When my best friends come to town, I would take them here for the cuisine.
Never disappointed when we have a meal at George Martin. Service is professional, Wine list and drinks are always updated and top shelf. Servers are courteous, caring, and make your meal special. The menu has something for everyone. If you want a quieter atmosphere ask for the side room. Reservations are accepted and you are seated within 5 minutes of the time you reserved.
My party all agreed George Martin is consistently great.
Service from the front desk to the wait staff very good. Food is excellent.
We dined at George Martin on Mother's Day. I don't usually like going out on these holidays because sometimes the restaurants are extremely crowded and noisy. When we arrived, we were seated in a very nice room, which had adequate seating and was not overly crowded or noisy. The service we received was excellent. The food was also excellent. The steak and crab cake dish was delicious, as was the chicken dish my husband ate. The brownie and ice cream dessert was amazing. All the food was ordered from their Mother's Day menu and I felt that there were more than enough choices and very well priced. Overall, a very enjoyable dinner.
Went to GM Original for Mother’s Day always worry about going to a restaurant on a holiday- especially Mother’s Day or Alice. Will they honor the reservation, will be rushed, will the service be up to par, will they have their menu or only limited choices. Well we were 110% impressed and pleased with dinner. We were sat exactly at our reserved time. The staff was exceptional and friendly - on complete top of their game. They did have a special menu with all sorts of choices for Mother’s Day. We were also told if you want something from the regular menu - not on the special one just ask. We did- no problem!! Everything was great!!! High praise to the Chef and all staff. A great night!!!!
Excellent all around. Love this place.
Excellent mussels, calamari, skirt steak, and fish. Stick to the beer and wine. Key lime pie was delicious! I have been to George Martin’s other restaurant as well - this one is much better in terms of space, lighting, food, and service.
It would be nice if I received points for my reservation
Excellent service, but the table was right next to the bar and little noisier than necessary. It would have been a perfect experience if we were seated in the “side car” area and not against the bar wall.
Good specials and an excellent wine special.
Overall it was a great birthday dinner.
Wonderful food. Server Pete (or Paul) was fantastic. All the server was great. Desserts on the small side everything else were hearty portions.
Love love love this place each and every time!!! Highly recommend for food, service and fun!
It was a great dinner! John is an excellent server and we were treated so well by him and everyone else at George Martin. We'll be back!!
Chicken Tacos were a little too spicy for me this time.
As always, Suzanne and her wait staff and great chefs make a visit the the Original George Martin a dining extravaganza. It can not be beat on the south shore of Long Island and I feel just as good, if not better, than most restaurants in other parts of Long Island or New York City.
I would recommend this restaurant to one and all. Just enjoy!
Great deal for restaurant week. Really enjoyed the menu options.
We were looking for a casual place for our date night that had a steak option. After seeing so many great reviews online and our night happen to fall on Long Island Restaurant Week - we opted for this place. We reserved online, requesting a table in the quieter room. They honored our request and we were seated upon arrival. My boyfriend and I decided to do the 3 course restaurant week menu for $29. Complimentary bread was OK - the whipped butters that came with it were the highlight. The mussels in a garlic broth was the best course. I ordered the steak - medium with truffle fries. The steak came out almost well with zero flavor and the fries had no seasoning let alone any hint of truffle oil flavor. Paper fries. My bf had the ribs and mac and cheese. The ribs were tender and saucy but nothing great. The mac and cheese was ok, yet dried out pasta. Their "popular" brownie wasn't what I had expected. It was more of a cake mix and yet another item that was underwhelming. But, the most disappointing part of our experience was - SERVICE. Our server really could've cared less with answering our questions about the food. She never smiled. She rarely asked how everything was throughout each course. In fact, we had more face time with the bus boy than our server. With such high regards from online reviews for such a well to do restaurant, especially during RESTAURANT WEEK... service and food quality combined will be the reason we will not return to this establishment.
Went out for a birthday. Our waiter was excellent as was the food and service . Love this place
My family has enjoyed George Martins for many years. The food and service are always quite good. At our most recent dinner we ordered from the Restaurant Week menu. It was a very good value. We even took home some leftovers for lunch the next day. My only complaint is that my chicken was overcooked. I should have sent it back. The George Martin Brownie is a classic; it's always great.
We got engaged and frequent this restaurant twice a year at least. No complaints!
