Overall a good experience. The only issue is the wait. We had reservations and discovered that if they are filling a grill table they will wait until other reservations are there (not people in your party). We waited over an hour.
Good food. Horrible service. The cook cooked our food in reverse order. Shrimp, scallops, lobster, chicken, steak vegetables. People who ordered shrimp ate 10 min before people who ordered chicken. The grilled vegetables were done 15 min later.
Its worth a try but overall there is much better spots. Definiteltly doesnt compare to bennihanna
We love this restaurant. Order the “adult sharing plate” for a surf and turf (shrimp or lobster) and then a sushi roll or two—it’s the perfect amount of food, and you get such a wide variety of flavors. Delish!
I doubt I would recommend the restaurant. To me it seemed like a buffet style interior. The Hibachi area smelled awful and so did my clothes and jacket when I left. (4 days later it still smells)
From the beginning at the bar I knew it was going to be a different experience. I asked for a Captain and Coke and the bartender gave me Jack Daniels and Coke. I told him that it was wrong and he insisted it was Captain. After 35 plus years, I know what it tastes like.
Then came the dinner part, almost 45 minutes after being sat at our table, we finally received our soups and the salads came about 15 minutes later. The chef finally showed up and started cooking for us well after an hour and fifteen minutes in. The experience and taste is not what I am used to. Their Yum Yum sauce tasted like mayo with siracha sauce. I did like the Hibachi chef, he had a great personality, I think his name was Paris. The poor waitress had no idea what she was doing and at one point, I think she was drunk. She was constantly laughing at her mistakes and while she was talking to us. It was a strange experience.
Went for Valentine’s Day and the experience was as expected. Expect a nicer Benihana’s.
The food was delicious the service started off great then it declined. But it still did not damper the meal. I love Genji!
The Front Desk, Steward & Chef were awesome. Very engaging and entertaining. Thoroughly enjoyed our time. However, food could use more flavor. It was very bland for our taste...
30 min wait with a reservation and the restaurant need air venting and clean air circulation
My server Suki was awesome - get her section she’s great! I remember her from another restaurant I used to frequent. HOWEVER, mine and my fiancé’s lobster and filet was COLD. Some of the vegetables were warm and some cold, others piping hot. The filet was cold as was the lobster. Don’t get me wrong, it was delicious but cold. They put two shrimps on my dish and one had the tail off and one did not. Didn’t make sense to me to be honest. The bathrooms were messy as well. Also, why does it say that my open table reservation is not really a reservation but when I walked in the front desk asked me if I had a reservation?? So confused by this?
We for sure enjoyed it, we were very upset though that they didn’t do the popcorn at the end. We were looking forward to it
Great place, food was very tasty. Nice place to take your clients. Looks upscale and the prices are reasonable.
This is a good basic Japanese steak house - what you would expect.
Fun place to take the family and kids out too. Tasty food and good drinks. Try the Blueberry Mule.
The ambiance is nice. The server was very nice but definitely overwhelmed as it took an hour from when we sat down to order and get our first course. We were there for over 2 hours. I know the server was trying her best and she was very pleasant, but it really was a long time to wait. The manager seemed to care less when some people at the table brought up their disappointment. He was avoiding the issue and ran off to get some popcorn thinking that would solve anything. We were just looking for an apology and not necessarily anything off the bill. We just wanted to feel like he cared. I don’t think I’ll go back specifically because of the way he treated us.
This was atypical but most of the tables were dirty. The glasses had things floating in it. Seemed like it was an off day bc any other time I go, there have been no issues. Buffet food was still being out out slowly. It seemed like no one checked up the night before :(
Great food every time we go! Chefs are interactive and friendly. The only thing that could be improved on is the wait staff. They are pretty slow with their service
Everything was great. Execpt we never got our popcorn that comes with our meal. It was a disappointment.
Excellent atmosphere. Family friendly and staff interacts well with younger Family members as well as parents. Recommended Genji to our friends.
I just want to say we looked forward to trying out Genji due the hundreds of 4 start reviews but that was the last thing we looked forward to besides getting the check and leaving. The service and the food were dreadful. It seemed like it was a restaurant that was holding on to its last little bit of hope. I don't see Genji being around for much longer. If your looking for good service and food this is not the place to go even tho their reviews online are good.
Everything took too long. Went for hibachi and waited 25 to 30 minutes to sit at a hibachi. Then sat there with no drinks or chef for quite a while. When you did order a drink, it took 15-30 minutes to get one. There was 1 bartender working for the entire restaurant and it was relatively busy. Food was fine. Chef was good. Just service is where things are lacking.
