Geoffrey's Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We have dined at Geoffry's many times, usually for a special occasion. Food is inconsistent, sometimes good sometime aah. This experience, the food was okay. Service was fantastic (ask for Danny!) The restaurant ambiance can't be beat- we call it an evening trip to Hawaii.
Honeymoon - Sunday Brunch. Amazing puff pastry with brie, quiche lorraine and seafood paella. Drinks felt good going down and were nice and stiff. Our sever was very informative and helpful with recommendations and attentiveness. Will go back next time we’re out West.
This was one of those unfortunate dining experiences. We have dined at this restaurant for almost 40 years through different dining experiences, owners, chefs and menus. Our last time was several years ago and we had dined here several times within a year. It was truly a fine dining experience then. NOT NOW. Prior visits, the entire staff was upbeat, smiling, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and certainly helpful. NOT NOW. Our waitress attempted to keep a positive attitude but you knew she knew that things weren't going well. It took several requests to get water, to get plates removed between courses; we would get responses like, "that's the bus boys job". The appetizers were tasty. The Seafood Paella was tasteless. In general, the food will / did not create a memory to want us to return soon. BUT THAT WASN'T the worst. We had used Uber since it is in Malibu, 60 miles from where we live. At the end of the meal, we found out there was no internet access and no available WiFi to call Uber for the return trip. I was asked to "walk up the hill" to try for a signal. Nothing worked. It took a bit of fussing with staff and then the manager to take control, she called the owner to get approval to attach us to the secured WiFi in the restaurant. We were able to get a car. Their alternative for us was to call a cab which they did and informed us it would arrive in 1 1/2 hours!
All I can say is that I couldn't possibly have chosen a better spot to take my friend for her birthday. The food was incredible, the service was grade A, and the view...I just can't. Perfect for girl's brunch or a romantic date. Definitely recommend going during the day when you can see the ocean from your table. Also, there's a coastal access point just behind the outdoor seating area where you can walk down to the beach and relax before driving home. It's lovely.
Lets just start with that I love this restaurant. The view is amazing and we almost always get a good meal here. For the last few times that I was there the service was great and I preferred this place over moonshadow at all time. However the service today was not forgivable. I have been raving about this place to my friend and took him here for brunch. The server literally threw food at our table. Every single dish was thrown at the table and the sound annoyed us so much. Not only that the service was so inattentive. Our coffee was gone and never refilled. Our water was low and never refilled. The normally good restaurant had such a bad server who was chatting at another table and didn't pay attention to us. I do hope that management looked at this and improved in the future. Otherwise next time I would request another server who wouldn't throw food at us and treated us like second class citizen.
Our favorite is the seafood paella and the sea scallop. The crusted salmon misses the mark. I don't think you will go wrong with the sweet bc they are all pretty good.
I do hope to have better service next time otherwise we would never come back.
What an absolutely stunning restaurant. Upon entering, we were greeted by such an amazing Valet team. I have never seen people smiling with such enthusiasm. It was as if they were waiting for our arrival. I immediately assessed that my Son and I were in for an experience of a life time. This has been a litmus test used by me for years. Simply, when you’re served with a smile, the entity will over deliver in excellency. There was, however, a small “hiccup” with our seating, hence, my Son had previously reserved a particular area he wanted us to sit in; but when the Hostess began sincerely apologizing for a preemptive “longer than we need to wait time-frame”, again I knew that we were in the mist of employees’ serving as catalysts of exemplary service. How could we have known that what we were about to witness an experience would never be forgotten? Our server-Abraham-was just what we needed. This man was an incredible, articulate, professional-yet passionate individual. The service that he provided us was by far more than imaginable. He was well poised to guarantee that we would feel welcomed. It was as if we were royalty. No kidding! His knowledge of the recipes used to create mouth-watering, one-of-a-kind dishes was astounding. His recommendations were “spot on”. Again, you can tell a lot about a place by the way the employees are treated. His introduction to what we were about to experience did not disappoint. We will forever be grateful to Abraham for forcing us to return without there being a “special occasion ” to frequent this wonderful gem.
Thank you, Geoffrey's Restaurant for providing a conducive atmosphere where we could celebrate my 25 years of being CANCER FREE. I highly recommend this establishment for any and all occasions.
