Excellent! Service is excellent. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. The food is fresh, delicious and well prepared. They will make you any kind of pasta on rewuest - if possible.
Going to Gennaro's is always a tasty, welcoming and fun experience. The owner and his employees are friendly and attentive (Gennaro, Rene, Dublas, and the young gentleman with the beard!) The appetizers, entrees and desserts are always delicious. Love the atmosphere.
The appetizer was a disappointment unfortunately. Was not Italian like you would think. Way too american. You don't fry prosciutto. Or add bread crumbs in Italian foods. Why do you Americans always have to ruin the food.. Main course was better. But not worth the price. I was hoping to experience new tastes, but it didn't happen.
Nicely prepared, as always an enjoyable dining experience. Friendly service and lots of locals.
Had a fabulous Friday night dinner with my boyfriend for his birthday! Easily made reservations online and they called 2 hours before to confirm (I thought that was great). We were seated right away, food took no time to come out and everything was delicious. You can actually have a conversation in here without screaming, so it's a wonderful place to catch up with family/friends. Would recommend!
This was our third visit to Gennaro's in two months time. We celebrated a birthday, Mother's Day and a date night. The staff is cheerful and friendly. Always a warm greeting at the door. The food is delicious. We haven't had one item we haven't liked. We especially enjoy the family style appetizer which gives you a taste of everything. We weren't rushed at all and were able to thoroughly enjoy our family get togethers. We plan to go back often.
Best Italian food in the area! The staff is knowledgeable and always has a smile. Warm, comfortable and delicious!
Gennaro is a master of his restaurant. The combination of food, service and warmth of this gem of a restaurant he has created has never lost the sincerity and care of his customers. Oh, and the good is great too!!!
Excellent food and service as always. Usually have some interesting specials and very good desserts.
This restaurant is a hidden gem near Princeton. The food was outstanding, the service perfect, and our waiter Greg was the best waiter, the most attentive waiter we have had in a very long time.
The restaurant was really really really good I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the city of Princeton
Wonderful bread. Unusual salad with deep fried artichokes (a surprise) tasted very good. Mussels excellent. Veal piccatta kind of greasy and lemon sauce wasn't very "lemony". Pasta (linguini with both entres) was not made in house (it was clearly the dried boxed kind you get at the grocery store.) Pleasant "old world" ambiance -- lots of dark wood, lace curtains, and small dining areas. Noisy!
we (my wife and friends) drove an hour for very good food and excellent service and will continue to do so. Gennaro's is one of those comfortable restaurants that have no gimmicks, no pretenses, nothing phony...they serve very good food in a very comfortable setting and i would recommend them to the harshest food critics. Additionally, they are a BYO which is an added attraction.
The food was amazing as always. Excellent service as well. Great place as it's a BYOB. Had a nice table for 6 in the back. Highly recommend.
Our family had a wonderful evening celebrating a birthday at Gennaro's. We were met by the owner with a warm and friendly greeting. The wait staff was excellent. They did not rush us through the meal. The meal was excellent. We had a most enjoyable time and would highly recommend dining here. I myself am looking forward to returning very soon!
Veal was excellent
We love this restaurant! We frequently come with friends and can always count on a great Italian meal. Italian friends of ours say it is amazing and they have tried many Italian restaurants in the area. It's BYOB so that is nice too. Staff is friendly and attentive and the owner is wonderful!
Consistently my favourite restaurant in Princeton. Genuine Italian food with an emphasis on fresh ingredients cooked in a way that makes all their flavors out on your palette. The staff are always friendly and accommodating and I find it the perfect place to end the work week, or take visitors who deserve a special meal in a friendly relaxed atmosphere.
A great meal in a comfortable environment. What else can you say! We love this place!
It was a cozy and relaxing evening and the service was excellent!
We dine here fairly rugulary as it is so pleasant and can count on good food, where menu changes often, offering excellent specials.
I have had the pleasure of dining at Gennaro's for the past 12 years.
There was never a time I was ever disappointed. Along with a well prepared meal is the all over ambiance of Gennaro, his staff and his great chef. Hope to be back soon.
