Geoffrey's Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
This restaurant was so good, my sister literally got engaged to here. If you are bringing someone to a restaurant who has never been to California before, bring them to this restaurant. It has it all: fire pits, string lights, waterfalls, ocean views, and a kickin' dessert menu (with a decaf coffee option - which wins for me right there!). My sister and her boyfriend now want to move to California.
Our server, Didi (or Deedee, unsure as to the spelling) was very attentive, efficient, and pleasant. As a server myself I can definitely recognize those traits in one and I was grateful to have her. She held a pleasant conversation with my girlfriend and me while keeping service speedy for her whole section. I would definitely ask for her if you visit.
The greeting was pleasant. I brought flowers to be at my table when I got there for an anniversary but they failed to deliver that. I had to ask where my flowers were and they were brought to the table after we were seated. They changed tables out our request and sent us to the bar, we sat at the bar for approximately 10 minutes with no attention, the bartender walked by us twice never asked if we'd like something until a half a minute before they came to get us for our table. So obviously we did not enjoy a pre-dinner drink at the bar. The manager was explaining tableservice to a waiter while we're at the bar, and that should have been done behind closed doors. The food was OK but our waiter was really good and paid a lot of attention to us, which made it somewhat of an enjoyable evening . I waited years to go to the restaurant I don't think I would recommend it to anybody for anything but a casual dinner night out.
Food was good. Service was awkward. First off, no warm greeting. The service overall left much to be desired. 4 different people handled us from entrance to ordering food, without introductions or guidance on who was responsible for what. No one introduced themselves as our server. I had to ask what the specials were. We had to request to order food. My brother had to request to order appetizers. I heard someone be offered a blanket, we never were. When I asked if black napkins were available for my black dress, the woman told me "I don't think so" coldly. ...then 30 minutes later a different man appeared with black napkins. I'll never freely choose to go back. There are too many other options where I can be treated better in Malibu and LA.
My husband and I visit the beach next to the restaurant. In fact, that’s where he proposed(Escondido beach). We’ve been wanting to try Geoffrey’s for the longest time & I surprised him for his birthday! We enjoyed our meals and selection of wine. The service was wonderful. We will be back again.
My sister came in from out of town (a rare occasion) so I wanted to take her somewhere nice. The atmosphere was, of course, nice (good for you, simply by being by the water)but the food was sub-standard and the service, though, okay, seemed "pushed" and unorganized. The waitress forgot who had what, seemed to "forget" us when there were only a few tables seated, and was confused when it came to our bill. My brother-in-law and I had the seafood paella - which, well, this version, anyone could make at home. The shrimp were rubbery(I mean, come on now, Geoffery's Oceanside restaurant) there was ONE scallop - (thanks) and about twenty or so flavorless mussels. The rice was too al dente and there was simply no cohesiveness to the dish. Nothing to simply bring it together. My sister had the swordfish which she liked and my friend had the tofu dish, which she liked, but neither one of them were overly impressed. The next day, we went to a restaurant down the road, and we all had a far superior experience. I wouldn't recommend this place, unless they step up their game.
We have enjoyed Geoffrey's on a number of occasions and with all the fires around it was perfect for a quiet celebration of our 40th anniversary with just my wife and myself. More like a European service which allows conversation, service and attention without feeling rushed. The food is also broadly based. I had the paella, excellent, and my wife enjoyed one of the special Geoffrey's benedicts.
From the gentlemen who parked our car to the table of six next to us who joined our celebration with a toast, it was a memorable meal.
His was a wonderful Resturant. We would highly recommend it for a special occasion. It was pretty expensive for an everyday place, but for our anniversary it was perfect. Our waitress was very efficient, professional, courteous, helpful, and attentive. Thank you die a terrific experience.
We love going to Geoffrey's for a great view of the water. We always order our favorites, so the food is never a problem. The only negative we encountered was we picked the hottest Nov-22 in the past 100 years to go to an outdoor restaurant. Other than that, it was great.
Extremely convenient valet-parking; comfortable table w/ extraordinary views; friendly, attentive service. My wife judged her Cosmopolitan to be the best ever. I chose a bottle of French Chablis, which we both enjoyed immensely. We also split an excellent and generous coconut shrimp appetizer. Wife ordered the salmon with mashed artichoke hearts--other worldly. I wasn't as hungry, so I ordered the vegetable panini. Really tasty, but quite peppery, which I like, but be prepared. We finished with the desert cheese-plate, which is served with scrumptious warm figs. We were celebrating our anniversary and could not have enjoyed ourselves more. $200 plus tip seemed a bit high, but I would definitely repeat.
Beautiful place. Food was good . Pricing was good for our brunch . Service was great and professional . Hostess was friendly. My seat was a little dirty so I wish they would of cleaned our table and seats prior to seating us. Overall this was a great and beautiful experience .
