Great food and great service! Very small but servers made us comfortable. Excellent food if a little pricey. I wanted to eat everything on the menu. Will definitely go back.
We had a great time- the food was amazing and the staff welcoming and accommodating!
Extremely cozy space. Friendly staff. Came for the "Tounedos Rossini" and smoked duck breast and loved them.
Outstanding service and food. Totally fair price, especially considering the time that goes into French food.
Came here on our six month anniversary. We were late due to the weather, but were accommodated immediately. The menu was diverse and the food was excellent. The waitstaff was attentive but not intrusive. This is my favorite type of place; out of the way, small and delicious.
Gentleman Farmer has a great menu with very creative dishes using less common meats and seasonal foods. Bison steak was very good. My wife’s rabbit cassoulet was also fantastic. Dessert was just good. I would definitely return in a different season for something different!
We were delayed and Matt was awesome to accommodate,
Food ,service and ambiance was awesome ! I have rec you to all my network that travels as we are from RI
This restaurant is amazing and the food was so good!! I rarely write reviews and I'm pretty hard to impress but this place blew us away. I took my girl out to celebrate our 13th anniversary and we loved it. Top notch...
Went to Gentleman Farmer for V-Day, was shocked how small it was but that ended up being a positive. Quaint, quiet, dimly lit, and intimate. The service was great, food very good, and overall experience was pleasurable.
Lackluster food, wait staff was not particularly knowledgeable about menu/wine list.
Not bad at all good food
We love the food and service ... everything about this place is
The food was amazing and our server Oscar was incredible.
First time here, been wanting to go for a while. Menu constantly rotates so we waited till there was a good amount of options we wanted to try. We've been all over the world and this was definitely the best prepared octopus and scallops we have ever had. I literally do not know how you cook octopus that good. I'd go back just for that but the mushroom ravioli and the rabbit were also perfect. The restaurant is a bit cramped with seating but it adds to the character. Service is very much on point as well. Make sure you have a reservation as it can fill with just 2 groups of like 5 in an instant. I think the most shocking thing was that 4 apps, 2 entrees, and a bottle of cava came in under $160. Super happy with everything, will return soon.
Quiet intimate dinner spot in a good neighborhood. Food was interesting without being over engineered. Service was helpful and efficient.
Part of the charm is also part of the problem, the tables are wicked close together- like pull out the table in order to sit against the wall- close together. But all good if you don’t have anything personal to discuss.
A bit long to get food
Food was good but not great
Went here for our anniversary. The food was absolutely wonderful, service was lovely, and the atmosphere was perfect for a date night. Highly recommend to all.
Gentleman Farmer was an accidental lucky find. A totally wonderful experience -- good food, not too loud, excellent service, reasonably priced. I will be returning!
Date with my gf yo
My favorite restaurant in NYC. The bison steak is amazing. Quite small. Better make a reservation.
GREAT food/ambiance/service. Wonderful experience! Polite staff (Thank you Oscar).Make a reservation. #worthit
Cozy spot. Food is delicious and beautifully presented. Very welcoming and attentive staff.
We had a problem that prevented us from going to our usual Christmas celebration near Boston, so we made reservations at this lovely little restaurant near where we live. It was a romantic dininer for two, the service was impeccable with a measure of charm besides. We really enjoyed the atmosphere. The restaurant is small, but the food was delicious, every single dish was prepared perfectly. The bubbly was a lovely way to start the meal before we had even ordered. We had a wonderful afternoon at Gentleman Farmer! We both have already recommended it to friends, all of whom are downtown foodies. Kudos, Gentleman Farmer!
This place is really amazing! Only 10 feet wide and seats only 20 people. 3 cooks in a miniscule kitchen and one person handling the front of the house. The food was incredibly fresh and delicious with an artisinal flair. The wine list was surprisingly good and rounded out the meal very well.
2nd time there, definitely a third time coming
We went to Gentleman Farmer for Christmas Eve dinner. There were five of us and they welcomed us warmly and had the table ready. Service was prompt but not intrusive. The waiter was friendly and helpful. The space is small and intimate with a row of tables along one wall. The banquettes were elegant black velvet and the decor is simple but elegant and candlelit/romantic lighting. We all did the tasting menu and the onion soup was one of the most delicious I’ve had. The country pate was amazing, the octopus perfectly cooked and the roasted cauliflower out of this world. We all loved our mains. The food is farm to table and featured duck, bison, rabbit and salmon among other things. My son had the smoked duck breast that was heavenly. The bison steak was superb and the venison my husband said was also very tender and delicious. Great curated wine list. I’ll definitely go back. Well worth the tab!!
All of the food was delicious, we had the octopus appetizer to start, which was cooked perfectly. For our entrees, I had the smoked duck and my boyfriend had the bison steak and both were prepared well and tasted delicious. It is a small place and very intimate. I highly recommend.
This was our 2nd time at Gentleman Farmer. We were once again impressed by their food and ambience. The lighting at the venue was set low with candle lights, and the mood is SUPER romantic. It is absolutely a place that you would want to come with special someone. We had bison steak and boar chop. Both plates were solid from the taste perspective. The boar meat practically fell off from the bone as soon as I cut into with a knife. Very tender. The accompanying verde sauce added freshness to the meal. Their chocolate soufflé is not overly sweet because the chocolate is high quality. They probably wanted the cacao taste to come forward before sugar. Sooooo thoughtful and sooooo French. The vanilla ice cream took the sweet role on the nice closing wrap of the dinner. The wine that we chose were comforting, and did not compete with the food, which we very much appreciated. I was practically melting by the deliciousness of the dining experience when exiting out the door. What else can I say about this beautiful and charming place in LES other than that we will absolutely keep coming back.
An intimate restaurant with delicious french inspired food. Certain to be a place we come to.
We had an amazing evening with outstanding food and the best service ever!
Took my 16 year old nephew for his first “game” dining experience. He enjoyed the venison and I had the bison - both delicious. The curried escargot starter was unique and enjoyable. Not many places in NYC with venison, bison and rabbit on the regular menu. A tiny place with 22 seats, largely a row of tables along a wall. Very pleasant experience and a lovely meal.
A super cozy small intimate restaurant, love
In the city for thanksgiving. Couldn’t have hoped for a better place to dine!
Cozy place with good options in prix fixe menu.
I came here for the Thanksgiving Day lunch. Since the restaurant seats only 20 people, be sure to reserve in advance. The prix fixe menu had more than usual number of options and included a glass of hard cider. I had the seared scallop, followed by the bison steak with vegetables, and ended the meal with the crème brulee. The service was professional and courteous. Due to the small size of the place, when it gets crowded, I think it can get very noisy.
We LOVE this place! A small french LES neighborhood gem.
A wonderful place for a date given the cozy environment, the staff is beyond lovely, and the food typically quite good. On this particular evening, the rabbit was a bit dry, and the portions a bit scant, but overall worth giving the restaurant another try.
The restaurant is warm and cozy. The waitress does a wonderful job at being attentive to all the tables and serving the food at a reasonable pace. Very delicious!
I was visiting from Alaska and this place was recommended by my sister in law. It was fabulous in every way! My filet was cooked perfectly, the wine was lovely and the service was superb.