Food was fresh and nicely served. Kitchen was very accommodating to special requests.
Restaurant had a nice atmosphere, the food was delicious and the service was exceptional. Loved the secluded area they have for larger parties. Great estaurant to celebrate a special event with family or frienfs.
The atmosphere was nice. Good opportunity to talk. My main issues are food quality and value. I had the chicken parm and the chicken was not easy to cut (couldn't be cut with a fork despite thin cutlet). It had to be pulled apart in some instances and was 'stringy'. At 25 dollars a dish, I expect better quality food. The taste of the food was good.
Glad we were able to get a spot at Genarro's for an early New Year's eve dinner. Food was excellent but a bit pricey. Service was prompt, and its nice to see the owner there keep an eye on matters. We will be back.
So disappointed in our New Year's Eve dinner! We've been to Gennaro's multiple times prior and the food was always outstanding. This time, it was a fast-paced assembly line of pre-made food that came with the same sad reheated ice cream scoop of grey mashed potatoes with a burnt "potato chip," mixed vegs, and a sauce consisting of 99% salt. The portions were ridiculously small for the price and the choices were very limited for non-seafood diners. The only positive notes were the attentive staff, the crusty bread, and the fab escarole appetizer. Otherwise, it was a colossal waste of 50 minutes [yes, they had us out the door in 50 minutes, from apps to dessert] and $150.00, especially since we were still hungry when we left the restaurant.
For great authentic Italian food in Princeton, this is the place to go---and being a BYOB you can also bring the wine of your choice. The ambiance is very laid back, pleasing and at this time very festively decorated for the holidays. The service is very attentive from personable servers who appear to like what they are doing---as opposed to a large number of servers in the area at other restaurants who ought to find other careers. The quality of food and service is no doubt owed to the restaurant's very gracious owner, Genarro Constabile, who makes you feel that you are always most welcome and special when you dine there. One of the dishes I recently had was the Baccala, which was a fantastic piece of cod cooked to perfection and surrounded by a most deliciously flavored light lemon and butter sauce over linguini, also cooked to perfection. I heartily recommend this gem.
Authentic and delicious Italian cuisine with attentive and kind service staff members. Our host even provided a complimentary bottle of merlot as we'd accidentally left our wine at home!
I had a bad experience. My mussel shells broke all over the plate into very tiny pieces , and I couldn't eat any of the linguine without getting a piece of shell in my mouth. After I ate as much as I could tolerate, I was till finding shell pieces in my mouth. I told the waiter but no apology or anything. I won't be going back.
Great dinner- service was excellent- would recommend
Fine dining experience, friendly, competent staff. Food is excellent ,menu changes seasonally, always adding creative dishes. Best to go during week, weekends crowded and noisy.
Dinner for four was delicious, and service friendly and attentive. Salads were split for sharing.
One caveat: we were taken aback by the price of a special: approximately twice the cost of most listed entrees.
We would suggest that either the specials be printed for the day, or the server mention the price. The dish was delicious, but we thought too costly
It is very pricey for what it was . the food was good. the menu on the internet is not the same as the restaurant.
Great food and service. Only complaint is that the appetizer special was $84 for 6 people. A little excessive. No warning of price when you order it.
I have been to Gennaro's restaurant twice for dinner and have never been disappointed. Great food and excellent service. Short Ribs are a great choice too.
Visited after 4 years and the flavors are authentic as ever.
Gennaro's is our go-to for a satisfying Italian meal. The menu offers ample choices, and the chef will accommodate most requests. Bring your own wine and stay a while. Eat outside if the weather permits. The road noise will fade, and you'll enjoy the evening air!
Just what we wanted, dinner was excellent. Did not have room for desert. Server knew her stuff. We had very enjoyable evening.
Gennaro's was highly recommended to us by a friend and had such high ratings on OpenTable, we decided to try it on a date night. We were impressed with the delicious food, attentive wait staff, table visit by the owner, wine decanting by the sommelier and delicious desserts! Being a BYOB place is a plus as well. We're already planning our next night out there over the holidays!
We've been to Gennaro's several times and they have never let us down.