Food was mediocre and over priced. Lots of people wearing pajamas in a restaurant where our bill was 120$.
Was out for a birthday dinner and it was pretty slow in there and it took almost 2 hours for dinner.
Worst service at any restaurant we’ve ever been to
The only problem we had was our food was suppose to be half off cause It was my birthday and they only took off one roll
I first tried Genji 2 months ago for my sons birthday and couldn't wait for another occasion to return. This is not a restaurant I can visit often because it gets expensive. But the Hibachi entertainment and good food makes it feel worth the experience. I will return and have been recommending to friends already.
This is a case of the cover not matching the book. Nice looking building outside. it actually matches the "Upscale" that the restaurant claims on it's website, except for the VERY poor lighting in the parking lot. Step inside and the place can't decide if it's a sports bar, Japanese Steakhouse, bar, or sushi restaurant. Very bight interior lighting, a TV so large it's 15 screens take up one whole wall and is tuned to sports, sealed concrete floors look like something from a Loft renovation. they have the U shaped cooking tables where a chef usually cooks and performs, but when we were their all of the food for them was just coming out of the main kitchen. We both had the Filet Mignon and Scallops. This entrée comes with fried rice, shrimp, choice of soup and salad. I told our server that I have recently become allergic to shrimp, and he said they could just give me extra vegetables or extra fried rice. Our meals came and not only were the shrimp on my plate, but he failed to inform us that the fried rice is "SHRIMP" fried rice. Also, even though the company touts this as an "upscale" venue, the customers were dress like they were on a picnic or at the lake. Nothing Upscale about it.
Had a very good time with family here. Kids loved the entertaining chef and the food was excellent. The only complaint is they don't offer the dessert on weekends anymore.
My daughter celebrated her 41st birthday here. It was her choice and her very first time attending. She was happy with the service and loved the food. Thank you for the 50% discount on her entree.
Wow! Genji was amazing. Food was great. Service was fantastic. Can’t wait to go back.
Worst service I have ever had. Saw our server maybe a hand full of times. Got my own drink from the bar, while it was sitting in the service well because Julia neglected to bring it after fifteen minutes. Chef overcooked the steak that I had ordered as well. Soup and salad came out after we ordered ONE sushi roll as an appetizer.
Great chef! He was really entertaining, funny, and cooked out food very well. The rice was very tasty (perfect amount of soy sauce in my opinion). He had everyone catch a piece of egg in their mouth which was hilarious! Definitely will recommend
Great food, lots of fun. Went on a double date for NYE and was placed with two families with kids. We still had a blast but good to keep in mind that you’ll likely get paired with other groups if you are looking for a romantic night out.
Service was mediocre at best. Dinner arrived before our 2 drinks from bar. They said they were backed up but it wasn’t really that busy and we noticed someone that sat at the bar received their drinks before we did sitting at a table.
Felt lucky to get a last minute New Year’s Eve reservation here. Food was great. Huge portions, all inclusive meals and great service.
We went for a friends birthday and had the Teppenyaki dinner. The cook was engaging funny and talented. There was so much food and it was delicious.
The food was fresh and delicious. The staff was welcoming and our waitress Suki was outstanding. My husband and I had plans to go to another restaurant originally but decided to try them out on date night instead. It was a great decision. We will be back!
Made a reservation for 830pm, got there and had to wait for a table to be cleaned off. No harm no foul. Waitress was great, but she was being pulled in a bunch of directions. The turn off about the restaurant was that the was a large number of tables that were not cleaned, and it was hard not to notice. Looking at tables needing to be cleaned just made me not want to be at this restaurant. Sushi was great though!
The service was less than par. I had to constantly ask the hostess to accommodate simple request such as water as we sat for over an hour before anybody even approached us. This seems to happen quite a bit when we visit this establishment and at this point I don’t think that we will ever return. They just can’t seem to get it right and when your competing against Benhi Hana, there is no room for failure.
I wasn’t sure what to expect seeing a lot of mixed reviews. However, we had a great experience. The hibachi show wasn’t super exciting, and I’ve been to places with more tricks and such, but our cook had a fun personality, as did our waitress. Food was delicious, much better than another hibachi place I went to. Only minor issues we had is my daughter ordered sushi and they forgot to bring her soy sauce and a cup for it. We flagged someone down for spy but they forgot to bring the cups. Not a huge deal. The caramel popcorn at the end was a unique addition to the meal, as well.
