George Martin The Original Ratings and Reviews
We had an excellent dinner here last week. Service was great - very attentive waiters and servers. Food was outstanding! We had the shirt rib tacos for an appetizer, which were very tasty and just a little bit spicy. Then we split a very nice Ceaser Salad which we both enjoyed. For dinner we each had one of the steak combos - mine was with the crab cake and lobster mashed potatoes, the crab cake was wonderful and the mashed potatoes were amazing, lots of chunks of lobster in them. My husband had the combo with shrimp (which were huge) and the seas scallops - all of which he loved. We had a great dessert with a brownie and vanilla ice cream - a nice end to the meal. All in all a great restaurant and one I would easily recommend.
Had a wonderful dinner at George Martin with my family. It is a great restaurant for any type of event. A date with your hubby or dinner out with the family. For appetizers we shared the pop shrimp. They were fresh, hot and spicy. The cod special for my entree was light, fresh and delicious. My husband had the strip steak which he said was very tender. His only criticism was he wished it was seasoned a little more with salt and pepper when it was cooked. The waitress was lovely. She checked on our table often to refresh our water and took additional drink orders. Overall a great dinner and we will be back soon.
We have eaten here a number of times. The food is always very good, and the service is as well. During the week the noise level is moderate, but on the weekends it can get quite noisy. Good place to go out with friends as we did, but if your'e looking for a quiet romantic place on Saturday night look elsewhere.
The only problem with George Martin is that they don't honor their reservations. We had a 7:30PM reaervation and had to wait until almost 8PM to be seated. After numerous check-ins with the hostess we were told that "our table" was almost ready...the people were done, but hadn't paid their check yet. So we waited and waited. Finally, the main Hostess said, once you are seated, we'll make sure that you are taken care of promptly...and we were. Once we were finally seated, she brought us a special appetizer as a peace offering. The rest of the evening went smoothly. The food, as always was good...
-Ordered the Filet Mignon rare and it came out perfectly. A nice thick cut, it was flavorful and tender and exactly whet I expected. Also had the Lobster Mac and Cheese which was a little underwhelming as the dish was a little under seasoned and light on the lobster.
Service was good. Had to add one diner to our reservation upon arrival which was taken care of by the hostess no problem and the wait staff was very attentive but patient as our party did a bit of socializing prior to ordering.
Service was excellent! Our waitress was very attentive and very helpful when we had questions or comments . One of my fellow diners was unhappy with his drink (it was very strong tasted like straight vodka) and she was quick to help rectify the situation . I ordered a special for the night which was filet mignon with scallops in a bernaise sauce with mashed potatoes. My steak was cookedexactly how I ordered it and had a great sear on the outside but had absolutely no seasoning. My scallops were also cooked perfectly but again weren't seasoned but thankfully the sauce was delicious so it made up for it. This place is very good but some simple things like proper seasoning on the food and nicer decor could take it over the top.
We had to push our reservation back..they accommodated on a Saturday night. When we were brought to our table, the high chair was there, as I asked for in open table..very nice
The artichoke ravioli special was delish, as were the beet and asparagus carpaccio and the seared tuna apps. All in our group were happy with their entrees. The ribeye s were grilled to perfection. Tree out of four of us had beef; all agreed that GM makes. Old, basic steak. Not the most amazi g rub or marinade, but quite tasty
Cocktails, especially the blood orange tequila something, were fun.
Took my sons for dinner. We shared calamari and the beef tacos for appetizers. The calamari came with three different dipping sauces. In addition to the traditional marinara sauce, tartar and a nice pesto were added. The boys enjoyed the tacos while I snacked on the calamari. Both were yummy.
For entrees, the boys ordered the ribeye while I had the skirt steak. We traded tastes of each. All were tasty and well-prepared. If you like fries with your steak, give the sweet potato fries a try.
For desert one of us ordered the brownie with Hagen Daz ice cream which I would classify as average. Kudos to the staff for adding two cookies and some Blondies to our deserts, compliments of the Chef. A nice touch.
All in all, a fine meal.
Took my mother there for her 73rd birthday with my kids (ages 12 & 9). Everybody happy! Lively enough for kids to think it's fun and plenty to find on menu for both ages. GM is a neighborhood favorite that I hope never changes what they do best.. serve differentiated food offerings in a in an chic NYC-styled environment with consistent service and a cool local vibe
restaurant very loud and the food came out not looking the same as a normal dinner night, maybe that is because it was mothers day, the plates came out looking like the food was just thrown together. the service was great as always but nothing special about the dishes
