George Martin's Grillfire Ratings and Reviews
It was a lot noisier than normal but given the holidays it's understandable. Our Open Table reservation was for 6:30 but the restaurant had us down for 6:00. As well as this request for review states 6:00. However, our Open Table confirmation stated 6:30 and I double check it when we arrived home. There's a glitch in the system somewhere. Nevertheless, the staff was very patient and didn't make a big deal out of it. The food was a bit too sauce centric for our liking, too sweet. But it was a fun time for all. Our waiter was prompt, patient, and helpful.
I love this restaurant. We go there often for business lunches and they are quick to serve the food and the food is excellent. Very good sized portions as well. They have a great variety of salads, health conscious meals as well as great comfort food depending upon you mood.
Reservations via Open table we're ready when we arrived. Table was waiting for us. Once seated, we were immediately served water and bread with cheese and butter. Waitress arrived shortly thereafter. Drinks came out very quickly, no long wait for alcohol either. Appetizers arrived quickly, calimari was a bit well done, but still very good. Half dozen raw oysters were fresh and very good. Two of is ordered 8oz Filet which was perfectly cooked medium rare as requested. Crab loaded baked potato was huge and very tastey. Split the crab stuffed baked potato with my wife. More than enough. Wife ordered chicken Caesar salad. Very good as well. Mom ordered crab ball appetizer. Very tastey. Cotton candy at end was a nice touch. Menu is much better since they changed it. Great service and great food.
GrillFire never fails in delivering outstanding food and great service. We shared two great appetizers which I highly recommend; if you like Tuna try the Tuna nachos, and the Crab Balls are among the best anywhere! I love their side salads and you can't go wrong with either the wedge or their Caesar salad - but we are partial to the wedge salad. Three of us had all excellent entrees - the ribs are fall off the bone. Although we have had these before, they are now brining them and they are even better than before. A newer entree will be one of my favorites - the 10 oz bone-in pork chop. It was so moist and tender. Loved the apples that came with it as well. I substituted out the sweet potatoes for a baked potato (They are always willing to accommodate a request.). Our last diner had the Ahi Tuna which was also excellent. Drinks are well crafted, and service was attentive and accommodating. GrillFire is a gem.
Happy Hour- GrillFire has a great Happy Hour! Quality appetizers at reasonable prices! The have a great selection of draft beer and house wines are $5.00. Looking for a good place to enjoy some drinks and apps this is the place. Of course you can order from the main menu as well but you really have much to choose from including a slider of the day. The atmosphere is wonderful and the service is everything you would expect from this wonderful restaurant.
We were celebrating our anniversary and really enjoyed our meal here. Our waitress brought over 2 glasses of champagne (may have been sparkling wine) with blueberries before we even ordered. Nice touch. I also ordered a Ginger Cosmo.
Shared the roasted brussel sprouts (yum) and my husband raved over the wedge salad. I had the braised short ribs which were wonderful and highly recommend! Large portion which I couldn't even finish. My husband ordered the marinated skirt steak which he said was fantastic but I think I enjoyed my meal more. DELISH!
Didn't have room for dessert but the cotton candy was an unexpected treat. Will definitely return especially if they continue their BOGO promotions.
Great lunch -- a variety of choices at reasonable prices for the quality. Service is right on and the food is consistent. They seem to do all things well. We really enjoyed the Tuna Nachos, crab cake BLT and the crispy wrap. There is something for everyone.
Given the "sophisticated" label that the restaurant applies to itself, one would expect a different crowd - definitely not guests wearing shorts and t-shirts... Especially considering that prices are so high! The food is tasty at Grillfire: steaks done right, an amazing Caesar salad, and a delicious bread pudding. The cocktails did not meet our expectations; the Grey Goose Mule was gross. We will definitely return here when we receive another BOGO offer.
Fantastic table service by Lauren for our table of 15.
Ambiance - Picture perfect! Indoors and Out! Beautiful modern décor, fantastic lighting, comfy setting and spacious dining rooms and bar area.
Service - Impeccable! Lauren was very young and vibrant! Well dressed, mannerly and respectable. She was a hit w the honoring couple (Wedding Anniversary) as well and she picked up a fan (w my 6 year old nephew ). She was present when needed, fantastic order taking and food suggestions, menu knowledgeable, personable, and super quick w requests (food, condiments, beverages, etc).
Food... Ohhh the Food!!! - EVERYTHING that hit our table was delicious! I personally ordered the Brussels Sprouts and Wings, hubby Marinated Skirt Steak & Eggs , and Waffles, Omelets, pancakes, bacon etc for everyone else!!! It was a feast! Thanksgiving came early in Hanover, MD!!!
This is definitely an establishment I look forward to revisiting in the near future!!! I recommend this spot for any visit ranging from a romantic meal for 2 to a large gathering!!!
My sister and I had a late lunch there. There were only a few people at this odd time so it was very quiet. I really enjoyed their decor. It was comfortable and classy with soft earthy colors and a subtle contemporary vibe.
The calamari was delicious, tender and well prepared with a bit of a "kick" from the drizzled topping. The portion was just right.
We split an enormous Reuben sandwich. The corned beef was a thicker cut (but not too thick), flavorful, tender and well trimmed. The sauerkraut was good with a subtle tang but there could have been three times as much on the sandwich. It certainly was way in the background. All in all, it was a good sandwich. It came with a pickle and sweet potato fries. The fries were good but a little over browned. But, there was lots of sea salt crystals adhered to them...way too much! We couldn't eat them they were so salty and we are not on low-salt diets. (We were expecting regular fries with the sandwich. Our mistake for not asking.)
Our experience was good, with a few flaws in our small sampling; but, we will definitely try them again. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the service and food quality was very good, if only the prep was just good. I will recommend George Martin's Grillfire to our friends as a nice restaurant to try.
Travel Note: Siri and Google both gave a runaround when trying to find the restaurant. It is on Arundel Mills Blvd. maybe 2 miles past Arundel Mills Mall and the casino. The restaurant will be on the left side of the road. Go past PetSmart, a fairly large wooded area with residential until you come to "The Hotel on Arundel Preserve". (Across the street, on the right side, is a small, new strip plaza.) Turn left and left again on the first drive. It is on the left side of the "U" of restaurants and shops as part of The Hotel. You can not see it from the main road.
2nd time dining at GMFG. Unfortunately had to send a note to the restaurant the next day. New chef dusted plates with a seasoning which was not requested nor listed on the menu. My girlfriend had a severe allergic reaction to the seasoning, of which she has not fully recovered from to-date.
Other than that, the experience was as great as I expected and encountered during my first visit.
We decided to go for Happy Hour and what a great Happy Hour! You really can make a meal out of it. We loved the slider of the day - a Buffalo chicken with cheese. The Calamari was tender and delicious. We are great fans of their Chili pop Shrimp and enjoyed them again. We decided to add from their special - the Potato Balls which were like a croquette with a great dipping sauce. You can order from all the menus at Happy Hour so if you want to add from the dinner menu that is not a problem. The craft beers are a bargain at $5.00. Service is always top notch. The manager, Christina is welcoming and stays engaged with her staff. It makes all the difference.
