George Martin The Original Ratings and Reviews
We've been dining at George Martin's for years. We love the food and the ambience. The noise level is moderate enough to have a conversation while enjoying dinner. The steaks are irresistable. I was thinking Mahi Mahi as I crossed the threshold but broke down when I got the menu. Medium rare Flatiron steak with a baked potato. It's a special place with many memories. Our server was extremely helpful and knowlegeable. I think her name was Cecelia. She spoke more like a food critic than a waitress. Attentive and efficient. A complete dining experience.
We were celebrating my parents 49th Wedding Anniversary , George Martin was a great choice of place. The ambiance was perfect and set a really lovely mood. I was somewhat concerned about parking per reviews; however, we quickly and conveniently found parking within a few feet from from the restaurant. We had a really lovely evening. FYI, parking is free after 6pm.
Having reservations and arriving earlier than anticipated, we were promptly seated. We were looking for a good ham burger before going to the movies. Instead we ended up having seafood which was an excellent decision. Both fish dishes ( Swordfish and Tile ) were properly prepared, with good presentation and very tasty. We had the GM salad which was enough for two to share although it was an order for just one. No chance to sample the desert menu because of time. The waiter was prompt and attentive, in fact he returned after having served us the fish before my wife could even take a bite. We gave no indication we were on a time restriction. Definitely would return to try their meat selection as they looked great being served to the near by tables.
There are somethings you can always count on - an excellent meal at George Martin Original in Rockville Centre is one of them!!! The Steaks were perfect!!! The service was top notch!! I went with my 2 sons for dinner. Everybody enjoyed!!! Large portions, friendly service, great food - a great evening!!!
We loved our appetizers most. I had the grilled octopus and my hubby had the avocado toast. Both were equally delicious. The husband and I ordered cocktails off the menu and omg, they both tasted strong for my liking. My hubby loved his. On the otherhand, mine was so strong. I took the smallest sips here and there just so the $12 wouldn't go to waste. Our kids had the hamburger and the chicken tenders. The fries that went with the kids meals were cooked exactly how I would like. I kept nibbling of my daughter's plate for the fries. The service was attentive and nice without being overbearing which I like. My steak was cooked the way I asked for itt, however, it was a bit chewy. I also wasn't all that crazy for the side that I chose. It was the spaztel and mushroom side. It was a bit burnt and the spaztel tasted a bit on the butter side because of the burnt pieces. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience and I would still recommend it.
We have never been disappointed with a visit to George Martin. The service was outstanding Pete our waiter and the entire staff who we interacted with made our evening an enjoyable experience. The selection of entrees are always exceptional, matched with an excellent cocktail you couldn't ask for a better experience. Thanks again
My family hasn't been to GM for years but recently rediscovered it and love it
all over again. Has a great diverse menu, good drink pours and friendly, welcoming
atmosphere. Our waiter was John and he was so personable. We had a great night!
I absolutely adore this place. Parking is terrible, but if you arrive at the right time, you can park in the LIRR parking lot across the street. Aside from that, the food was absolutely spectacular. Everything was cooked well and seasoned to perfection. The portions, in my opinion, are HUGE! John, our server, made excellent wine and entree suggestions. We made reservations and were seated immediately. The restaurant is cozy but definitely gives a fine dining vibe. I will totally be back!
The food was pretty good but it can get pricey. The starting bread was really great. I had the lobster and shrimp linguini which was very good. My boyfriend got a steak that was good but not great.
Our waiter Pete was VERY helpful and the food came out quickly.
It did get a little loud and the music sounded like it was from a dance club.
We had a 6 girl mini reunion. Friends for over 60 years. Kristen, our waitress was exceptional. Had hoped for a chance we could sit, TALK,enjoy a meal, have a drink and BE HAPPY. George Martin exceeded my hopes. Only downside is parking. We all grew up in RVC, St. Agnes grads of 1962 and cannot believe how it has built up. Hardly recognizable in some ways. No one felt rushed. Exceptional place. ❤️