George Martin simply never disappoints. Food is outstanding quality (the chopped salad is really special...also very filling....couldn't finish my steak!). We were there for my wife's birthday but coincidentally, it was also restaurant week; I expected portions to be a little more conservative on the very reasonably priced prix fix....I could not have been more wrong! I ordered a la carte off the main menu (to get something that wasn't on the fixed menu) and rest of our group got the prix fix. All portions were generous! Service was also spot on, although would have hoped server would have asked whose birthday it was in advance rather than trying to figure it out when desserts were brought to table! But all in all a great meal. One of the best places in the RVC area (and there's a lot of competition!).
Good food, good people, real nice specials all the time, a keeper.
Mediocre food. Restaurant is way too noisy.
My husband and I do not get to go out to eat together very often, and we also operate on a budget. My husband LOVES beef, but I do not. I would not have chosen this spot had it not been restaurant week, and had the special menu not been posted online. I liked that there were plenty of choices that were not steak - chicken, seafood, and vegetarian options were included. The menu was very unique and featured a variety of dishes I would consider
"American fusion," unlike what I would expect from a typical steak house. I also appreciated that the waitstaff was mature, and knowledgeable of the menu items. Our food came out very quickly - which could've been due to the fact that it was busy because of restaurant week, but I am unsure since this was our first time eating at this restaurant. The portions were the perfect size - not too small or too large. My husband had buffalo chicken tacos as an app, steak frites for his entree, and the brownie sundae for dessert. I had the [avocado] toast as my app, jalepeno and tequilla shrimp with rice and beans as my entree, and the french vanilla poundcake for dessert. The toast was different and delicious, the shrimp were slightly overcooked though the dish itself was very good, but the poundcake was fresh, presumably homemade, and absolutely amazing!
We had a great time at dinner.....food and service was outsanding.
Great Restaurant Week Menu.
Excellent evening My friend’s birthday. I don’t stray from my neighborhood, but I know George Martin, having been there many years ago. Still great!
The fish was delicious and was the veggie main. Mussels are out of this world as is the no flour Chocolate cake.
Great service and not tooo noisy.
Just average. Service was good but food was subpar and very bland. Had to put salt and pepper on everything to make it taste better, and then had to ask for hot sauce and ketchup. Not what I had expected for a pricier restaurant. Didn’t hate it, but would not go back again.
Fabulous food & service. Always fresh and tasty. Never disappointed.
Enjoyed. Did restaurant week menu. Great variety to choose from. Delicious@
George Martin the original is one of my favorite restaurants. The popovers and bread they serve with hummus and maple butter spreads are amazing ..... I love their GM chopped salad with filet mignon. I tried the almond crusted cod special which was excellent -I prefer sitting in a booth in the back or the sidecar room - the area in the front by the host station is too noisy and busy. George Martin the original never disappoints!!
This is a nice neighborhood restaurant. We always choose it when we have tickets at the Madison Theater. The noise level can be high. Pick the back room if you prefer a quieter dinner. The only downside is that the chairs in the back are not comfortable. The food ranges from mediocre to excellent, depending on what you order. The service was attentive. The front entrance is very crowded with little or no room if you are waiting for a table.
Good food! We enjoyed dinner.
Waitress was disappointment, went to manager and she took over overall enddd well
Great food, slow service, TOO LOUD
The restaurant was very crowded and very very loud. We sat in an area where the tables were close together. The bread was excellent served with three different types of butter. The drinks were decently flavored but a bit overpriced. Our appetizer a chopped salad was good but the large sharing size was not that big. The pretzel and mustard covered salmon wad excellent as were the vegetables it came with. My wife’s bbq ribs were huge she could hardly finish it. The cake and sorbet we had for dessert were ok. All in all it was a pleasant experience good food and service only problem was the loud noise level so be prepared
Never had a bad meal here. Great food, drinks & service. Always a fun night out here!
I requested and received a quiet table and we were not rushed at all. Thank you!
Good food, good service, as is usual.
I've been a regular customer for years. Always great service and great food!!
It was Easter Sunday, and our friends birthday! Everything was delicious and they even put a candle in the dessert, without having been asked!! We will definitely return!!
We have always had a good experience at George Martin. This Easter I left my eyeglasses on the table. When we got home, we got a phone call from George Martin telling us about the glasses. I probably wouldn't have realized they were missing until the next day. Thanks for taking care of them.
