The food is good as take-out. Unfortunately that's a lot of money to spend for take-out.
