The twice cooked risotto was back!!! Happy dayyyyyyy!
Excellent food and really wonderful service. Lovely meal with the family.
Great food and wine, attentive staff, cozy atmosphere.
If was a birthday dinner for my sister.
Amazing people working there. Felt completely and utterly taken care of.
Mishap on with the spiral ham on Xmas eve meant hasty reservation on Xmas day at GF. Exquisite food; charming, just-right attentive staff working a holiday. They welcomed us warmly, fed us lovely salmon and venison and wagyu beef with the most tender seared scallops, pork belly, and risotto appetizers. And the deserts were delicious. Everything was working.
Really loved the food and the experience. Can’t wait to return.
Great service and great food! Nice cozy setting
Terrific neighborhood restaurant with a farmhouse/rustic feel. Casual and friendly staff. Small menu, but loaded with great selections. We visited on a cold night and our rabbit and venison dishes were flavorful and piping hot. Servings are large and almost big enough to share. Solid cocktail and wine list with good price points. Great comfort food and experience.
Our favorite restaurant. It was a pleasure to spend Thanksgiving there!
One in our party was stuck on public transportation, and the restaurant was very accommodating, moving the reservation back. The food was exc3llent, although limiting if you are not a meal eater. Mushroom ravioli & salmon were very good. We were splitting a salad, and our bread plates had spicy olive oil on them. But we were told to use our bread plates for the salad. That was the only negative.
Really tasty meal. Not at all crowded. Limited options for non meat eating folks.
Outstanding food and service. I had the lamb and it was outstanding
An amazingly under appreciated gem! Creative menu beautifully presented.
It was a good meal but was slightly disappointing. Its a great spot for a heavy meat eater. I think i set my expectations too high going into the meal.
Plating was beautiful and food was exquisite
Disappointing. The rack of lamb was overcooked and over-salted. The green beans wrapped in prosciutto were also too salty — you don’t need to salt something wrapped in ham. Service was slow and inattentive. Not cheap Eire. Probably our last visit.
Food was good, decor was nice. I chose it because it was described as "quiet." Well, it was quiet when we got there at 7pm on Saturday, but by 8pm it was uncomfortably noisy. Maybe it's quieter during the week, or the other reviewers were eating early.
Our favorite meal and favorite place in the city!!
My wife and I came in from Chicago for the weekend. This was our first stop and it was incredible.
We had dinner there on a quiet rainy Sunday night. The service was excellent. Attentive but not overly involved. We ordered the bison tartar. It was very good and unique. We each ordered a different entree with the idea we would all share. We had the duck, the boar, and the rabbit. We liked all of them. The boar and the duck were especially good. I would definitely come back and eat here again.
Wonderful food and service. Pricey but worth it for a special occasion.
The food was VERY delicious, and the quietly stylish interior was a lovely backdrop for a dinner with friends. The service was very good without being intrusive. I had the tournedos entree and it was outstanding. Great spot overall - I would go out of my way to come back.
We waited over an hour for the food to turn up, and when it finally arrived it was gross - even the fries were awful. There are better places for brunch. Avoid.
We were the first guests to arrive upon opening. The staff were helpful in selecting out menu items as well as attending to us throughout the meal. Everything was delicious but our favorites of the varied appetizers were the scallops and foie gras and the bison tartare. We had the boar and venison entrees. The venison might have won a few more votes but the gnocchi served with the boar kept the plate neck and neck in terms of speedy consumption. For dessert the foie gras and the cheese sampler. These were wonderful closes to an amazing meal. We will be back personally and have no hesitation recommending Gentleman Farmer to others.
We were a little disappointed our go to steak is off the menu for the winter but loved our food none the less. I personally didn't mind drowning my sorrows in the twice baked risotto.
This place was incredible! Had a $29 pre-fixe that seemed to be worth at least $65. Amazing. I recommend the bison short ribs and the grilled squid (best squid dish I've ever had). Steak was wonderful too!
All the food is not only delicious but has something extra special about it.
Second time coming here. I went to school in New York and spend at least one month out of the year in Brooklyn. I moved from Ft. Green back to Bushwick but took my family back to this gem for a birthday dinner
Every. Single. Item on the menu is fantastic; made my parents who “don’t like French food” like the French options.
I’m continually amazed how tiny New York kitchens are able to crank out meals like the ones I’ve had st the Gentleman Farmer.
Come eat here. You won’t regret it. The wait staff is fantastic. The atmosphere is comfortable and cozy. It hits all the marks for a perfect meal. Highly recommended.
Excellent and inventive food, short but good wine list and dramatically understaffed team. One excellent waitress can not do that and that’s too bad as the food is good although not cheap.
Everything was good
Gentleman Farmers is an excellent restaurant whether it is for dinner, lunch or brunch. The food is always great and the service is of a very high quality.
We ordered the Pork Belly Banh Mi and Madame Croque. They were both good, and we particularly look forward to ordering the Madame Croque again. We had some allergy concerns, and the staff addressed them, and we ate delicious food without issue.
Feels like one of the small neighborhood bistros you find in Paris. Cozy and inviting, good solid food. Grilled octopus was especially well prepared.
Disappointing. Octopus starter was over cooked, and chared on the outside.
Twice cooked risotto was too salty, and again over cooked.
The menu was promising but the food just didn’t hit the mark.
Great casual dinner with my visiting mom!
Lovely, quiet restaurant with very good food. Very relaxed atmosphere, with a sophisticated menu. Nice little bar with seating. We liked the fish and the steak and the venison Bourguignon.
This is a hole in the wall type restaurant that was unexpectedly good in all areas that make for an enjoyable dinner. Food is creative, ingredients were high quality, ambiance is elegant without being snooty, and our sever Alexandra was friendly yet professional. And price is reasonable for what we’re getting. We definitely will return.
This was a great place to take parents who came into town. We were seated quickly. The service was great. The noise level wasn't too loud so we could actually have a conversation. The food was excellent.
As usual we loved it! Can't wait for the spring menu to come out.
Terrible service. Bad food. Stay away!!!!!