Very nice place. Other than a very loud table of 10+ right next to us , it was a great experience. One other note - I would think a beautiful place like this would have more of a dress code for dinner. Several at the aforementioned table were wearing T-shirts and sweats while my wife and I were dressed for our anniversary. This cheapens the experience somehow. Sign of the times I guess.
My boyfriend and I decided to eat somewhere nice for our 7 year Anniversary and when we came across Geoffrey's restaurant, we were excited to dine in. Our waiter DeeDee was really nice for the most part, but when my boyfriend asked her "how's the swordfish?" she made us feel belittled when she responded "like how is it prepared? or?". My boyfriend then stated that he had never tried it before and was curious to know how it tasted. She then said that it's a white fish and people either love it or hate it. She didn't describe anything about taste and my boyfriend just decided to go with something else he was comfortable with. Our food was good and DeeDee made sure to check on us often to see if everything was tasting okay. However, what really upset us was that, as we were walking out, I asked a server if he can take a picture of my boyfriend and I. He did not mind at all and was very kind. When I got in the car, I looked at the picture and noticed one of their waiters "photobombing" in the background. I noticed he flipped us off and it completely ruined my experience for this place. I am all for photobombing when its something silly or funny, but don't be rude. As a server myself, I had high expectations for such a high end restaurant. Our hour and a half drive to get there was a disappointment and if it wasn't for the amazing view and ambiance, this review would have been a lot worse.
This place is fantastic for a special night out with a fantastic view, great food and wonderful ambiance. I would highly recommend the alcoholic lemonade beverage it was DELICIOUS! I had the filet mignon which was amazing especially the bed of potatoes it was on and my husband had the swordfish and both were just delicious and a medium/large meal portions. Next time I will be trying the scallops because several tables were talking about how good they were. Dinner was for my birthday and I asked the hostess when I made the reservation if she could give us a great seat and she sure did!!!! THANK YOU!!! The service was awesome and I...unlike others.... am totally fine with them adding the valet to the bill for convenience. Parking is very tight I am happy they have valet! Overall great experience and I will be back!
The experience was great. The view was beautiful. The food was good. It was our first time there. We plan to return, and next time, knowing the floor plan, will request a table with an even better view! Everyone should visit at least once, but will likely want to return!
Overall we were really disappointed. The place was dark and noisy inside. The service contrived, and the food bland. We felt really uncomfortable there.
We requested a particular location and didn't get it (okay, fine). Our table wasn't ready on arrival. We got intermittently splashed from what I presume was a fountain outside while we were eating. Since it was dark (as in night time), we couldn't see any of the surrounding area, though I hear it is beautiful by day.
The waiter took half a drinks order and then left our table. Two of us didn't get the drinks we ordered. I don't know if it was on the bill because we only checked after we got home and it wasn't itemized.
The table next to ours had a nanny and noisy kids running around the whole time, so the parents could enjoy their meal on a separate quiet table. At the end of their meal, the parents apologized to us on their way out but it was really insincere, as if they do this all the time and couldn't care less. Neither they nor the nanny had made any attempts to control the kids during our meal though they were plainly aware.
I wish I'd taken our guests somewhere else for half the price. Live and learn.
What a beautiful venue for a special dinner. We went there while visiting our daughter in LA. My husband had the swordfish, which was the best of the 3 dishes - very tender and flavorful. My daughter had the scallops, which were also excellent but only 3 were served and if you have a bigger appetite, it may not be enough. I had the black cod, which was flakey and flavorful. Ask for a seat by the railing. Beautiful for watching the sunset but do ask to be seated more toward the middle of the restaurant. We were on the end and had to stand up to see the sun going down. Still great to look out over the ocean.
I made reservations two months ahead to get the best seating for sunset I explained I was coming out of town celebrating our honeymoon once we arrived the hostess when to check for seating to see
The sunset she just simple shake no to the other hostess’s and we got seated toward the other end of the restaurant with the worst view just looking to some ugly plants, never again!!! Will come to this restaurant and the food was just ok.
The food was great, the service was terrible. It was consistent all night from the moment we arrived. It took 15 minutes for a waiter to acknowledge us and 15 more minutes to get the champagne we ordered. It never got better. I actually have not had such bad service at a fine dining restaurant. We spent almost $300 for 2 of us and felt completely ignored
