Gennaro's Italian Ristorante
Gennaro’s is my go to Italian restaurant. Consistent, good quality food. Large portions for leftovers and I make sure to save room for their cheesecake with Spumoni topping!
It was sweet
Food and service was good but took longer than usual due to them being very busy.
It had been years since our last visit to Gennaro's, and I remembered why we hadn't returned sooner. We had a reservation for 6 pm and arrived promptly. All six guests stood in the foyer, and the hostess promised to seat us shortly; then she and another person took calls and stood around the desk. After an awkward wait of approximately 5 minutes, the hostessed passed some menus to her colleague, and she led us to an empty table. The table next to ours was occupied and was close ours one of our guests had to excuse himself to be seated, and then their chairs were virtually touching. The food was as expected, very tasty. Our waitress was friendly but overworked; and the entrees arrived at different times. Overall, we had a nice evening in spite of these flaws, and it's still the best Italian restaurant in the northwestern suburbs of Charleston, but improvements could be made.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Charleston. The food is so delicious always and the hospitality is always good.
I like this restaurant because it has all the classic Italian dishes and there are specials that change things up. Our server was very knowledgable about questions we had on the menu which was a plus. It is a great place for a family or friends get together, not fancy, but delicious and not expensive.
Great food. Authentic. Family owned.
Attentive service, awesome ambience, and the food was amazing and delicious as always. Cannot wait to go back.
Always great food and service,
Great Italian food. Building is old needs a remodel inside.
As always it was a great meal. Always happy for an excuse to drive from West Ashley to eat at Gennaro’s. Already looking forward to next time. Thanks Robert.
Consistently good food and service. Been going for 25 years. Never disappointed.
Our neighborhood favorite!
Promptly seated at reservation time. Excellent service, great food.
very good food. went there for birthday. Thanks love the stuffed mushrooms appetizer
Good Italian food...great service. If you are looking for authentic, this is the place.
Food was great but it was not worth waiting 105 minutes to get it.
We frequently dine here and it is one of our favorites however tonight was below our standard as far as service is concerned. Our server was soo slow and inattentive that several times we had to call over another server to take care of our needs. Yes we will come back but we will request Terra as our server she is the best!
A wonderful experience with good food, great atmosphere and service. We had a variety of seafood and pasta meals that was excellent and a desert that was wonderful. Would recommend to anyone that enjoys old style eating with a atmosphere that allows conversation
Always classy and extremely good. This was the "brunch" on Sunday at noon and the buffet was amazing. I'll be back soon.
Great food, no, excellent food. Everything is so fresh and delicious.
The staff is always knowledgeable and helpful. They always welcome us in like family. The food has always been wonderful!
We were so impressed by the service!! It was Christmas Eve and they were packed to capacity so the kitchen was a little behind. Our server was amazing and kept checking on us and filling our drinks and apologizing for any delay! Great job!!
The food was amazing. The food was quite slow coming out especially for the amount of people in the dining room, but who knows if they had 100 to go orders to feel. I will say that it was worth the wait especially due to the VERY reasonable bottle wine prices. Well, actually, it was really the quality of the food that made the wait worth it, the wine prices were just a bonus!!
We absolutely love our neighborhood restaurant!
I enjoy my outing at Gennaro’s before the Charleston Christmas Musical. We had fresh local shrimp and calamari as appetizers. They were so delicious. We had shrimp scampi and seafood scampi which were delicious as well. The service was impeccable. We lived 5 minutes away there not any Christmas traffic.
We try to come to Gennaro's whenever we are in town. It is by far one of the best Italian places I have ever been. It is a hidden gem for sure.
Waitress was friendly and well versed of the specials.
Great food! Portions large so shared with my husband.
Overall experience very good. Most food was prepared well but pizza seemed overcooked to me. Our server, Tara, was super pleasant and attentive to our needs the entire night. She enhanced our experience due to her good nature and service. We will go back for more!
We have been going there since they opened. The best in our neighborhood.
The food was fantastic, as usual. Salmon Florentine, Eggplant Parmesan and Brussels Sprout appetizer. Service was attentive and they took the time to warm the room slightly for me at our request.
Bread was warm and olive oil /garlic/balsamic vinaigrette was very tasty. Entrees (chicken Marsala & veal parmigiana) were both good and portions were large. Our server McKenna was knowledgeable and attentive.
Great dinner, great menu and selections, really good service, nice wine offerings. Enjoyed the meal and our evening very much!
We have been visiting Gennaro’s since it’s opening and have never been disappointed. Always the best! Our favorite Italian restaurant
Hadn't been there in over twenty years. Don’t know why I was punishing myself. The place is excellent!
Wonderful and Delicious! It was our first time there and well worth it. Our server Jason was spectacular.
