Geoffrey's Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Everything was ok. Whole point of the restaurant in my opinion is sitting by the railing further away so you can see the sunset. Without the sunset it’s a regular overpriced restaurant. Went on Valentine’s Day . And the food was bland. Caesar salad was ok , steak I have had A lot better , overall it was just ok. Won’t be coming back. But thanks anyways
Overall, this is a great resturant in a beautiful setting overlooking the Pacific Ocean and downtown Los Angeles. If you time it right, you can watch the moon rise while you dine. Food was good and wine list extensive. I expected a little more for the price.
It had been years since my last visit to Geoffrey’s. Unfortunately, I’m afraid I’ll wait to return again too soon. The front of House was very accommodating and showed us to a lovely table. The two of us ordered two appetizers to be coursed separately then each an entree. The two appetizers arrived at a glacial pace - to the extent we had to ask a runner when the second was to arrive (our bubbly but absent server was never to be seen). The two entrees arrived 30 minutes after they cleared the last appetizer. The risotto was hideously over cooked and the chicken dry. We didn’t send it back because we were hungry and afraid how long a re-fire would take, not that our server ever came to inquire about our meal. Here’s a tip: enjoy the great view at a table for drinks and dine elsewhere.
We came to Geoffrey’s for the first time (I’ve been living in La for 20 yrs!) in honor of my parent’s 50 th Wedding anniversary. The food was incredible, the server was friendly and helped with the celebration! It was a very windy night unfortunately and I wasnt aware all the seating is outdoors but we had a beautiful view and just had to be extra careful about holding on to our wine glasses and napkins. Would def recommend for any special occasion (the food is pricey!) and even better if you can catch a sunset!
The service was terrible. I had asked for a nice table to watch the sunset and was stuck in the back on the other side of the building from the sunset. The first waiter failed to tell us about the specials. We were there over an hour before finding out about the special and ordering. 40 minutes later we were told they were out of the special. 30 minutes later the waiter still had not come for our dinner order. We paid the bill and left.
Great location, very quiet on a January weekday lunchtime. Got a good table outside and the food was mostly excellent as always. Let down only by the tasteless whipped butter at the start and coffee at the end, both of which could easily be improved. Overall a favourite and we have visited many times
My husband and I went out for a date , we had been to this restaurant a few years ago and loved it. This time the food was not at all what it had been. My husband ordered the most expensive steak on the menu and it was awful. over cooked and tasted like ground burnt hamburger. I ordered the black cod the fish was great but it was on a bed of fried rice and that was also over cooked and beneath that was soy sauce it was overpowering i could only eat the fish.We complained and they were apologetic. I will go here again but would hope this restaurant makes sure the food stays at the level it should considering the prices.
This is a lovely place to eat with some very nice staff. It has a great location and a nice ambiance. The attitude of the staff was very good; my niece and I enjoyed the banter.
The menu is quite good; as is the wine list. If it ended there and this was a middle order restaurant offering middle order pricing I would be giving it a 4 star review.
Unfortunately the quality of the food really does not meet the standard required for a restaurant in its high end price category. We shared the crab cake starter ...it was a little stodgy and bland for my tastes to be honest. However the real let down was the main courses. Both my niece and I had rice based dinners. In my case it was the scallops on a bed of risotto ... the risotto was again bland and way over cooked. There was simple no texture left in the rice and the scallops themselves were likely farmed a way too soft; no firmness at all.
As for my niece - she had the Paella. Again the rice was mushy and over cooked. It had an odd curry flavour rather than the traditional Chorizo base.
We had a lovely evening overall, not least due to the attitude of the staff and the wonderful ambiance of this place. It is a pity about the the food, if it was a lower price bracket I would not complain as much ... but I expect more in this category. Nothing that can't be fixed with a little more attention to detail.
